What is Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan in Nagaland?

Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA) is a large-scale free health camp campaign for women, adolescent girls and children, run in Nagaland by the Health & Family Welfare Department through the National Health Mission. Chief Minister Dr Neiphiu Rio launched the state campaign at the Capital Convention Centre, Kohima on 17 September 2025, under the theme "Healthy Women, supported Families".

SNSPA is a national initiative that Nagaland implements at state level. It is jointly led by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and the Ministry of Women & Child Development, and the 2025 round was integrated with Poshan Maah 2025. Commissioner & Secretary for Health & Family Welfare, Anoop Khinchi, IAS, described it as designed to strengthen healthcare services for women and children through improved access, better quality care and increased awareness, with more than one lakh health camps organised nationwide. The largest health outreach of its kind.

In Nagaland the campaign's stated objectives are to strengthen early detection and treatment linkages for disease, to deliver essential health services at the grassroots, and to encourage families to adopt healthy lifestyles. The national framing is broader still: reducing maternal and child mortality through preventive healthcare and nutrition, in service of the Viksit Bharat 2047 goal.

Where are SNSPA camps held in Nagaland?

The 2025 campaign was carried out across 523 health units in the state:

Facility type Number
District Hospitals 12
Community Health Centres (CHC) 26
Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) 8
Health & Wellness Centre - PHCs 97
Health & Wellness Centre - Sub Centres 336
AYUSH Health & Wellness Centres 49
Total 523

The Nagaland Institute of Medical Sciences & Research (NIMSR), along with private hospitals and clinics, played an active role in providing specialist services during the campaign. District launches were held at facilities such as Dr Motsuo Memorial District Hospital in Wokha and CHC Tizit in Mon district, and block-level medical camps were organised at places including Pughoboto, Longleng, Pungro, Chozuba and Tuensang.

What free services does SNSPA give?

The Health & Family Welfare Department publishes SNSPA services as a "Basket of FREE Health Services Available" under the campaign and the National Health Mission. The basket has four parts.

Preventive and screening services

  • Non-communicable disease screening; blood pressure, blood sugar and cancer
  • Tuberculosis screening
  • HIV testing
  • Screening for vector-borne diseases including malaria and dengue

Reproductive and child health

  • Antenatal care (ANC) and postnatal care (PNC) services
  • Immunisation
  • Family planning services
  • Anaemia and hygiene support

Specialised and all-round care

  • Eye, ENT, dental and geriatric screening
  • Mental health awareness and counselling
  • Nutrition and diet counselling
  • AYUSH services including yoga and lifestyle guidance

Access and support

  • Ayushman Bharat ABHA ID registration
  • PM-JAY and CMHIS registration on the spot
  • Blood donation and organ donation drives
  • Mobile Medical Unit services for on-site care

The district-level framing published for Wokha adds detail on the clinical targets: early detection and treatment of non-communicable diseases, cancer, tuberculosis, anaemia and sickle cell disease; promotion of nutrition awareness, menstrual hygiene, mental well-being and healthy lifestyles; specialist services in gynaecology, paediatrics, eye care, ENT, dental, dermatology and psychiatry; and maternal and child health interventions including antenatal care, growth monitoring, immunisation and nutrition support.

Who is eligible for SNSPA, and who is not?

You can attend an SNSPA camp if:

  • You are a woman of any age living in Nagaland.
  • You are an adolescent girl.
  • You are a child, brought by a parent or guardian.
  • You are a pregnant woman or new mother needing antenatal, postnatal, nutrition or immunisation services.
  • You are an elderly person needing geriatric, eye, ENT or dental screening, geriatric screening is explicitly in the basket.

There is no income test, no caste criterion, no residence certificate requirement and no card requirement to be seen at an SNSPA camp. It is a public-health outreach campaign, not a means-tested benefit.

You are not eligible, and SNSPA is not the right route, if:

  • You are looking for a cash benefit or a bank transfer. SNSPA gives no money. It delivers services in kind at government health facilities.
  • You need treatment outside the camp basket, such as inpatient surgery. The campaign's role there is treatment linkage. The camp screens you, refers you and registers you for PM-JAY or CMHIS so the hospitalisation itself is covered by insurance.
  • You are looking for the camp outside the campaign window. The 2025 round ran only from 17 September to 2 October 2025. Between rounds, the same services remain available through routine National Health Mission delivery at your Health & Wellness Centre.

How to apply for SNSPA services at a camp in Nagaland

  1. Find out when the camp is happening near you. Ask your ASHA worker or Anganwadi worker, who do the community mobilisation for the campaign, or call the office of the Chief Medical Officer for your district.
  2. Go to the health unit on the camp date. That will be your District Hospital, CHC, UPHC, Health & Wellness Centre or AYUSH HWC — one of the 523 units covered.
  3. Register at the camp desk. No application form, no fee and no eligibility document are required.
  4. Carry any medical records you already have, such as your Mother and Child Protection card, prescriptions or earlier test results, so the screening and any referral are accurate.
  5. Get an ABHA ID made at the same visit if you do not have one, and ask the desk to register your family for PM-JAY or CMHIS if you are not already covered.
  6. Complete the follow-up. If a screening flags high blood pressure, high sugar, a possible cancer, TB or anaemia, take the referral slip to the facility named on it. Early detection is only useful if the treatment linkage is completed.

What else was launched alongside SNSPA in Nagaland?

The state launch on 17 September 2025 was used to strengthen the wider health system at the same time. Chief Minister Rio virtually launched Integrated Public Health Laboratories at District Hospital Dimapur and District Hospital Mon, and flagged off newly inducted ambulances, hearse vans and Rapid Response Team vehicles.

Health & Family Welfare Minister P. Paiwang Konyak confirmed the fleet at the event: the state received 26 ambulances, 12 hearse vans and 6 Boleros as Rapid Response Team vehicles.

Why do people miss out on SNSPA?

Deputy Commissioner of Wokha, Vineet Kumar, IAS, named the recurring obstacles at the district launch, and they are the honest list:

  • Lack of awareness that the camp is happening at all.
  • Limited resources at the facility level during a compressed fortnight.
  • Logistical constraints in reaching remote areas, a real issue across Nagaland's hill districts.
  • General reluctance among certain sections of the population to attend screening camps.

The stated remedy is sustained community engagement and inter-departmental coordination. In practice, the most reliable way to hear about a camp in time is through your ASHA worker, who is part of the mobilisation chain.

Key dates for SNSPA in Nagaland

  • 17 September 2025, national launch, and the state-level launch by the Chief Minister at Kohima. District launches were held the same day at Wokha and elsewhere.
  • 17 September 2025, district-level launch at CHC Tizit, Mon, by Rajya Sabha member S. Phangnon Konyak.
  • 2 October 2025, the fortnight-long campaign concluded on Gandhi Jayanti.

The campaign was designed as a concentrated fortnight rather than a permanent open scheme. Subsequent rounds and district-level camps have followed, so check with your Chief Medical Officer's office or your nearest Health & Wellness Centre for the current round rather than assuming the 2025 window is the only one.

Where do I ask about SNSPA?

  • Directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima-797001, Nagaland
  • Phone: 0370-2270459
  • Email: nagalanddhfw@gmail.com
  • Portal: nagahealth.nagaland.gov.in
  • District level: the office of the Chief Medical Officer, the District Programme Officer (RMNCAH+N) and the District Programme Manager (NHM) for your district
  • Village level: your ASHA or Anganwadi worker

All SNSPA services are free. No official will ask you for a fee, a document charge or a payment to be seen at a camp.

How to check your application status

SNSPA has no application form and no case number, so there is no portal login or tracking ID to check in the usual sense. What you can actually track falls into three parts, and each has its own way to follow up.

1. Checking whether a camp is running or coming up near you

  • Ask your ASHA worker or Anganwadi worker directly, they are part of the campaign's community mobilisation chain and know the local camp calendar before it is publicly announced.
  • Call the office of the Chief Medical Officer for your district, or the District Programme Manager (NHM), to ask for the current camp schedule at your District Hospital, CHC, UPHC, Health & Wellness Centre or AYUSH HWC.
  • Call the Directorate of Health & Family Welfare helpline at 0370-2270459, or check nagahealth.nagaland.gov.in for state-level announcements. New rounds and district camps have followed the 2025 fortnight, so this is the right place to confirm a current round rather than assuming the original 17 September to 2 October 2025 window is still active.

2. Checking the status of a referral made at a camp

If a screening at a camp flagged a concern such as high blood pressure, high blood sugar, a suspected cancer, TB or anaemia, you would have been given a referral slip naming a specific facility. There is no separate tracking system for this. The correct way to check where things stand is to go back to the facility named on the slip, or call it directly, and quote the date of your camp visit and the condition flagged. The District Programme Officer (RMNCAH+N) for your district also oversees these treatment linkages and can be asked to check on a pending referral.

3. Checking your ABHA, PM-JAY or CMHIS registration

If the camp desk registered you for an ABHA ID or enrolled you under PM-JAY or CMHIS, that registration lives in those national and state insurance systems, not in SNSPA itself. To confirm it went through, contact the same camp facility with your name and the date of registration, or raise it with the Chief Medical Officer's office for your district, since SNSPA itself keeps no separate confirmation record or receipt for these on-the-spot registrations.

Documents required

Aadhaar cardoptional
Not required to be seen at a camp, but useful because camps also do ABHA ID registration and PM-JAY and CMHIS enrolment on the spot.
Mother and Child Protection cardoptional
Helpful for pregnant women and mothers of young children so that antenatal care, immunisation and growth monitoring records stay continuous.
CMHIS or Ayushman Bharat cardoptional
Carry it if you already have one. If you do not, the camps register new PM-JAY and CMHIS beneficiaries free of charge.
Existing prescriptions or medical recordsoptional
Useful for the specialist consultations and for follow-up treatment linkage after a screening flags something.
