What is the Transport/ Logistics/ Travels/ Food Court Wyaaj Sahaay scheme?
Transport/ Logistics/ Travels/ Food Court Wyaaj Sahaay, commonly written as Vyaj Sahay, meaning interest assistance: is one component of the Self-Employment Scheme run by the Gujarat Unreserved Educational and Economical Development Corporation (GUEEDC), a corporation under the state's Social Justice and Empowerment Department. GUEEDC exists for one specific group: people of the unreserved, or non-reserved, class in Gujarat, who fall outside the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class categories and therefore outside the welfare corporations built for those groups.
Under this component, GUEEDC pays a 5 per cent interest subsidy on a bank loan of up to Rs 6,00,000 raised to start or expand a business in one of four listed lines of trade: transport, logistics, travel agency work, or a food court. The loan itself is a normal commercial bank loan arranged by the applicant. GUEEDC does not lend the money under this component; it meets part of the interest cost, which is what makes an otherwise ordinary loan affordable for someone starting out.
That distinction matters and is the single most misunderstood point about the scheme. GUEEDC does also act as a direct lender under two neighbouring components of the same Self-Employment Scheme: a vehicle loan of up to Rs 6,00,000 for an auto-rickshaw, taxi or jeep at 5 per cent simple interest, and a small business loan of up to Rs 10,00,000 for shops, medical stores, bookshops and similar ventures. Women applicants are charged 4 per cent instead of 5 per cent on those corporation loans. If what you need is capital, look at those components. If you already have or can get a bank loan, the Wyaaj Sahaay route is the one that fits.

Who is eligible for this GUEEDC interest subsidy?
You can claim the subsidy if:
- You are a resident of Gujarat and can prove it with Aadhaar, a voter ID or a domicile certificate.
- You belong to the unreserved (non-reserved) class and hold a non-reserved category certificate from the Taluka Development Officer, Mamlatdar, District Social Welfare Officer (Non-Reserved) or Deputy Director (Non-Reserved).
- You are aged between 18 and 50 years on the date of application.
- Your annual family income is Rs 6,00,000 or less, certified by the TDO, Mamlatdar or Chief Officer.
- You have a bank loan sanctioned for a transport, logistics, travels or food court business, and the business is registered as required under the applicable rules.
You cannot apply, or will not be eligible, if:
- You belong to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Class category. GUEEDC schemes are reserved for the unreserved class, and the equivalent assistance for reserved categories comes from the Director of Scheduled Caste Welfare, the Tribal Development Department, or the Director of Developing Castes Welfare.
- Your family income exceeds Rs 6,00,000 a year.
- You are below 18 or above 50 years of age.
- You are not a resident of Gujarat.
- Your business does not fall into any of the four listed trades. A general retail shop, for example, belongs under the small business component and not under this one.
- You have no sanctioned bank loan to claim interest assistance on.

How to apply for the Wyaaj Sahaay component
- Arrange the bank loan first. Approach a bank with your project details for the transport, logistics, travels or food court business and get a sanction letter issued in your name.
- Collect the supporting certificates — the non-reserved category certificate, the income certificate and your Gujarat residence proof; from the Mamlatdar or Taluka Development Officer. These take the longest, so start them alongside the loan application.
- Register on esamajkalyan.gujarat.gov.in, Gujarat's e-Samaj Kalyan portal, using your mobile number, then log in and complete your profile.
- Select GUEEDC as the corporation, open the Self-Employment Scheme, and choose the Transport/ Logistics/ Travels/ Food Court Vyaaj Sahaay component.
- Fill the application form with your personal details, category, income, business details, bank loan details and bank account number with IFSC code.
- Upload the scanned documents listed above and submit the application. Print the acknowledgement and note the application number.
- Submit the signed hard copy with self-attested photocopies of every document to the District Social Welfare Officer (Non-Reserved) for your district. The online submission alone does not complete the application.
- Track the file on the same portal and respond promptly if the office asks for a clarification or a missing paper.
How is the interest subsidy paid?
The subsidy is calculated on the interest actually charged by the bank on the sanctioned loan, at 5 per cent a year, on a loan amount of up to Rs 6,00,000. Because it is a reimbursement of interest and not a grant of capital, the money moves only after there is a live loan account generating interest. Payment is made by direct transfer into the applicant's own bank account, which is why a passbook copy or cancelled cheque is a mandatory document.
Applicants should keep the loan account regular. An interest subsidy is support for a performing loan; the corporation is not in a position to pay interest support on an account the bank has classified as irregular.
How do I check my application status?
- Log in to esamajkalyan.gujarat.gov.in with the credentials you used to register.
- Open the application status section and enter your application number from the printed acknowledgement.
- Read the stage shown and any remark recorded by the scrutinising officer.
For anything the portal does not explain, contact the District Social Welfare Officer (Non-Reserved) for your district, who holds the physical file, or call GUEEDC on 079-23258688 or 079-23258684.
Why applications get rejected, and how to fix them
- No non-reserved category certificate, or one issued by an officer who is not competent to issue it. This is the most common single reason a GUEEDC file fails.
- Income above Rs 6,00,000, or an income certificate older than the period the office accepts.
- Age outside the 18 to 50 band on the date of application.
- Hard copy never submitted to the District Social Welfare Officer (Non-Reserved) after online filing.
- Business outside the four listed trades, in which case the file should have been made under the small business component instead.
- Loan sanction letter missing or in a name other than the applicant's.
- Bank account mismatch. A different name, a dormant account, or a wrong IFSC code.
Most of these are correctable. Get the right certificate or the missing paper and file again in the same financial year, since GUEEDC accepts applications through the year against its budget provision rather than in a single window.
Help and grievance redressal
GUEEDC publishes the helpline numbers 079-23258688 and 079-23258684 on gueedc.gujarat.gov.in. Written grievances about a specific application should go to the District Social Welfare Officer (Non-Reserved) in your district first, and then to the Managing Director, GUEEDC, at the corporation's Gandhinagar office.
Applications are free. Neither GUEEDC nor the district office charges for processing, and no agent is authorised to charge a commission for arranging an interest subsidy sanction.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the interest subsidy under the Transport/Logistics/Travels/Food Court Wyaaj Sahaay scheme?
GUEEDC pays a 5 per cent interest subsidy on a bank loan of up to Rs 6,00,000 taken for a transport, logistics, travels or food court business. The loan comes from a bank, not from the corporation; GUEEDC only meets the interest subsidy component on it.
Who can apply for this GUEEDC self-employment interest subsidy?
Residents of Gujarat from the unreserved (non-reserved) category, aged 18 to 50 years, with annual family income of Rs 6,00,000 or less, who have a bank loan sanctioned for a transport, logistics, travels or food court business. A non-reserved category certificate is compulsory.
Does GUEEDC give the loan itself under this component?
No, this component is an interest subsidy on a loan you arrange from a bank. GUEEDC separately runs a vehicle loan scheme of up to Rs 6,00,000 and a small business loan scheme of up to Rs 10,00,000 where the corporation is the lender, but the Wyaaj Sahaay component is only interest support.
Can a Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe or OBC applicant use this scheme?
No. GUEEDC exists specifically for the unreserved class, and applicants from SC, ST and OBC categories are not eligible here. Equivalent self-employment assistance for those categories is run by the Director of Scheduled Caste Welfare, the Tribal Development Department and the Director of Developing Castes Welfare.
Where do I apply for the Wyaaj Sahaay component?
Apply online on Gujarat's e-Samaj Kalyan portal at esamajkalyan.gujarat.gov.in, then submit the signed printout with the document set to the District Social Welfare Officer (Non-Reserved). The scheme page itself is on gueedc.gujarat.gov.in.
Can I apply before my bank loan is sanctioned?
No, in practice the sanction letter is the core document. An interest subsidy is calculated on interest actually charged on a sanctioned loan, so arrange the bank loan first and then file the subsidy application with the sanction letter attached.
Is there a GUEEDC helpline for this scheme?
Yes, GUEEDC publishes 079-23258688 and 079-23258684 on its website. For questions about a specific file, the District Social Welfare Officer (Non-Reserved) for your district is the faster route because that office holds the physical papers.
