Stipends to Students of Minority Caste for Technical and Vocational Courses after SSC is a small maintenance stipend run by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat, and administered through the Director of Developing Castes Welfare. The income ceiling of Rs 6,00,000 per annum is comparatively generous for a stipend of this size, which means the practical constraints on this scheme are the SSC condition, the course type and the annual application window: not income.

Who is eligible for this stipend?

You can claim the stipend if:

• You are a resident of Gujarat.
• You belong to a notified minority community and hold a caste or community certificate saying so.
• You have passed the SSC (Class 10) examination.
• You are enrolled in a recognised professional course or a Government Industrial Training Institute course taken after SSC.
• Your individual and family income does not exceed Rs 6,00,000 per annum.

You are not eligible and cannot apply if:

• You do not belong to a minority community as notified. Students of other categories should look at the parallel schemes of the Director of Developing Castes Welfare and the Director of Scheduled Caste Welfare on the same portal.
• You have not passed SSC. The scheme is expressly a post-SSC stipend, so students still in Class 9 or 10 are outside it.
• Your course is not a recognised professional course or a Government ITI course. General arts, commerce or science degree students are served by other scholarship schemes, not this one.

How much is paid and when?

The stipend is Rs 400 per month for one year, so the full-year value is Rs 4,800 if the student remains enrolled and attends for the full period.

Payment is made by Direct Benefit Transfer to the student's own bank account. Three conditions must hold for the transfer to succeed:

1. The account must be in the student's own name, not a parent's.
2. The account must be Aadhaar-seeded at the bank.
3. The name spelling on the bank record, the Aadhaar record and the scholarship application must agree.

What documents are required?

Scan every document cleanly. Digital Gujarat's stated rule is blunt: unreadable uploaded documents allow the competent authority to reject the application, and there is no separate appeal for a bad scan.

How to apply for the stipend on Digital Gujarat

1. Register. Open the Digital Gujarat portal at digitalgujarat.gov.in and click Click to register. Fill in all the details asked; mobile number, email and a password, and click Save.
2. Log in. Return to the portal, click Login, enter your credentials and sign in.
3. Complete your profile. Open My Profile, fill in every mandatory field, and click Update Profile. The profile update is confirmed with an OTP sent to your registered mobile number. The application form cannot be opened until the profile is complete.
4. Select the department and the service. Under services, choose the Social Justice and Empowerment / Scholarship Services section, select the financial year you are applying for, and pick Stipends to Students of Minority Caste for Technical and Vocational Courses after SSC.
5. Fill the application form. Enter your personal details, SSC result, institute and course details, family income and bank account details exactly as they appear on your documents.
6. Upload the documents. Attach the caste certificate, income certificate, marksheets, fee receipt and bank passbook page. You can also import documents directly from DigiLocker instead of scanning fresh copies.

1. Ask the institute's scholarship coordinator or ITI clerk, who usually submits applications in batches for enrolled students.
2. Use a Common Service Centre or Jan Seva Kendra, which can register and submit on your behalf.
3. Visit the District Social Welfare Officer's office, which handles Developing Castes Welfare scholarships at district level.

To check status, log back in to Digital Gujarat with the same credentials and open the application from your dashboard. The status will show whether the file is with the institute for verification, with the district officer, sanctioned, or returned.

Why applications get rejected, and what to do

• More than one application submitted for the same year, from one institute or from several. Digital Gujarat's rule is that all such applications are rejected. Submit exactly one.
• Unreadable document scans. Re-scan at higher quality; do not photograph a document at an angle.
• Income certificate above Rs 6,00,000 or expired. Get a current certificate from the Mamlatdar.
• Wrong or misleading information in the form. This is treated as a ground for rejection in its own right, not merely a correction.
• Course not recognised for the scheme. Confirm with the institute or the Director of Developing Castes Welfare before applying.
• Institute changed after submission. There is no provision to change the institution once the application has been submitted successfully, so make sure the institute name is right before you confirm.
• Bank account in a parent's name or not Aadhaar-seeded, which fails the DBT after sanction.
• Incomplete sections. The application counts as complete only when every section is filled and the mandatory photo is uploaded.

Digital Gujarat opens scholarship applications for a defined window in each academic year, usually after admissions settle. There is no rolling application.
