National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme: How to Check Application and Payment Status

National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme: How to Check Application and Payment Status
Under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), your case status lives in the national Ni-kshay record, not in a public "application tracker". Ni-kshay holds two separate statuses: your beneficiary status (whether you are registered and notified) and your benefit status (whether the Rs 1,000-a-month Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana payment has been processed and marked "Paid"). Ask your treatment supporter, Senior Treatment Supervisor or district TB officer to open your record, quoting your Ni-kshay ID, or call the TB helpline 1800-11-6666.
The National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme guide explains that TB testing and drugs are free and that nutrition money flows by Direct Benefit Transfer. This article focuses only on how to verify where your case and your payment stand.
First, find your Ni-kshay ID
Every notified TB case gets a Ni-kshay ID, generated when a public or private facility notifies you on the Ni-kshay portal. It is printed on your treatment card. Write it down, it is the single reference number for every status and payment query. Without it, field staff have to search by name and phone number, which is slower and error-prone.
Checking your beneficiary (registration) status
Beneficiary status answers one question: is your case actually on Ni-kshay? According to the Ni-kshay knowledge base maintained under NTEP, the DBT module reflects the beneficiary status separately from the payment status.
- Take your Ni-kshay ID and any government ID to your treatment supporter, Senior Treatment Supervisor, or the district TB officer.
- Ask them to open your record on the Ni-kshay portal; patients are generally not given a self-login, so the record is read to you by the health worker.
- Confirm three things: the case is notified, your bank details are entered, and those bank details have been validated. Nutrition payments cannot start until the bank account is validated.
Checking your benefit (payment) status
Benefit status tracks the Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana money. The NTEP knowledge base describes a two-stage flow: each benefit undergoes two levels of approval in Ni-kshay before it is sent to the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) for payment. Once PFMS credits the money, it informs Ni-kshay and the benefit is displayed as "Paid".
So a benefit can sit at one of several points:
- Pending approval. The instalment is raised but not yet cleared by the two approvers at the district level.
- Sent to PFMS; approved and forwarded for payment.
- Paid — money credited to the beneficiary's account.
- Failed: validation or payment failed; the NTEP system displays the reason to the health worker so it can be corrected and re-triggered.
Ask the health worker which of these your latest instalment shows. If it reads "Failed", ask for the displayed reason rather than guessing.
What each recorded follow-up means for your money
Continued monthly payments depend on recorded follow-up. Ni-kshay releases subsequent instalments against documented follow-up examinations. If a payment has stopped mid-treatment, the first thing to check is whether your latest follow-up sputum examination was actually entered in your record, an unrecorded follow-up quietly halts the next instalment.
If a payment is missing
- Confirm the case is notified and the bank account is Aadhaar-seeded and validated.
- Check that the most recent follow-up examination is recorded.
- Call the Ni-kshay Sampark TB helpline on 1800-11-6666, toll-free, with your Ni-kshay ID ready. A missed call also works.
- For a persistent problem, raise it with your District TB Officer, who can see the DBT beneficiary and benefit reports in Ni-kshay and re-trigger a failed payment after the error is fixed.
Frequently asked questions
Can I log in to Ni-kshay myself to check status? Ni-kshay is a health-worker system; patients usually check status through their treatment supporter, Senior Treatment Supervisor or the district TB office, not a personal login. The TB helpline 1800-11-6666 is the patient-facing route.
What does "Paid" mean? It means PFMS has credited the instalment to your account and confirmed it back to Ni-kshay. If your passbook does not show it despite a "Paid" status, raise it with the district TB office to check the account details on file.
How long does the first payment take? Timelines are not fixed publicly because the benefit passes two approvals and then PFMS before it is paid. Make sure your bank details are validated early, that is the step most within your control.
