UP Berojgari Bhatta Yojana (Uttar Pradesh Unemployment Allowance)
Uttar Pradesh state government scheme
UP Berojgari Bhatta Yojana is the Uttar Pradesh unemployment allowance run by the Sewayojan Vibhag, under which educated unemployed youth registered with a district employment exchange were paid a monthly allowance of about Rs 1,000 until they found work. Registration is free on sewayojan.up.nic.in, but no fresh allowance window is open at present.
What is UP Berojgari Bhatta Yojana?
UP Berojgari Bhatta Yojana is the unemployment allowance of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, administered by the Directorate of Training and Employment, known locally as the Sewayojan Vibhag. Under the notified scheme, an educated unemployed young person registered with a district employment exchange received a monthly allowance of about Rs 1,000 through Direct Benefit Transfer until they found work.
The purpose is narrow and specific. An allowance of this size does not replace a salary; it covers the cost of staying in the job market, travel to interviews, examination fees, form fees, internet, for a household that would otherwise push the young person into the first low-paid work available.
An important status note. The official Sewayojan portal, sewayojan.up.nic.in, was checked on 2 August 2026. It offers job-seeker registration, an employer database, government and private job listings and Rojgar Mela participation. It carries no unemployment allowance application module and no allowance form, and the department's downloads page lists only a police verification form. The department helpline, 155330, is the correct place to confirm whether an allowance window is running before you act on anything you read elsewhere.
Many private "yojana" websites present the allowance as an open, live scheme with detailed criteria. Those criteria do not agree with one another, and none of them cites a government order. This guide states what can be verified and marks what cannot.
What was the allowance amount?
- The figure recorded for the Uttar Pradesh unemployment allowance is Rs 1,000 per month, paid by DBT into the beneficiary's Aadhaar-seeded bank account.
- Payment continued until the beneficiary found employment and was expected to be surrendered on getting a job.
- A number of aggregator sites quote Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500. The higher figure could not be confirmed on any Uttar Pradesh government source and should not be relied on.
Who is eligible for the unemployment allowance?
The conditions below reflect the notified Uttar Pradesh scheme. Where a criterion is disputed between sources, that is stated.
You can be considered if:
- You are a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
- You are registered with a district employment exchange through sewayojan.up.nic.in and your registration is current. This is the one non-negotiable condition. The allowance was never paid to anyone outside the exchange rolls.
- You are educated and unemployed. The notified scheme was aimed at graduates; aggregator sources describe an intermediate (Class 12) floor. The qualification bar has been stated differently at different times.
- Your family income is below the ceiling fixed in the scheme order. The notified ceiling was low, and an income certificate from the tehsil is required.
- You are within the prescribed age band. The notified band was 30 to 40 years; widely circulated unofficial descriptions say 21 to 35. Confirm with the department before assuming either.
- You hold an Aadhaar-seeded bank account in your own name for DBT.
You cannot apply or are not eligible if:
- You are already employed in government service, private service or self-employment, including contractual and daily-wage work.
- You are not a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh.
- You are not registered with a district employment exchange, or your registration has lapsed without renewal.
- Your family income exceeds the ceiling in the scheme order.
- You are outside the prescribed age band.
- You are a full-time student still pursuing a course, or you are a pensioner or drawing any other regular government financial assistance of the same nature.
- You conceal employment after starting to draw the allowance. Recovery of the amount and cancellation of the registration follow.
How to apply for UP Berojgari Bhatta
Employment exchange registration is the gateway, and it is open all year. Do this first; without it no allowance claim is possible even when a window opens.
- Open sewayojan.up.nic.in and select Job Seeker → New Account.
- Fill the registration form with your name, father's name, date of birth, district, Aadhaar number, mobile number and email, then set a password.
- Verify your mobile number and email using the OTP and link sent by the portal, and note the registration number generated for you. This is your employment exchange number.
- Complete your profile — educational qualifications, technical qualifications, experience, preferred sector and preferred district. Incomplete profiles do not appear in employer searches.
- Get your documents verified at the district employment exchange; Regional or Sub-Regional Employment Office; carrying your original marksheets, domicile certificate, Aadhaar and photographs.
- Keep the registration renewed as instructed by the portal, so it never lapses.
- When an allowance window is notified, submit the allowance application on sewayojan.up.nic.in with your income certificate and bank details, and track it under your login.
How to apply offline
- Visit your district Regional or Sub-Regional Employment Office with your marksheets, domicile certificate, Aadhaar card and passport photographs.
- Ask the counter to register you on the Sewayojan system and collect the registration card carrying your exchange number.
- Renew the registration on the dates written on the card.
- File any allowance application at the same office when the department notifies a window, and keep the stamped acknowledgement.
How to check your status
- Log in at sewayojan.up.nic.in with your registration number or mobile number and password.
- Open the dashboard to see your registration status, its validity and the jobs matched to your profile.
- Use Job Seeker → Applied Jobs to see the status of applications you have made to advertised vacancies.
- For anything the dashboard does not answer, call 155330 or write to sewayojan-up@gov.in with your registration number.
Common reasons a claim fails
- Employment exchange registration lapsed or never completed at the office.
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, so the DBT credit bounces.
- Name mismatch between Aadhaar, marksheets and the bank account.
- Income certificate expired. Uttar Pradesh income certificates are valid for a limited period and an old one is rejected.
- Employment found and not declared, which converts the payment into a recoverable amount.
- Applying on an unofficial website that has no connection to the department.
What else the Sewayojan department actually offers
Even with no allowance window open, the department runs services worth using:
- Rojgar Melas in all 75 districts, where private employers interview registered candidates directly. Registered users get invitations by SMS.
- Job alerts by email and SMS matched to your qualification and preferred district.
- Government and private vacancy listings searchable by district, salary, qualification and sector.
- Referrals to the state's skilling and self-employment programmes, including Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana, which offers margin money support for setting up an enterprise rather than a monthly allowance.
Help and grievance redressal
- Sewayojan helpline: 155330
- Email: sewayojan-up@gov.in
- District Regional or Sub-Regional Employment Office for registration and verification disputes.
- Jansunwai, jansunwai.up.nic.in, the Uttar Pradesh integrated grievance redressal system, for a formal complaint against the department.
Registration on Sewayojan is free at every stage. Any person demanding money to "get your name on the berojgari bhatta list" is running a fraud, and no government office will ever ask for your Aadhaar OTP or your bank PIN.

Frequently asked questions
Is UP Berojgari Bhatta being paid right now?
No fresh unemployment allowance window is open. The Sewayojan portal at sewayojan.up.nic.in, checked on 2 August 2026, offers job-seeker registration, job search and Rojgar Mela participation, and carries no berojgari bhatta application module or form. Treat any site offering a "berojgari bhatta form" today with suspicion.
How much is the UP unemployment allowance?
The notified Uttar Pradesh unemployment allowance was Rs 1,000 per month, paid until the beneficiary found employment. Several aggregator sites quote a range of Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,500, but no current government order confirming Rs 1,500 could be verified on an official Uttar Pradesh source.
Who can register on the Sewayojan portal?
Any resident of Uttar Pradesh looking for work can register free on sewayojan.up.nic.in, regardless of qualification. Registration gives a district employment exchange number, job alerts by email and SMS, and access to Rojgar Melas held across all 75 districts.
Who cannot claim the unemployment allowance?
Anyone already in government, private or self-employment is not eligible, nor is anyone who is not a permanent resident of Uttar Pradesh, anyone not registered with a district employment exchange, and anyone whose family income is above the ceiling fixed in the scheme order. Students in full-time study and pensioners are also outside the scheme.
Is there any fee to register on Sewayojan?
No. Registration on sewayojan.up.nic.in is completely free and so is the renewal of an employment exchange registration. No agent, cyber cafe or website can charge you for adding your name to an allowance list.
What is the Sewayojan helpline number?
The Sewayojan department helpline is 155330. Queries can also be emailed to sewayojan-up@gov.in.
What should I do while no allowance window is open?
Keep your Sewayojan registration active and attend Rojgar Melas, which are the department's main working service, and look at the state's self- employment schemes such as Mukhyamantri Yuva Swarozgar Yojana and the Chief Minister's internship and skilling programmes for income support tied to training or enterprise.
