What the numbers show

FutureSkills Prime, run by MeitY with NASSCOM, had reached 15,78,310 candidates by 30 November 2025. The figure counts people who enrolled in or completed a course on the platform, so it is larger than the number who went on to earn a certificate or claim the government incentive. MeitY gave the count in a written reply in the Lok Sabha on 10 December 2025, with a year-wise annexure.

The trend over the years

The programme started small, with 91,897 learners in 2020-21. It then grew to 2.59 lakh learners in 2021-22, 2.70 lakh in 2022-23, 2.86 lakh in 2023-24 and 3,40,012 in 2024-25, the highest so far. In the first eight months of 2025-26 it had already recorded 3,31,399 learners, which suggests that the current year is on course to be the biggest.

Who is learning

MeitY says about 41 per cent of learners are women and about 85 per cent come from tier-2 and tier-3 cities. Both shares matter because the programme was meant to spread digital skills beyond the big IT hubs. The platform lists over 500 courses and more than 2,000 digital fluency pathways across fields such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity and data analytics.

What the figures do not tell you

The year-wise table counts enrolments and training, not certifications or job outcomes. A learner who joined in two different years may be counted twice. MeitY has not published state-wise numbers or the count of learners who received the incentive, so there is no official way to tell how many people finished a paid course and got money back.

Where to check the numbers

MeitY gives updated FutureSkills Prime figures mainly through answers in Parliament, which PIB publishes on pib.gov.in. The programme page on digitalindia.gov.in and the learner portal at futureskillsprime.in carry the course list and incentive rules.
