Two points cause avoidable confusion. First, the income limit is a family figure, not the student's own earnings. A student who works part-time still has to declare family income. Second, the caste certificate must name a caste on the SEBC list specifically; a generic "backward class" certificate from another state does not satisfy the condition.

What documents are required?

Most of these can be imported directly from DigiLocker inside the Digital Gujarat application form, which avoids upload-quality rejections. Where a document is scanned manually, keep it under the portal's size limit and make sure the seal and signature are legible.

How to apply for the SEBC technical and vocational stipend

1. Open digitalgujarat.gov.in and register as a citizen using your mobile number and email, or log in if you already hold an account. Keep the mobile number active, because every OTP and status message goes to it.
2. Update your profile with your personal details, Aadhaar number, address, caste and bank account. An incomplete profile blocks the scholarship form from opening.
3. Go to the scholarship services section and choose the Director, Developing Castes Welfare schemes for the current academic year.

4. If the status has sat at "pending at institute" for weeks, the block is at the institute, not the government — visit the scholarship cell in person.
5. For a sanctioned application with no credit, verify the account number and IFSC recorded in the form, and confirm at your bank that the account is Aadhaar-seeded and active.

Why applications get rejected, and how to fix them

• Income certificate above the limit or expired. The certificate must show family income within Rs 6,00,000 and be current. Get a fresh one from the Mamlatdar.
• Caste certificate not on the SEBC list. A certificate naming a caste outside Gujarat's SEBC schedule fails scrutiny. Apply under the scheme meant for your category instead.
• Institute did not verify. The single most common practical block. The institute's scholarship cell must approve the application on the portal.
• Bank account not in the student's name. A parent's or joint account will fail DBT validation. Open an account in the student's own name.
