What is the Go-Green Shramik Scheme?

Go-Green Shramik Scheme is a welfare scheme of the Gujarat Building and Other Construction Worker's Welfare Board (GBOCWWB), which works under the Labour, Skill Development and Employment Department of the Government of Gujarat. The scheme gives a registered construction worker a one-time capital subsidy towards buying a battery-operated two-wheeler.

Two things drive the scheme. The first is transport cost: a construction worker in Ahmedabad, Surat or Rajkot often travels 10 to 25 kilometres a day to a site, and petrol is a significant share of a daily wage. The second is the state's clean-air commitment, under which Gujarat has been pushing electric two-wheelers through GEDA and the FAME framework. Go-Green Shramik Scheme, sometimes written as the "Go Green Shramik Yojana", connects the two by putting an electric two-wheeler within reach of a worker who could not otherwise afford one.

How much subsidy does the Go-Green Shramik Scheme pay?

The subsidy is 50 per cent of the price of the battery-operated two-wheeler or Rs 30,000, whichever is less. In practice this means:

Above a price of Rs 60,000 the cap bites and the subsidy stays at Rs 30,000, so the effective help is largest on entry-level and mid-range models. In addition, the Board reimburses the RTO registration tax and road tax paid on the new vehicle, which for a two-wheeler is a further few thousand rupees depending on the invoice value.

The benefit is a one-time subsidy per worker. It can be claimed alongside other electric-vehicle incentives available on the same purchase, so a worker should ask the dealer what central or GEDA-linked discount is already built into the quoted on-road price before calculating what the Board will add.

Who is eligible for the Go-Green Shramik Scheme?

You can claim the subsidy if:

• You are a construction worker registered with GBOCWWB and hold a valid e-Nirman card.
• Your registration with the Board is at least one year old and current.
• You buy a lithium-ion battery two-wheeler in your own name.
• You hold a valid two-wheeler driving licence.
• The model is a recognised electric two-wheeler under the Motor Vehicles Act and meets the approved-model criteria the Board applies.
• You agree to keep the vehicle for three years and not resell it.

You cannot apply if:

• You are not registered with GBOCWWB, or your e-Nirman registration has lapsed or is less than one year old.
• The invoice or the RC is in another person's name, a spouse, relative or employer.
• You do not hold a two-wheeler driving licence.
• You have already drawn this subsidy once; the benefit is once per worker.
• The vehicle is a lead-acid or unregistered low-speed scooter that does not meet the scheme's model criteria.
• You are a salaried employee outside the construction trades, in which case the parallel Go Green Scheme of the Gujarat Labour Welfare Board is the relevant route, not this one.

Note the important distinction: Gujarat runs two Go Green two-wheeler schemes. This one is for construction workers registered with GBOCWWB. The Gujarat Labour Welfare Board runs a separate Go Green Scheme for factory and industrial workers who contribute to the Labour Welfare Fund. A worker qualifies under one board, not both.

What documents are required?

How to apply for the Go-Green Shramik Scheme

1. Make sure your e-Nirman registration is active and at least one year old. If you are not yet registered, register first at enirmanbocw.gujarat.gov.in with your Aadhaar, ration card, age proof, employer certificate and bank details, and get the e-Nirman card.
2. Buy the battery-operated two-wheeler in your own name and complete the RTO registration. Keep the GST invoice, the RC and the tax receipt.
3. Open enirmanbocw.gujarat.gov.in, log in with your e-Nirman card number and registered mobile number, and select the electric two-wheeler subsidy service. GBOCWWB scheme applications are also filed through the Sanman portal at sanman.gujarat.gov.in using the Aadhaar and e-Nirman card number.
4. Fill in the application form with the vehicle details: make, model, chassis and registration number, invoice value and date of purchase.
5. Upload the e-Nirman card, Aadhaar, driving licence, invoice, RC, tax receipt and bank passbook.
6. Accept the undertaking not to sell the vehicle for three years, then submit and note the application number on the acknowledgement.

How to apply with help offline

1. Visit a Common Service Centre or your district labour office / GBOCWWB district unit with the original documents.
2. Ask the operator to file the electric two-wheeler subsidy application against your e-Nirman card number.
3. Collect the printed acknowledgement carrying the application number and the date.

How do I check my application status?

Use the View Citizen Application Status option on the Sanman portal, or the status link on e-Nirman, and enter your application number and date of birth. The status shows whether the file is with the district office for scrutiny, sanctioned, or returned for correction. Once sanctioned, the subsidy is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer into the worker's own bank account.

Why applications get rejected

• Registration too new. The e-Nirman registration is less than one year old on the date of application.
• Lapsed registration — annual renewal of the e-Nirman card was missed.
• Invoice or RC in the wrong name. Both must be in the applicant's own name; a vehicle bought in a spouse's name will not qualify.
• No two-wheeler driving licence, or a licence that has expired.
• Ineligible model, the vehicle is not a lithium-ion battery two-wheeler recognised under the scheme's criteria.
• Bank account mismatch, where the name on the account does not match the Aadhaar name, so the DBT fails after sanction.
• Repeat claim by a worker who already drew the subsidy.

Key dates and conditions to remember

Go-Green Shramik Scheme has no published annual last date; applications are accepted through the year and sanctioned against the Board's budget for that financial year. Two dates matter to the applicant instead. The first is the one-year completion of your e-Nirman registration, before which an application will not be entertained. The second is the three-year retention period from the date of purchase, during which the vehicle must stay in your name. Applying soon after purchase is sensible, because the invoice, RC and tax receipt are all fresh and the district office can verify them without querying.

No fee is charged for registration or for the subsidy application. A dealer cannot demand a commission for "arranging" the Board subsidy, and the money is credited by the Board, not by the showroom.
