What is Mahila Samrudhhi Yojana under the Gopalak Vikas Nigam?
Mahila Samrudhhi Yojana is a micro-credit scheme of the Gujarat Gopalak Vikas Nigam (GGVN), a corporation under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat. In Gujarati the scheme is written as Mahila Samruddhi Yojana (Laghustariya Yojana), and the corporation is the Gujarat Gopalak Vikas Nigam.
According to the corporation's scheme page on sje.gujarat.gov.in, the purpose of Mahila Samrudhhi Yojana is to empower women through self-employment and make them self-reliant by providing micro-finance to individual women entrepreneurs. The corporation itself exists to develop the Rabari and Bharwad communities; traditionally livestock-rearing and dairying castes classified as socially and educationally backward, so that they can reach the same economic footing as other communities.
Note the difference from similarly named schemes. Gujarat has more than one "Mahila Samruddhi" loan: the Gujarat Backward Classes Development Corporation runs one for backward-class women, the Gujarat Thakor and Koli Vikas Nigam runs one for Thakor and Koli women, and this one is specific to Gopalak (Rabari and Bharwad) women. The eligibility and the income ceiling differ, so applying to the wrong corporation is a wasted round.
How much is the loan and what does it cost?
The corporation's own scheme page gives the loan amount plainly: Rs 1.25 lakh on an individual basis for one eligible woman. The same Rs 1.25 lakh ceiling applies to the corporation's parallel Laghustariya Dhiran (micro finance) scheme, which is the route used by male applicants.
On pricing, the corporation's loan portal, ggdconline.gujarat.gov.in, publishes its current rates for direct lending: 5 per cent a year for men and 4 per cent a year for women. A woman borrowing under Mahila Samrudhhi Yojana therefore pays the 4 per cent rate. For comparison, the corporation's higher-education lending is priced at 4 per cent for students and 3.5 per cent for student guardians, with a ceiling of Rs 15,00,000. A different scheme entirely, but useful context for a family weighing a business loan against an education loan.
The corporation does not publish the number of monthly instalments for Mahila Samrudhhi Yojana on its scheme page. The repayment schedule is fixed in the sanction letter, and an applicant should read it before signing rather than assume the four-year schedule used by other Gujarat corporations.
Who is eligible for Mahila Samrudhhi Yojana?
You can apply if:
- You are a woman belonging to the Rabari or Bharwad community, which the corporation describes as socially and educationally backward.
- You are between 21 and 50 years old on the date of application.
- Your annual family income does not exceed Rs 5.00 lakh.
- You are a resident of Gujarat and can prove it with a ration card, election card or equivalent record.
- You hold a bank account in your own name for disbursement and recovery.
- You can produce a school leaving certificate as age proof, or, if you never attended school. An age certificate from a government medical officer.
You cannot apply if:
- You are a man. The corporation's Laghustariya Dhiran, Pashupalan, Nana Dhandha and Parivahan schemes cover other borrowers.
- You are outside the Rabari and Bharwad communities, or outside Gujarat.
- You are below 21 or above 50.
- Your family income is above Rs 5.00 lakh a year.
- Another member of your family has already taken a direct loan from the corporation. The portal restricts the benefit to one person per family.
- You have an outstanding loan with the corporation, or you have stood guarantor for a loan that is still outstanding. The portal names both as disqualifications.
What documents are required?

How do I check my application status?
Log back in to ggdconline.gujarat.gov.in with the same user ID; the applicant dashboard shows each application and its stage. If the dashboard does not move for several weeks after the round closes, ring 079-23256494 with your application number. The corporation also publishes forms and FAQs on its sje.gujarat.gov.in pages, which are worth reading before you telephone.
Why applications get rejected
- Income above Rs 5.00 lakh on the certificate produced. This is the single most common cause of rejection across the Gujarat corporations.
- Caste certificate not naming Rabari or Bharwad, or issued by an authority the corporation does not accept.
- Age outside 21 to 50 on the date of application.
- A loan already running in the family, or the applicant standing guarantor on an outstanding loan.
- Bank account not in the applicant's own name, which blocks disbursement.
- Applying after the round closed. The portal shuts at the announced minute. The last published window ended at 11.59 pm on 10 July 2026.
Key dates
The Gopalak Vikas Nigam does not accept applications all year. It opens direct-lending rounds when funds are allotted and advertises the window on the portal; the most recent published window ran from 11 June 2026 to 10 July 2026. Because these rounds are short, keep the caste and income certificates current so that you are not chasing paperwork after a window opens.
