What the numbers show

This is a small scheme by number of grantees, and one organisation dominates it. A Lok Sabha answer of 9 February 2026 shows 28 organisations funded in 2024-25 with Rs 1,182.98 lakh. Of that, the Ramakrishna Mission, West Bengal, received Rs 807 lakh.

The trend over the years

The number of organisations rose from 6 in 2020-21 and 2021-22 to 15 in 2022-23, 22 in 2023-24 and 28 in 2024-25. The total amount moved less, between Rs 758.24 lakh and Rs 1,216.5 lakh a year, because the Ramakrishna Mission grant is large and steady: Rs 722.96 lakh in 2020-21, rising each year to Rs 807 lakh in 2024-25. In 2025-26, up to 4 February 2026, six organisations had been authorised Rs 470.76 lakh, including Rs 403.5 lakh for the Ramakrishna Mission.

State differences

Leaving out the Ramakrishna Mission, Delhi is the main base for grantees, with 8 organisations and Rs 103.75 lakh in 2024-25. Most other states had one or two funded organisations, with grants mostly between Rs 11 lakh and Rs 38 lakh.

What the figures do not tell you

The answer does not name the organisations other than the Ramakrishna Mission, and does not show how many applied. Because one grant is so large, the total amount says little about how many groups the scheme reaches. The 2025-26 figures are for part of the year only.

Where to check

These figures come from the Ministry of Culture's answers to Parliament questions. Scheme guidelines are on the ministry's grants portal.
