What is the GNDTDC Micro Finance Scheme?

The Micro Finance Scheme is a small self-employment loan run by the Gujarat Nomadic and Denotified Tribes Development Corporation (GNDTDC), which sits under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat. The corporation is often written in Gujarati records as the Vicharati and Vimukta Jati Vikas Nigam, and it exists solely to finance the notified Nomadic Tribes (NT) and Denotified Tribes (DNT) of the state.

Micro Finance Scheme targets the problem that defines these communities economically: households with mobile or seasonal livelihoods, little or no land, and almost no documented credit history cannot borrow the Rs 50,000 to Rs 1,25,000 that would turn a hand-to-mouth trade into a stable one. Commercial lenders treat that ticket size as unprofitable and the borrower as unrateable. GNDTDC lends it at 5% per annum, far below any informal moneylender rate.

According to the scheme page on sje.gujarat.gov.in, the loan is available for purchasing equipment, raw material or working capital for a small-scale business or enterprise. The corporation does not fix a closed list of trades. What it does check is that the applicant has real experience in whatever trade is proposed.

Key features at a glance

  • Loan of up to Rs 1,25,000 per beneficiary.
  • Interest at 5% per annum.
  • Repayment in 48 equal monthly instalments, including interest, four years.
  • Funding split: 90% National Corporation, 5% Government of Gujarat, 5% beneficiary.
  • Applications are made online on gndcdconline.gujarat.gov.in.

Who is eligible for the Micro Finance Scheme?

You can take this loan if:

  • You are a permanent resident of Gujarat.
  • You belong to a Nomadic Tribe or Denotified Tribe notified in Gujarat, and hold a caste certificate naming that community.
  • You are 21 to 50 years old on the date of application.
  • Your family's annual income is Rs 3,00,000 or less. This ceiling has been in force from 1 April 2018.
  • You have experience and technical skill in the trade or business you propose to run.
  • You can provide suitable collateral or surety.

You are not eligible and cannot apply if:

  • You belong to a community outside the notified NT and DNT lists. General category, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and OBC applicants who are not on the NT/DNT list must approach the corporation that serves their category.
  • Your family income exceeds Rs 3,00,000 a year.
  • You are younger than 21 or older than 50 on the application date.
  • You cannot show experience in the proposed trade. The corporation treats a purely speculative business plan as a ground for rejection.
  • You have no guarantor or collateral to offer.
  • You are an existing defaulter on a GNDTDC or National Corporation loan.

Within the eligible pool, a priority rule applies: at least 50% of the total loan amount sanctioned under the scheme is earmarked for families with an annual income of up to Rs 1,50,000. Applicants in that lower band should make sure their income certificate is attached and legible, because it is what places them in the reserved half.

How much is the loan and how is it repaid?

The maximum sanction is Rs 1,25,000. Interest is charged at 5% per annum and the loan is recovered in 48 equal monthly instalments that include interest, so the borrower pays one flat figure a month for four years, with no step-up.

The funding structure is worth understanding because it explains why the file travels further than the district office. Only 5% of the loan comes from the beneficiary. The Government of Gujarat contributes 5% and the National Corporation contributes 90%. That national share is why sanctions are batched against an annual allocation rather than released continuously, and why a good application can still wait for the next tranche.

Disbursement is made to the beneficiary's own bank account. That is why the online form asks for the account number, bank name, branch name, name as per the account, account type (savings or current), MICR code and IFSC code, and why any mismatch between the account name and the application name will stop the payment even after sanction.

  4. Enter your bank details: account number, bank name, branch name, name as per the account, account type, MICR code and IFSC code.

How to apply offline or with help

  1. Visit the district office of the Developing Castes Welfare / GNDTDC in your district and ask for assistance with the Micro Finance application.
  2. Carry originals and self-attested photocopies of every document, plus your guarantor and their papers.
  3. Have the office staff or a nearby common service point complete the online submission, and collect the printed acknowledgement with the application number.

The Director, Developing Castes Welfare, at Block No. 4, 3rd Floor, Dr. Jivraj Mehta Bhavan, Gandhinagar (+91 79 23253245) is the administrative office above the district machinery for NT and DNT schemes.

How to check your application status

  1. Open gndcdconline.gujarat.gov.in.
  2. Scroll down the homepage and click Know App Status.
  3. Select the scheme name (Micro Finance).
  4. Enter your application number and date of birth, fill in the captcha and click Submit.

The status screen tells you whether the file is under scrutiny, returned for correction, forwarded for sanction or sanctioned. A file "returned for revision" can be edited and resubmitted through the same login.

Why Micro Finance applications get rejected

  • Caste certificate does not name a notified NT or DNT community. A generic OBC certificate is not enough; the certificate must identify the specific community.
  • Income certificate above Rs 3,00,000 or issued too long ago.
  • Age outside the 21 to 50 band on the date of application.
  • No experience proof for the proposed trade — the most common substantive rejection.
  • Photograph or signature file above 15 KB, which silently blocks the upload step and leaves the application incomplete.
  • Unreadable document scans. Re-scan at higher quality rather than photographing a document at an angle.
  • Bank details entered wrongly. A wrong IFSC or a name mismatch will pass scrutiny but fail at disbursement.
  • Existing overdue loan with the corporation or the National Corporation.
  • Annual budget exhausted, in which case the file waits for the next allocation rather than being refused on merit.

Key dates

The Micro Finance Scheme carries no published last date. GNDTDC accepts applications through the year, but sanction lists are drawn against the financial year running 1 April to 31 March and against the National Corporation's release. Applying early in the financial year gives the best chance of a same-year sanction.

Where to raise a grievance

  • District office of Developing Castes Welfare / GNDTDC: first stop for a stalled file.
  • Director, Developing Castes Welfare, Block No. 4, 3rd Floor, Dr. Jivraj Mehta Bhavan, Gandhinagar; +91 79 23253245.
  • Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Block No. 5, 8th Floor, Sachivalaya, Gandhinagar.
  • The Gujarat state grievance portal, for a written complaint with a tracking number.

Applying is free. No official or agent may charge a fee for processing a corporation loan file, and no genuine officer will ask for your portal password or an OTP.

Frequently asked questions

How much loan does the GNDTDC Micro Finance Scheme give?

The Micro Finance Scheme gives a loan of up to Rs 1,25,000 at 5% interest per annum, repayable in 48 equal monthly instalments including interest. The money is meant for equipment, raw material or working capital in a small self-employment venture.

Who is eligible for the Micro Finance Scheme in Gujarat?

Residents of Gujarat belonging to a Nomadic Tribe or Denotified Tribe, aged 21 to 50 on the date of application, with a family annual income of not more than Rs 3,00,000, who have experience in the proposed trade and can provide collateral, are eligible.

Who funds the loan?

Funding is shared three ways — 90% from the National Corporation, 5% from the Government of Gujarat and 5% from the beneficiary. The beneficiary's 5% share is the only own contribution required.

Is collateral security needed for this loan?

Yes, GNDTDC requires suitable collateral or surety for every Micro Finance sanction. Most district offices accept a guarantor with immovable property or a salaried government servant standing as surety.

How do I check my GNDTDC application status?

Open gndcdconline.gujarat.gov.in, scroll down the homepage to "Know App Status", select the scheme name, enter your application number and date of birth, fill in the captcha and click Submit.

Do low-income families get priority?

Yes. At least 50% of the total loan amount sanctioned under the scheme is reserved for families with an annual income of up to Rs 1,50,000, so poorer applicants are financed first when the annual budget is limited.

What businesses can the Micro Finance loan be used for?

The loan is for any small-scale self-employment venture — buying equipment, raw material or working capital. Petty trade, tailoring, cattle rearing, repair work, food stalls and small manufacturing units are all typical uses. The corporation checks that the applicant has experience in whatever is proposed.

Can someone who is not from an NT or DNT community apply?

No. Applicants from outside the notified Nomadic and Denotified Tribes lists are not eligible under this scheme and should approach the corporation that serves their own category, such as the Gujarat Backward Class Development Corporation or the Gujarat Scheduled Caste Development Corporation.
