What is the Pandit Omkarnath music competition?

Pandit Omkarnath Shastriya Sangeet Samaroh is a classical music event of the Gujarat State Sangeet Natak Akademi, listed as one of the Akademi's six schemes. Who can take part?

An artist can enter if:

• The artist performs Hindustani classical music in a category the Akademi has opened for that edition.
• The artist is a resident of Gujarat, since the Akademi is a state body serving artists of the state.
• The artist falls within the age band set in the announcement, where the announcement sets one. The scheme is directed at young artists.
• The artist submits the entry form issued with the announcement before the closing date given in it.

An artist cannot enter if:

• The artist is outside Gujarat. Artists resident in other states are not eligible for a Gujarat State Sangeet Natak Akademi platform and should approach their own state akademi or the Sangeet Natak Akademi at the national level.
