What is MIDH in Gujarat?

Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH), sometimes written on Gujarat portals as Mission for Integrated Horticulture Development, is a centrally sponsored scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare that funds the whole horticulture chain; from planting material at one end to market infrastructure at the other. In Gujarat it is implemented by the Directorate of Horticulture under the Agriculture, Farmers Welfare and Co-operation Department.

MIDH matters in Gujarat because horticulture is not a marginal activity here. Saurashtra's mango and sapota orchards, the Kutch date and pomegranate belt, banana in south Gujarat, cumin, fennel and isabgol in the north, and greenhouse flowers and vegetables around the major cities all sit inside the mission's scope. The scheme's purpose is to raise productivity, push modern technology into orchards, cut post-harvest losses and build the marketing links that determine what a grower actually earns.

What MIDH covers in Gujarat

• Crop development and production support for fruits, vegetables, spices, flowers and other horticulture crops.

Assistance is fixed component by component: each activity has its own unit cost, its own percentage rate and its own ceiling, published in the Gujarat scheme guidelines. Who is eligible for MIDH in Gujarat?

You can apply if:

• You are a farmer and a resident of Gujarat.
• You cultivate horticulture crops or intend to take up horticulture cultivation or a related activity such as a nursery, protected cultivation or a post-harvest unit.
• You hold land records in your name, the 7/12 and 8-A extracts are the documents Gujarat uses.
• You are registered on the iKhedut portal as a beneficiary.
• You have a bank account in the same name as the land record.

MIDH in Gujarat carries no income limit and no caste restriction. Some components offer a higher rate of assistance to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe farmers, in which case a caste certificate is needed to claim the higher rate, but the base component is open to all farmers.

You cannot apply; or will be found not eligible: if:

• You have no land record in your name. A tenant or informal cultivator without a 7/12 entry cannot apply on iKhedut for a land-based component.
• You are not a resident of Gujarat or the land lies outside the state.
• The activity you want funded is not a horticulture component — field crops and animal husbandry run under different iKhedut scheme lists.
• The survey number is jointly held and the other holders have not given written consent.
• You apply after the component window has closed or after the district target has been exhausted.
• You have already drawn assistance for the same component on the same survey number within the period the guidelines bar a repeat claim.

What documents are required for MIDH in Gujarat?

Component-specific papers are often added, a dealer quotation for a mechanisation item, a nursery bill for planting material, or a design and estimate for a poly house. The component page on iKhedut lists what that particular activity needs.

How to apply for MIDH in Gujarat on iKhedut

1. Open ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in and check the scheme list to confirm the horticulture component you want is currently open for applications.
2. Choose Register as Beneficiary and select your type; Farmer or Institutional, then complete registration with your details and mobile number. Save the registration acknowledgement.
3. Log in and open the horticulture section of the scheme list, where MIDH components appear.
4. Click Apply New and complete the form: your details, district, taluka and village, survey number and area, the component you are claiming, and your bank account details.
5. Submit the application, then confirm it. On iKhedut an unconfirmed application is not forwarded for scrutiny, this single step causes more failures than anything else.
6. Print the confirmed application, sign it, and attach copies of your 7/12 and 8-A, Aadhaar card, ration card, bank passbook and the iKhedut registration copy.
7. Submit the signed set to your district horticulture office (or the office the component names) within the time the portal states.
8. Wait for pre-sanction inspection by horticulture staff, execute the work only after the sanction order, and then submit bills for the release of subsidy to your bank account.

Doing the work before the sanction is issued is a common and expensive mistake: most MIDH components require a pre-sanction check, and expenditure incurred before approval may not be reimbursed.

How to apply offline or with assistance

1. Visit your taluka or district horticulture office and ask staff to help you complete the iKhedut form. Gujarat processes horticulture applications through iKhedut, so the office assists and verifies rather than accepting a separate paper application.
2. Alternatively, use a village computer entrepreneur or a common service point to fill the online form and print the confirmation.
3. Carry originals of the 7/12, Aadhaar and bank passbook so that verification is finished in one visit.

How do I check my MIDH application status?

Log in to ikhedut.gujarat.gov.in with your registered mobile number and open the application status page using your application number. The portal shows whether the application is submitted, confirmed, under scrutiny, sanctioned or rejected. Once a sanction is issued, the district horticulture office is the point of contact for inspection dates and for the release of the subsidy. Why MIDH applications get rejected

• Application saved but not confirmed on iKhedut.
• Confirmed printout never submitted to the district horticulture office with the attachments.
• Land record and bank account in different names, or an Aadhaar name that does not match the 7/12.
• Joint survey number without co-owner consent.
• Work executed before sanction, where the component requires prior approval.
• Target exhausted: districts have physical and financial targets, and applications beyond the target are not sanctioned even if otherwise eligible.
• Wrong component chosen for the activity actually planned.
• Missing component-specific papers such as a quotation, bill or design estimate.

When can I apply for MIDH in Gujarat?

iKhedut opens horticulture components in dated windows each financial year, usually announced component-wise, and closes them once the district target is reached. There is no permanently open MIDH window. The practical approach is to register on iKhedut once, keep your 7/12, 8-A, Aadhaar, ration card and bank passbook scanned and ready, and apply in the first days of a window rather than the last, several components fill their targets quickly.
