AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme: How to Check Application and Payment Status

This is a supporting guide for AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme. See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.

AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme: How to Check Application and Payment Status

Check your AICTE Saksham Scholarship status on the National Scholarship Portal (scholarships.gov.in) by logging in with your OTR number and going to "Check Your Status", it shows the exact stage, from institute verification through sanction and payment. The AICTE Saksham Scholarship Scheme pillar guide covers eligibility and how to apply; this article covers only tracking your application and money after you have applied.

One-line reminder: Saksham pays Rs 50,000 a year to differently abled technical students, disbursed by Direct Benefit Transfer into the student's own Aadhaar-seeded account.

How to check your application status on NSP

  1. Open the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in.
  2. Select Login and enter your OTR (One Time Registration) number and password, then the captcha.
  3. On your dashboard, open Check Your Status (also shown as "Check Application Status").
  4. Read the current stage displayed against your Saksham application, and note your application ID for any follow-up.

What each status means and what to do next

According to National Scholarship Portal guidance, applications move through a set of tracked stages:

  • Submitted / Applied. You have submitted, but your institute has not yet acted. Do nothing except confirm your institute nodal officer knows the application is pending.
  • Verified by Institute; your college has confirmed your enrolment and forwarded the application. This is the step most students wait on; chase the institute nodal officer if it stays "pending at institute".
  • Pending at SNO / DNO, it is with the State or District Nodal Officer for the next tier of verification.
  • Defective, the form has a fixable error and has been returned to you for correction. This is not a rejection. Log in, read the exact defect reason, correct or re-upload the flagged document, and resubmit within the correction window (the NSP typically allows around 30 days — check the exact date on your dashboard).
  • Sanctioned / Approved; AICTE has approved the award; payment follows.
  • Payment Transferred / Disbursed. The money has been released to your account.

How to check the payment (DBT) status

Saksham is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer, so once NSP shows "Sanctioned" or "Payment Transferred", track the actual credit through the Public Financial Management System:

  1. Go to pfms.nic.in.
  2. Use Know Your Payment / Track NSP Payments and enter your bank account number or the details requested.
  3. Confirm whether the transfer has been initiated, is in process, or has been credited.

If NSP shows the payment as transferred but your bank has not credited it, the problem is almost always at the account level, see below.

Payment shows transferred but not received

The commonest cause is an account that is not correctly Aadhaar-seeded, or an account that is not in the student's own name. Under Saksham the account must be the student's own and Aadhaar-seeded for DBT to land.

  1. Ask your bank to confirm the account is Aadhaar-seeded and mapped to the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) mapper.
  2. Check the account number and IFSC you entered on NSP match your passbook exactly.
  3. If both are correct and the money is still missing, raise a query with the NSP helpdesk and PFMS with your application ID and the transfer reference.

Renewal status

Saksham runs for the full course duration subject to annual renewal. Each subsequent year you must file a renewal application on NSP, uploading your passing marksheet and a verification letter from the head of institution. Track the renewal exactly as you tracked the fresh application. A missed renewal ends the scholarship even if your first-year award was sanctioned, so watch the renewal window each cycle.

Where to get help

  • National Scholarship Portal helpdesk: 0120-6619540
  • Your institute's scholarship nodal officer, who handles the institute-level verification step
  • AICTE students' development schemes page: aicte.gov.in/schemes/students-development-schemes

AICTE communicates only through the National Scholarship Portal and its own website. Applying and checking status are free; no agent can accelerate a verification or a payment.
