What is Tuition Sahay Yojana (Unreserved Category)?

Tuition Sahay Yojana is an education assistance scheme of the Gujarat Unreserved Educational and Economical Development Corporation (GUEEDC), a corporation under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat. The scheme is written in Gujarati as Tuition Sahay Yojana and is often referred to simply as the tuition help scheme.

GUEEDC exists because unreserved-category families in Gujarat who are financially weak had no corporation of their own. Reserved-category students could go to the SC, ST or SEBC corporations, but a general-category household earning under Rs 6 lakh had no comparable route. GUEEDC was set up to close that gap, and Tuition Sahay Yojana is one of its education schemes.

The problem addressed is specific. Class 11 and 12 science in Gujarat is effectively a two-track system: school classes plus private tuition for physics, chemistry, biology and mathematics. Tuition fees for a full science package run well beyond what a Rs 4-6 lakh household can absorb. GUEEDC therefore pays Rs 15,000 per academic year towards those tuition fees for students who have already shown academic ability by scoring 70 per cent or more in Class 10.

Key features

  • Rs 15,000 per academic year, per eligible student.
  • Available for Class 11 and Class 12, science stream only.
  • Requires 70 per cent or more in Class 10.
  • Family annual income ceiling of Rs 6,00,000.
  • Application must be made in the same academic year as the tuition.
  • The tuition institution must itself satisfy registration, experience, GST and income tax conditions.

Who is eligible for Tuition Sahay Yojana?

You can apply if:

  • You belong to the unreserved (general) category and are a resident of Gujarat.
  • You have scored 70 per cent or more in the Class 10 board examination.
  • You are currently studying in Class 11 or Class 12, science stream.
  • Your family's annual income does not exceed Rs 6,00,000.
  • You are applying within the same academic year for which you are claiming the tuition assistance.
  • Your tuition institution is registered under a valid Act, has at least three years of experience teaching Class 11-12 science, holds GST registration, and has filed income tax returns for the past three years.

You cannot apply, or are not eligible, if:

  • You belong to SC, ST, SEBC or OBC categories. Those students are covered by their own corporations through the e-Samaj Kalyan portal, and GUEEDC's scheme is not for them.
  • You scored below 70 per cent in Class 10.
  • You are in the commerce or arts stream, or in a diploma or ITI course.
  • Family income is above Rs 6,00,000 a year.
  • You are taking tuition from an unregistered tutor or an institution that cannot produce GST registration and three years of income tax returns.
  • You are applying for a previous academic year after it has closed.

What documents are required for Tuition Sahay Yojana?

Document Mandatory Notes
Class 10 mark sheet Yes Must show 70% or more
Class 11/12 science admission proof Yes Bonafide certificate or fee receipt
Income certificate Yes Family income up to Rs 6,00,000
Unreserved category certificate Yes Establishes category
Aadhaar card Yes Identification and DBT seeding
Bank passbook or cancelled cheque Yes Preferably in the student's own name
Tuition institution registration papers Yes Registration, GST, 3 years of ITRs
School leaving certificate No Residence and date of birth

Collect the tuition institution's papers before you start the online form. Students routinely complete every personal field and then stall because the coaching class has not given them its GST certificate and income tax returns.

How to apply for Tuition Sahay Yojana online

  1. Open gueedconline.gujarat.gov.in, the GUEEDC online application portal, or reach it through the corporation site at gueedc.gujarat.gov.in.
  2. Select Gujarat Unreserved Education and Economical Development Corporation, then choose Tuition Sahay Yojana and click Apply Now.
  3. Register as a new user with your name, mobile number and email. Use a mobile number that will stay active. The OTP and all status messages go there.
  4. Sign in with the credentials you created and open the Tuition Sahay application form.
  5. Verify or update your permanent address, then fill in your Class 10 percentage, current class and stream, school details and family income.
  6. Enter the tuition institution's name, registration number and GST number.
  7. Enter your bank account number and IFSC exactly as in the passbook.
  8. Upload all documents in the sizes and formats the portal specifies, then submit and note down the application number.
  9. Print the submitted application, sign it, attach self-attested copies of every document, and send it to the Deputy Director (Non-Reserved Category) or the District Social Welfare Officer by post, courier or in person.

The online submission alone is not a complete application. GUEEDC processes the case only after the signed physical set reaches the district office.

How to check your application status

  1. Sign in at gueedconline.gujarat.gov.in with the same credentials you used to apply.
  2. Open the application list and check the status against your application number.
  3. If the status has not moved for several weeks, call the GUEEDC helpline on 079-23258684 or 079-23258688 with the application number ready.
  4. For district-level queries, use the district implementing officer directory published as a PDF on the portal.

When can you apply?

GUEEDC opens the Tuition Sahay window each academic year and publishes the dates on gueedconline.gujarat.gov.in. The binding rule stated in the scheme conditions is that the application must be made in the same academic year for which the tuition assistance is claimed. You cannot come back a year later. Because the corporation runs several schemes with different windows, check the portal notice board rather than assuming last year's dates repeat.

Why Tuition Sahay applications get rejected

  • Class 10 percentage below 70, which is a hard cut-off.
  • Wrong stream — commerce or arts instead of science.
  • Income certificate expired or above Rs 6,00,000.
  • Tuition institution not eligible; no GST registration, less than three years of Class 11-12 science experience, or missing income tax returns.
  • Physical application never sent, so the online form sits unprocessed.
  • Bank account not in the student's name or not Aadhaar-seeded, which stops the DBT credit even after approval.
  • Category mismatch. A reserved-category student applying to GUEEDC instead of the appropriate corporation.

Most of these are fixable in the next cycle. The income certificate is the item worth handling early, since Mamlatdar offices take time and a certificate that expires mid-process forces a fresh submission.

What other GUEEDC schemes can you use?

GUEEDC runs a group of schemes for the same unreserved-category families, and students rejected on stream or marks often qualify elsewhere:

  • Education loan of up to Rs 10 lakh at 4 per cent interest for professional courses.
  • Foreign education loan of up to Rs 15 lakh for higher studies abroad.
  • Food bill assistance of Rs 1,200 a month for 10 months for hostel students.
  • Coaching assistance of Rs 20,000 a year for JEE, NEET and similar competitive examinations.
  • Self-employment loan of up to Rs 10 lakh.

All are applied for through the same gueedconline.gujarat.gov.in login, so one registration covers the family's options.

Help and grievance redressal

  • GUEEDC administrative helpline: 079-23258684 and 079-23258688
  • Working hours: 10:30 am to 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on government working days
  • Online portal: gueedconline.gujarat.gov.in, which also carries a Gujarati instruction guide for filling the form
  • District level: Deputy Director (Non-Reserved Category) or the District Social Welfare Officer

There is no application fee. GUEEDC does not appoint agents, and no one should be paid to "get your Tuition Sahay approved".

Frequently asked questions

How much money does Tuition Sahay Yojana give?

Tuition Sahay Yojana pays Rs 15,000 per academic year to each approved student. The amount is meant to offset private tuition fees for the science stream and is credited to the student's bank account, so a student covering both Class 11 and Class 12 can draw the assistance in each of the two years, applying separately each year.

What marks do I need to qualify?

You need at least 70 per cent in the Class 10 board examination. Students below that mark are not eligible, and the Class 10 mark sheet is the document GUEEDC checks first.

What is the income limit for Tuition Sahay Yojana?

Family annual income must not exceed Rs 6,00,000. An income certificate from the Mamlatdar or e-Dhara centre is required, and an expired or out-of-range certificate is one of the most common reasons for rejection.

Can commerce or arts students apply?

No. Tuition Sahay Yojana under GUEEDC is limited to students of the **science** stream in Class 11 and Class 12. Commerce and arts students are not eligible for this particular scheme, though GUEEDC runs other education schemes such as coaching assistance and education loans.

Does the tuition class itself have to meet conditions?

Yes, and this trips up many applicants. GUEEDC requires the tuition institution to be registered under a valid Act, to have at least three years of experience teaching Class 11 and 12 science, to hold GST registration, and to have filed income tax returns for the past three years. Coaching by an unregistered private tutor does not qualify.

Which category of students is this scheme for?

Tuition Sahay Yojana is for students of the unreserved, or general, category in Gujarat. SC, ST, SEBC and OBC students have parallel schemes through their own corporations and the e-Samaj Kalyan portal, so they should apply there rather than to GUEEDC.

Is the application fully online?

No. You apply online at gueedconline.gujarat.gov.in, but you must then print the submitted application, sign it, attach the documents, and send it to the Deputy Director (Non-Reserved Category) or the District Social Welfare Officer by post, courier or in person. An online-only submission is treated as incomplete.

Who do I call if my application is stuck?

Call the GUEEDC administrative helpline on 079-23258684 or 079-23258688 on government working days, between 10:30 am and 2:00 pm or 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm. The corporation also publishes a district implementing officer directory on its portal.
