What the numbers show

MSE-CDP pays most of the cost of shared facilities, such as testing labs, design centres and common machinery, for clusters of small firms. A Lok Sabha reply of 30 July 2026 lists every Common Facility Centre completed or approved from 2023-24 onwards. Centres completed in 2025-26 had a total project cost of Rs 11,551.28 lakh, received Rs 8,507.01 lakh in central grant and serve 1,934 enterprises.

The trend over the years

The central grant released for completed centres has stayed at roughly Rs 83 to 85 crore a year over the three years shown. The number of enterprises served peaked in 2024-25 at 2,554. Approvals swing more from year to year: new centres approved in 2023-24 carried Rs 36,232.22 lakh in central grant, against Rs 17,597.45 lakh in 2024-25 and Rs 27,336.13 lakh in 2025-26. Up to the end of July 2026, centres worth Rs 7,590.60 lakh in grant had been approved for 2026-27.

State differences

Completed centres in 2023-24 were mostly in Tamil Nadu, with clusters for knitting in Tiruppur, furniture and printing in Salem, and weaving in Erode, plus two in Yamunanagar, Haryana. Approvals in 2023-24 were spread across Assam, Gujarat and Maharashtra, including food processing and lab-grown diamond clusters in Gujarat. Because the scheme is demand driven, states that send more well-prepared proposals get more centres.

What the figures do not tell you

The enterprises figure for approved centres is the number likely to benefit, not an actual count. The reply does not report how many centres are running at capacity or the jobs created. Infrastructure Development projects, the other part of MSE-CDP, are not included in these totals.
