Personality Development and Yogasan Training Camp for Scheduled Caste Youth
Gujarat state government scheme
Personality Development and Yogasan Training Camp is a free 7-day residential style training programme of the Gujarat Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department for Scheduled Caste youth aged 14 to 35. Fifty beneficiaries are selected per district. Apply offline with an Aadhaar card at your District Youth Development Office.
What is the Personality Development and Yogasan Training Camp?
Personality Development and Yogasan Training Camp for Scheduled Caste Youth is a short training programme of the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat, delivered on the ground by District Youth Development Officers across the state's districts. It is a benefit in kind: what the participant receives is seven days of structured training, not money.
The camp combines two strands. The yogasana strand covers physical exercises and guided yoga sessions, taught in structured modules. The personality development strand works on self-esteem, discipline and confidence, the things a young person from a Scheduled Caste household is least likely to have been coached in, and which matter in interviews, competitive examinations and sport. Fifty beneficiaries are selected per district, so the camp runs at a deliberately small scale in each place.
The programme sits within the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, which was constituted as a separate department on 17 December 1990 and handles sports, youth activities, cultural affairs, museums, libraries and the state academies. Gujarat also maintains a Gujarat State Yoga Board under the same department, reflecting how far yoga programming runs through the state's youth work.
Who is eligible for the Personality Development and Yogasan camp?
You can join if:
- You belong to the Scheduled Caste category.
- You are a resident of Gujarat.
- You are aged between 14 and 35 years.
There is no educational qualification requirement and no income limit. A school student of 15 and a working adult of 33 are equally eligible, and the camp does not ask what you do for a living.
You are not eligible if:
- You are not from a Scheduled Caste. The camp is reserved for SC youth; the Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department runs separate youth and yoga activities that are open more widely.
- You are below 14 or above 35 years of age.
- You are not resident in Gujarat.
- The 50 places for your district for that round have already been filled. Selection is capped per district, so eligibility does not guarantee a seat.

How to apply for the Personality Development and Yogasan camp
- Get the application form. Download it from the Sports Directorate where it is published, or ask for a hard copy at your District Youth Development Office.
- Fill in every field on the form, name, address, date of birth, caste, contact number and district.
- Attach the required document copies — Aadhaar card, Scheduled Caste certificate and age proof.
- Submit the completed form at the District Youth Development Office in your district.
- Obtain a submission receipt and keep it. In an offline process this acknowledgement is your only evidence that the application was filed, and it is what you quote when following up.
There is no online application for this camp.
How do I check whether I have been selected?
Follow up with the District Youth Development Office where you submitted the form, quoting the date of submission and your receipt. That office selects the 50 participants for the district and informs them of the camp dates and venue. There is no separate status-tracking portal, because the whole process is administered locally.
Why applications are unsuccessful
- The district quota of 50 is full for that round. This is the single commonest reason an otherwise eligible applicant is not called, and the fix is simply to apply for the next camp.
- Caste certificate not produced. The camp is reserved for Scheduled Caste youth and the certificate is checked.
- Age outside 14 to 35 on the date of the camp.
- Form submitted without a receipt, leaving the applicant unable to prove it was ever filed.
- Incomplete form, a missing contact number is enough to stop a district office from calling a selected candidate.
When are camps held?
Camp dates are set district by district by the District Youth Development Officers, and a statewide application window or last date could not be confirmed on an official Gujarat government source. The reliable step is to ask your District Youth Development Office when the next Personality Development and Yogasan camp is scheduled and when forms are being collected for it, rather than relying on a date published elsewhere.
Where do I get help?
- District Youth Development Office in your district. The office that runs the camp, accepts applications and selects participants.
- Sports, Youth and Cultural Activities Department, Government of Gujarat: sycd.gujarat.gov.in, which lists the department's offices including the Commissionerate of Youth Services and Cultural Activities and the Gujarat State Yoga Board.
No fee is prescribed for this camp. Nobody can secure a place for you for payment, and selection is made by the district office against the 50 available seats.
