What is CBSP-EP?

The Capacity Building for Service Providers - Entrepreneurship Programme (CBSP-EP) is a training scheme of the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. It is one stream of the larger Capacity Building for Service Providers (CBSP) scheme, under which the Ministry funds short-term hospitality and tourism training to skill, upskill and reskill people working in, or wanting to enter, the tourism economy.

1. Before enrolment (seat confirmation). After you submit your identity, age and qualification documents to the empanelled institute, ask the institute directly whether your seat in the batch is confirmed. Institutes typically confirm this by phone, email, or a notice at the institute rather than through a tracking number.
2. During training. Your attendance and progress records are maintained by the institute, not by the Ministry of Tourism. If you need proof that you are enrolled (for example, for a leave letter or a local certificate), request it from the institute's administration office.
3. After completion (certificate status). The certificate is issued by the institute once you complete the course. If your certificate is delayed, follow up with the same institute, since it is the issuing authority, not the Ministry.
4. For scheme-level queries. If an institute is unresponsive or you want to confirm that it is genuinely empanelled under CBSP, contact the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India (tourism.gov.in) rather than a general helpline number, since CBSP-EP does not have a dedicated toll-free status line.

In short: track your status with the institute you enrolled through at every stage, and escalate to the Ministry of Tourism only if the institute itself cannot resolve the query.

Common reasons for rejection

Since CBSP-EP works through institute-level enrolment rather than a Ministry application form, "rejection" here usually means being turned away at registration or dropped from a batch, not a file rejected in a portal. The real, recurring reasons are:

• Not meeting the course's age or qualification norm. Each empanelled institute sets its own minimum age and, for some courses, a minimum educational qualification. Applying to a course whose norms you do not meet is the most common reason for turn-away. Fix: ask the institute for the exact criteria of the specific batch before submitting documents, and look for a different CBSP course if you fall outside them.
• Batch already full. Empanelled institutes run CBSP-EP in limited batches with a fixed number of seats. Registering after the batch has filled up means your enrolment will not go through this cycle. Fix: enquire early about upcoming batch dates and register as soon as a batch opens rather than waiting until the announced last date.
• Incomplete or mismatched identity/age proof. If the name, date of birth, or photo on your ID does not match your other documents, institutes will typically hold back enrolment until it is corrected. Fix: carry a consistent, currently valid identity and age proof, and get any name-mismatch corrected with the issuing authority before you approach the institute.
• Applying to a non-empanelled or expired-empanelment institute. Some private institutes advertise "Ministry of Tourism training" without holding current empanelment for CBSP, or their empanelment has lapsed. Training taken there will not carry the CBSP-EP funding or certification. Fix: verify with the Ministry of Tourism that the institute is currently empanelled for CBSP-EP before registering.
• Course does not match your goal. Applicants sometimes register for the Skill Testing and Certification stream (CBSP-STC) when they actually want entrepreneurship-oriented training, or vice versa, and are redirected or turned away. Fix: confirm with the institute that the specific batch you are joining is the CBSP-EP (entrepreneurship) stream, not CBSP-STC.
