Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan: How to Check Application and Payment Status

Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan: How to Check Application and Payment Status
Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) is a contributory pension scheme, so "status" means two different things at two different stages: while you are contributing, you check that each monthly auto-debit has gone through; after age 60, you check that the Rs 3,000 monthly pension is being credited. This article covers how to verify both on the official maandhan.in portal run by the Ministry of Labour and Employment, and what to do when something is missing.
For eligibility, contribution slabs and enrolment, read the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan guide. In brief, workers aged 18–40 earning up to Rs 15,000 a month contribute Rs 55–Rs 200, matched by the government, for a Rs 3,000 monthly pension from age 60.
What you need before checking
- Your Shram Yogi Card, which carries your unique PM-SYM pension account number.
- Your registered mobile number for OTP verification.
- Access to maandhan.in or the CSC that enrolled you.
How to check your contribution status online
- Open maandhan.in and select the subscriber / sign-in option.
- Log in using your PM-SYM pension account number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
- Open your contribution history to see each month's auto-debit.
- Confirm that the debit shows as successful for every month since enrolment.
- Note any month marked as failed or pending, that is the gap you need to close.
What each contribution status means and what to do
- Successful / paid: the auto-debit went through; nothing to do.
- Failed / bounced: usually insufficient balance in the savings account on the debit date, or an inactive mandate. Fix: keep the account funded, and clear arrears through your CSC.
- Pending: the debit is in process; check again after a few days before treating it as failed.
Repeated default can lead to the account being discontinued, so act on failed debits promptly. Arrears are arranged through the Common Service Centre that enrolled you.
How to check pension status after age 60
Once you turn 60 and the pension begins, the Rs 3,000 monthly pension is credited to your bank account. To verify:
- Check your bank passbook or statement for the monthly PM-SYM pension credit.
- Cross-check on maandhan.in using your subscriber login if a credit is missing.
- Confirm your bank account and Aadhaar details are current, since a stale or de-linked account blocks the credit.
The Life Insurance Corporation of India is the pension fund manager and disbursing agency for PM-SYM, so pension disbursement queries route through LIC via the scheme's official channels.
Checking via UMANG
PM-SYM is also available on the UMANG app and portal (web.umang.gov.in), where a subscriber can view scheme details and access services. Use your registered mobile number to sign in.
If your status is wrong or missing
- Confirm the mobile number and account number you are using match those on your Shram Yogi Card.
- Visit the enrolling CSC for contribution-history corrections, arrears and card reprints — the Village Level Entrepreneur can pull up your record.
- Call the PM-SYM helpline on 14434, or the alternate number 1800-267-6888, both listed on maandhan.in.
Never share your OTP or bank PIN with anyone, including a person claiming to help fix your status. No agent may charge a fee to check or correct your PM-SYM record.
FAQ
I lost my Shram Yogi Card, can I still check status? Yes. Visit the CSC that enrolled you to retrieve your pension account number and reprint the card; you need the account number to log in.
Why has my auto-debit stopped? The most common causes are insufficient balance on the debit date or an Aadhaar name mismatch with the bank account. Fix the mandate through your CSC and fund the account.
When does the pension start? From the month after you turn 60, provided contributions were maintained. Verify the first credit in your bank passbook.
What is the PM-SYM helpline? 14434 and 1800-267-6888, both on the official maandhan.in portal.
