Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: How to Check Application and Payment Status

This is a supporting guide for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.

Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana: How to Check Application and Payment Status

To check your Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) status, open pmfby.gov.in, click Application Status on the homepage, select the season and year, enter your application (receipt) number, complete the CAPTCHA and search; your current stage appears at once. This article walks through the portal, the farmer login, the mobile app and the 14447 helpline, and explains what each status means. The parent PMFBY guide covers enrolment, premium and claim rules in full.

Method 1: Check application status with your receipt number

  1. Go to the National Crop Insurance Portal at pmfby.gov.in.
  2. Click Application Status on the homepage.
  3. Select the season (kharif/rabi) and year for which you enrolled.
  4. Enter your application / policy receipt number. The number saved when you enrolled online or received at a bank/CSC.
  5. Enter the CAPTCHA and click Search.

The screen shows the stage of your policy: submitted, premium debited, policy generated, or under processing. Keep this receipt number safe, you also need it to file a loss intimation.

Method 2: Farmer login on the portal

If you enrolled yourself online, you can see everything in one dashboard:

  1. On pmfby.gov.in, open Farmer Corner → Farmer Login.
  2. Enter the mobile number linked to your PMFBY account and verify the OTP.
  3. Your dashboard lists your policies, application status and claim status for each season.

Method 3: Crop Insurance mobile app

The Crop Insurance app shows the same policy and claim status as the portal, and it also lets you file a loss intimation. It is the most convenient route on a phone once your policy is generated.

Method 4: The 14447 helpline and WhatsApp

Call the Krishi Rakshak Portal and Helpline (KRPH) on 14447. The toll-free single-window number launched on 24 February 2024, and give your name, policy number, crop and the nature of any damage; you receive a ticket number by SMS. A WhatsApp chatbot on 7065514447 answers scheme and status queries and works even on a basic connection.

What each status means and what to do

  • Application submitted / under processing; your proposal is in but the policy is not yet generated. If it stays here near the cut-off, confirm with your bank, CSC or intermediary.
  • Premium debited but policy not uploaded — a real risk when an intermediary collects premium but fails to upload the policy to the portal. Always re-check that your application number actually appears on pmfby.gov.in; an unuploaded policy will not pay a claim.
  • Policy generated, you are covered for the notified crop and season. Save the policy receipt.
  • Claim under process, for widespread yield loss, claims are computed from state Crop Cutting Experiments comparing actual yield against threshold yield; individual inspection is not used, so this stage can take time after harvest.
  • Claim approved / paid, the amount is credited by Direct Benefit Transfer to your bank account.

How to check payment (claim) status

Claims are paid by DBT into your bank account, so verify payment two ways:

  1. On the portal or app, the claim status against your policy moves to approved/paid.
  2. In your bank passbook, the credit confirms receipt.

If the claim shows approved but no money arrived, the usual cause is incorrect or inactive bank account details, a wrong IFSC, a dormant account, or an Aadhaar-seeding gap holds up the DBT even after approval. Correct your bank details through your enrolment channel to release the credit.

If the status is stuck

  1. Confirm the policy is on the portal using your application number. This catches the "premium debited, policy not uploaded" problem early.
  2. Raise a ticket on 14447 or the WhatsApp chatbot for a formal grievance with a tracking number.
  3. Approach your district agriculture officer for disputes over crop cutting experiments and yield data.

No agent can charge you to "get your claim passed"; claims are computed from notified yield data and insurer assessments, not from applications made on your behalf, and status checks on pmfby.gov.in are free.
