Craftsmen Training Scheme: How to Check Admission, Trainee and Result Status

The Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS) has no single "application status" screen, because it is not a cash benefit and admission is run state by state. There are instead three different status checks at three stages: your admission and seat allotment on the state ITI admission portal, your trainee registration on the NCVT MIS portal, and your examination result and certificate: also on NCVT MIS. This article explains each, in order, and what to do when a status is missing.

Stage 1: Admission and seat allotment status

Admission is handled by your state's Directorate of Technical Education or Skill Development, not by the DGT. To check it:

1. Log in to your state ITI admission portal with the application number you were given at registration.
2. View your merit list position; in most states, merit is calculated on your class 10 or class 8 marks.
3. Check the seat allotment round. Allotment is published in rounds, so a "not allotted" result in an early round can change in a later one.
4. If allotted, note the reporting deadline, the allotted seat lapses if you do not report to the ITI with original documents in time.

What the states show varies, so rely on your own portal's status labels rather than a national format.

Stage 2: Trainee registration status on NCVT MIS

Once you are admitted, the institute must register you on the NCVT MIS portal. This record is what your final certificate depends on, so verify it early:

1. Open the NCVT MIS portal and use the trainee search / login route to find your record.
2. Confirm your name, trade, ITI and session are correct.
3. If your trainee record is missing or wrong, contact your ITI principal's office; corrections are made by the institute, not by the trainee.

A trainee not registered on NCVT MIS is blocked from the examination and the certificate later, so this check matters more than most students realise.

Stage 3: Examination result and certificate status

After the NCVT examination:

1. Use the NCVT MIS portal to check your examination result and, later, your certificate status.
2. If marks are missing or wrong, the fix again runs through the ITI principal, since the institute owns the record on NCVT MIS.
3. The National Trade Certificate is awarded by the National Council for Vocational Training after you pass the final exam.

What the different results mean and what to do

• Not allotted (admission): wait for the next allotment round; a low merit rank for a popular trade-and-institute combination is the usual cause.
• Allotted, not reported: report to the ITI with originals before the deadline or the seat lapses.
• Trainee record missing (NCVT MIS): the institute has not registered you, escalate to the ITI principal immediately, before exam season.
• Result withheld or not shown: contact the ITI, and for exam-specific problems use the DGT exam helpdesk.

Because CTS pays no money to a trainee, there is no payment status to track, the only "status" that matters is admission, trainee registration and result. No agent can secure an ITI seat for a fee; admission is decided by merit through the state process.
