National Agriculture Market: Why Applications Get Rejected and How to Fix It
This is a supporting guide for National Agriculture Market (e-NAM). See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.
Why National Agriculture Market registrations stall or fail
National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) registrations are declined or held up for a small, predictable set of reasons: a trader applying without a valid APMC or state trading licence, bank details that do not match the applicant's name, a local mandi that has not yet been integrated with the platform, or an identity document the mandi secretary cannot verify at the approval stage. e-NAM approval rests with the mandi secretary, not a central office, so most fixes happen at your mandi's e-NAM help desk. This article works through each reason and its fix; the National Agriculture Market (e-NAM) pillar covers eligibility and the free-registration basics.
Reason 1: Trader applying without a valid trading licence
e-NAM does not itself issue trading licences. According to the e-NAM registration guideline, a trader or commission agent must already hold a valid trading licence issued by the APMC or the state agricultural marketing department. Trader applications submitted without licence details are not eligible for approval by the mandi secretary.
The fix: obtain your APMC or state trading licence first, then enter the licence number and upload the licence in the trader registration form. Farmers and FPOs do not need a trading licence and should not be blocked on this ground, if you are being asked for one as a farmer, you have selected the wrong registration type.
Reason 2: Bank details that do not match your name
The single most common cause of a returned payment on e-NAM is a bank detail mismatch. Sale proceeds are credited online to the account you registered, and an account number, IFSC or account-holder name that does not match your identity causes the credit to fail or the application to be held.
The fix: enter an account number, IFSC and name that match your Aadhaar and passbook exactly. Verify these before the mandi operator submits your enrolment, since payment failures almost always trace back to this step. If a payment has already bounced, correct the bank details in your e-NAM profile and ask the mandi to re-initiate the credit.
Reason 3: Your local mandi is not integrated with e-NAM
A farmer can create an e-NAM login anywhere, but there is nothing to sell on until the mandi you deal with has actually been onboarded. Integration of a mandi is a decision of the state government, not something an individual can trigger.
The fix: confirm with your APMC whether your mandi is on the e-NAM network of 1,500-plus integrated mandis. If it is not, raise the request with your district agriculture marketing officer, the Department gives states a one-time grant of up to Rs 75 lakh per mandi for the hardware and assaying equipment needed to join.
Reason 4: Unverifiable identity or incomplete profile
The mandi secretary approves each registration. An application with an unverifiable identity document, or missing Aadhaar, bank or licence details, is not approved.
The fix: upload a clear Aadhaar card, and for traders the photograph and licence, and complete every profile field before submitting. Visit the mandi e-NAM help desk with your application reference and original documents if approval is pending.
Reason 5: No bids on your listed lot
This is not a rejection but is often mistaken for one. A lot can be listed correctly and still attract no bids, usually because trader participation in that commodity is thin, or the assay grade came back lower than expected.
The fix: ask for the assay report from the mandi laboratory, and consider re-listing. Nothing forces a sale on e-NAM; if the price is poor you can withdraw the lot and bring it back later.
Login and OTP failures
Registration, login and bid alerts all run on OTP sent to your registered mobile number. A wrong or inactive number blocks the whole flow.
The fix: register with a mobile number you control and keep it active. For persistent login or OTP failures, use the toll-free helpline below.
How to track, correct and escalate
- Track your application with the mandi secretary or APMC nodal officer of the mandi you selected — that is where approval sits.
- Correct the flagged field, most commonly bank details or a missing licence, in your e-NAM profile.
- Call the e-NAM toll-free helpline 1800-270-0224 for registration, login or payment issues.
- Raise a written grievance through the grievance option on enam.gov.in; the project cell operates from the NCUI Building, Siri Institutional Area, August Kranti Marg, New Delhi 110016.
Registration and trading on e-NAM are free. No agent or middleman is authorised to charge you for an e-NAM ID, and no official will ask for your OTP or bank password.
