Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana
Madhya Pradesh state government scheme
Ladli Behna Yojana is a Madhya Pradesh Women and Child Development Department cash transfer that pays Rs 1,500 a month, Rs 18,000 a year, into the Aadhaar-linked bank account of a married, widowed, divorced or abandoned woman aged 21 to 59 whose family income is under Rs 2.5 lakh. Registration is free at gram panchayat and ward camps.
What is Ladli Behna Yojana?
Mukhyamantri Ladli Behna Yojana is a direct cash transfer scheme of the Madhya Pradesh Women and Child Development Department, launched in 2023 and run through the dedicated portal at cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in. The scheme, written in Hindi as ą¤²ą¤¾ą¤”ą¤¼ą¤²ą„ ą¤¬ą¤¹ą¤Øą¤¾ ą¤Æą„ą¤ą¤Øą¤¾ and often searched as Ladli Bahna Yojana, pays a fixed monthly amount into the woman's own bank account rather than into a household account controlled by a male member.
According to the official portal, the current payment is Rs 1,500 per month, which is Rs 18,000 a year. The money is credited by Direct Benefit Transfer to an Aadhaar-seeded, DBT-enabled bank account held singly in the beneficiary's own name. Madhya Pradesh has treated the account condition as the core design choice of the scheme: the transfer is meant to give the woman independent control over a predictable monthly sum.
What the scheme is trying to do
- Give women of low-income families a guaranteed monthly income of their own.
- Improve women's say in household spending on food, health and children's schooling.
- Reduce dependence on informal borrowing for small recurring expenses.
- Strengthen the nutrition and health status of women and their dependent children.
Main features
- Fixed monthly amount, not a loan and not a one-time grant.
- Paid per eligible woman, so two eligible women in one household can each receive it if both individually qualify.
- Fully state-funded by the Government of Madhya Pradesh.
- No repeat application once approved: payment continues automatically as long as eligibility holds.
Who is eligible for Ladli Behna Yojana?
A woman qualifies if:
- She is a resident of Madhya Pradesh with a Samagra family ID.
- She is married, widowed, divorced or abandoned.
- She has completed 21 years and is below 60 years as on 1 January of the application year.
- Her family's combined annual income is Rs 2.5 lakh or less.
- She holds a single bank account in her own name, Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled.
A woman cannot apply, or is removed on verification, if:
- Her family's total annual income is above Rs 2.5 lakh, or any family member is an income tax payer.
- Any family member is a serving or retired government employee, including a pensioner, of a state or central government department, local body, undertaking or aided body. Contract, outsourced and honorarium-based workers are not treated the same way as regular employees.
- She is already receiving Rs 1,250 or more a month from another government scheme.
- A family member is a sitting or former Member of Parliament or Member of the Legislative Assembly.
- A family member has been appointed by the government to a board, corporation, undertaking or commission as chairperson, director or member.
- A family member is an elected representative of a local body, other than a panch or a ward member.
- The family owns more than 5 acres of agricultural land.
- The family has a registered four-wheeled vehicle, other than a tractor, in the name of any member.
The exclusions are checked against the Samagra database, income tax data and vehicle registration data, so a household that hides a disqualifying fact at the camp is usually caught at the verification stage rather than at registration.
What documents are required for Ladli Behna Yojana?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Samagra family ID and member ID | Yes | The form cannot be opened without it |
| Aadhaar card | Yes | Must be linked to both Samagra and the bank account |
| Own single bank account passbook | Yes | Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled; joint accounts rejected |
| Mobile number | Yes | Needed for e-KYC OTP and payment alerts |
| Photograph at the camp | Yes | Captured live by the camp official |
| Marital status proof | No | May be asked of widows, divorced and abandoned women |
The single most common blocker is the Samagra e-KYC. Samagra e-KYC links the Samagra member ID to Aadhaar, and it must be completed before the Ladli Behna form will accept the applicant. It can be done free at a Common Service Centre, at the gram panchayat, or on samagra.gov.in using an Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
How to apply for Ladli Behna Yojana
- Complete Samagra e-KYC first, at the gram panchayat, ward office, Common Service Centre or on samagra.gov.in, so that your Samagra member ID is linked to your Aadhaar number.
- Open a single bank account in your own name, and get it Aadhaar-seeded and DBT-enabled at the branch. Ask the branch specifically for "Aadhaar seeding for DBT", which is different from simply writing the Aadhaar number in the account form.
- Collect the free application form from the gram panchayat, ward office or the registration camp announced in your area, and fill in your name, Samagra IDs, Aadhaar number, mobile number and bank account details.
- Attend the camp in person. The camp official photographs you on the spot, enters the form online on cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in and completes the on-screen verification.
- Collect the printed acknowledgement carrying your application number. The same number is sent to you by SMS and WhatsApp.
- Watch the provisional list displayed at the gram panchayat or ward office. Objections to the list are heard by the local committee, and the final list is published after that.
The whole process is free at every step. No document has to be attested by a lawyer or notary, and no agent is authorised to charge for the form.
How to check Ladli Behna application and payment status
- Open cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in.
- Select the "Application and Payment Status" option on the home page.
- Enter your application number or Samagra member ID, then the captcha.
- Enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number and submit.
The result screen shows the stage the application has reached, whether it was accepted or rejected, and the credit status of each monthly instalment. Payment is normally released to all approved beneficiaries in one batch each month, so a neighbour receiving the money while you do not usually points to a problem in your own bank record rather than to a delay in the scheme.
Why Ladli Behna payments fail or stop
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, or seeded with a different Aadhaar number than the one in the application.
- Account not DBT-enabled ā the seeding exists but the DBT mapper was never updated at the branch.
- Joint account used instead of a single account in the woman's own name.
- Name mismatch between the bank record, Aadhaar and Samagra.
- Dormant or KYC-frozen account at the bank.
- Age crossing 60, at which point the Ladli Behna transfer stops.
- Exclusion found on verification, for example a four-wheeler registration or an income tax return traced to a family member.
For the first four causes the fix is at the bank branch, not on the portal: ask for Aadhaar seeding, DBT enabling and a name correction, then wait for the next monthly cycle. For removal from the list, the route is a written objection to the gram panchayat secretary or ward office and, if that does not resolve it, a complaint on the CM Helpline.
Help and grievance redressal
- Ladli Behna helpline: 0755-2700800
- CM Helpline: 181, which registers a written complaint with a tracking number and routes it to the district Women and Child Development officer
- District office: the District Programme Officer, Women and Child Development, for list, verification and removal disputes
- Local level: gram panchayat secretary in rural areas, ward office in urban areas
Ladli Behna Yojana registration, e-KYC and status checking are all free. No government officer will ask for your OTP, your bank password or a payment to keep your name on the list.

Frequently asked questions
How much money does Ladli Behna Yojana pay every month?
Ladli Behna Yojana pays Rs 1,500 a month, which works out to Rs 18,000 a year, directly into the beneficiary's own Aadhaar-linked bank account. The amount started lower when the scheme opened in 2023 and has been raised in stages by the state government since then.
What is the age limit for Ladli Behna Yojana?
Ladli Behna Yojana is for women who have completed 21 years and are below 60 years, calculated as on 1 January of the year in which the application is made. A woman who turns 60 stops drawing the Ladli Behna amount and is moved to the state's social security pension route.
What is the income limit for Ladli Behna Yojana?
The combined annual income of the whole family must not exceed Rs 2.5 lakh. Income of every member counted in the Samagra family record is added together, not just the applicant's own earnings.
Who is not eligible for Ladli Behna Yojana?
Women whose family pays income tax, families with a serving or pensioned government employee, women already drawing Rs 1,250 or more a month from another government scheme, families with a sitting or former MP or MLA, government appointees to boards and corporations, elected local body representatives above panch or ward member level, families owning more than 5 acres of agricultural land, and families with a registered four-wheeler other than a tractor are all excluded.
Can an unmarried woman apply for Ladli Behna Yojana?
No. Ladli Behna Yojana covers married women, widows, divorced women and abandoned women. Unmarried women are outside the notified beneficiary categories.
How do I check my Ladli Behna payment status?
Open cmladlibahna.mp.gov.in and use the "Application and Payment Status" option with your application number or Samagra member ID, then enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number. The screen shows whether the application is approved and whether each monthly instalment has been credited.
Is there any fee for Ladli Behna Yojana registration?
No. Registration is completely free at gram panchayat, ward office and camp level. No official or agent may charge for filling the form, for e-KYC or for "getting the name added" to the list.
Why has my Ladli Behna instalment stopped?
The usual causes are a bank account that is not Aadhaar-seeded or not DBT-enabled, a name mismatch between Aadhaar and the bank record, a joint account instead of a single account, an account that has gone dormant, or the name being removed after verification showed an exclusion condition or the age crossing 60.
