Jal Jeevan Mission: How to Check Application and Payment Status

This is a supporting guide for Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Jal). See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.

Jal Jeevan Mission: How to Check Application and Payment Status

Jal Jeevan Mission has no central online form for an individual household, so "status" means tracking your village on the Har Ghar Jal dashboard and confirming your household appears in the Village Action Plan: not a payment status, because the mission transfers no cash to households. This article shows exactly what to check and where. For eligibility, the application route and fund-sharing, read the Jal Jeevan Mission (Har Ghar Jal) guide; here we focus only on checking status.

A one-line reminder: JJM, run by the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, delivers an in-kind Functional Household Tap Connection of at least 55 litres per person per day: there is no household bank transfer to track.

Why there is no "application status" to look up centrally

JJM is delivered village by village through the Village Water and Sanitation Committee (Paani Samiti) inside the Gram Panchayat, which prepares a Village Action Plan listing every household to be connected. There is no central applicant login for an individual household. What you can verify is (a) whether your habitation has an approved scheme, and (b) whether your household is on the survey list.

How to check your village on the Har Ghar Jal dashboard

  1. Open jaljeevanmission.gov.in and go to the Har Ghar Jal dashboard.
  2. Select your state, then district, then block, then Gram Panchayat and village.
  3. Read the number of households covered and the percentage of tap connections reported for your village.
  4. Note whether the village is shown as reported Har Ghar Jal: meaning the Gram Sabha has certified that every household has a functional connection.

The dashboard is a reporting view, not a personal account, so it tells you how far your village has progressed rather than the state of one house.

How to confirm your own household is listed

  1. Visit the Gram Panchayat office and ask to see the Village Action Plan household survey for your habitation.
  2. Confirm your household number or house tax record appears in that survey — this is the detail used to plan your connection.
  3. If your household is missing, ask the Paani Samiti to add it, and if the habitation itself is not in any approved plan, raise inclusion in the Gram Sabha, since that is a Gram Sabha decision, not an individual claim.

Checking water quality status

  1. From the national portal, open the Water Quality Management Information System link to see testing results reported for your village.
  2. Ask the Paani Samiti for a field test kit result; trained village women, often at least half the committee, are equipped to run basic field tests.
  3. For a laboratory test, request one through the district water testing laboratory, which is free for community samples in most states.

What each status signal means and what to do next

  • Village shown with under 100% coverage: work is ongoing or your habitation may be later in the plan: ask the block Public Health Engineering (PHE) office for the schedule.
  • Village reported Har Ghar Jal but your tap is dry: the certification is a village-level Gram Sabha declaration; raise your specific connection with the Paani Samiti, which owns operation and maintenance.
  • Household not in the Village Action Plan: get it added via the Paani Samiti or the Gram Sabha before expecting a connection.
  • Scheme built but not commissioned: escalate to the block and district PHE office and the District Water and Sanitation Mission.

About "payment status"

JJM makes no payment to households; funds flow to the state agency and the Gram Panchayat to build the scheme, so there is no beneficiary payment to track. The only money a household handles is any community contribution towards capital cost and the ongoing operation and maintenance user charge fixed locally by the Gram Panchayat; keep those receipts from the Paani Samiti.

Where to escalate a status query

  1. Village level: the Village Water and Sanitation Committee (Paani Samiti) in your Gram Panchayat.
  2. District level: the District Water and Sanitation Mission and the state PHE or Rural Water Supply department.
  3. National level: the National Jal Jeevan Mission at 011-24362705 or njjm.ddws@gov.in.

Several states run their own JJM consumer helplines and grievance portals; the number on your water bill or the state PHE website is usually the fastest route, because operation and maintenance sits at the state and Gram Panchayat level.
