What the numbers show

Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana is one of the largest state cash transfer schemes for women in India. The official portal cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in shows 1,31,35,985 applications received and 1,25,22,542 eligible applicants. The 2026-27 budget speech of the Madhya Pradesh Finance Minister gives the same picture, putting registered women at about 1 crore 25 lakh.

How the amount has grown

The scheme started in 2023 at Rs 1,000 a month. A Women and Child Development Department order of 10 September 2023 raised it to Rs 1,250, and an order of 11 November 2025, following a cabinet decision of 10 November 2025, raised it to Rs 1,500. Both orders are on the portal. At Rs 1,500 a month, each woman gets Rs 18,000 a year.

The budget has grown with the amount. The state's Mera Budget 2025-26 shows a provision of Rs 18,669 crore, and the 2026-27 budget speech proposes Rs 23,882 crore, the first full year at the higher rate.

What the figures do not tell you

The portal counters are cumulative across all registration rounds. They do not show how many women were paid in the latest month, and that number moves as women turn 60, die, give up the benefit or are dropped on later checks. The gap of about 6.1 lakh between applications and eligible applicants includes rejections, duplicates and withdrawn forms, and the portal does not split them. No district-wise or instalment-wise table is published on a .gov.in page, so this page does not list individual monthly releases. A budget provision is also money set aside, not money already spent.
