What documents do I need for PM-YASASVI?

You need seven core items: your One Time Registration (OTR) number, Aadhaar, an OBC/EBC/DNT caste certificate, an income certificate, your previous marksheet, a school bonafide certificate and an Aadhaar-seeded bank passbook, plus a passport photo. Get every one ready before you open the form on scholarships.gov.in, because a single mismatch is the most common cause of rejection. What each document must show

One Time Registration (OTR) number. Generate this first on scholarships.gov.in against your Aadhaar or Aadhaar Enrolment ID, completing the face-authentication step. The 14-digit number stays valid for your whole academic career, so keep it safe.

Aadhaar card. Used for OTR, e-KYC and authentication. The name and date of birth on Aadhaar must match your marksheet and bank records — this is the field most rejections turn on.

Caste certificate. Must state OBC, EBC or DNT and be issued by the competent authority notified by your state. The category on it must match exactly what you select in the form. General, SC and ST students are not eligible.

Income certificate. Must show family income of Rs 2.5 lakh a year or less, from the correct state authority. Enter the figure exactly as printed.

Previous year marksheet. Selection is merit-based on the previous qualifying examination, so the marksheet is the basis of your rank. Upload the correct class result.

Bonafide certificate. Confirms you are studying full-time (not correspondence or distance mode) in a recognised government, government-aided or private institution.

Bank passbook. The account must be Aadhaar-seeded (NPCI-mapped) and active, or DBT will fail even after sanction.

Format and size rules

• Scan each document as a clear, legible file in the format and size the portal specifies at upload (typically PDF or JPEG within a small size cap). Blurred or oversized files get an application marked defective.
• Upload the correct document under the correct label, do not swap a marksheet into the income slot.
• Keep every typed field matching the uploaded certificate character for character.

Common document mistakes

• Applying without OTR. You cannot even start the form.
• Income above Rs 2.5 lakh or a certificate from a non-competent authority.
• Category on the caste certificate not matching the form selection.
• Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, which stalls payment.
• Name/DOB mismatch across Aadhaar, marksheet and bank.
• Skipping institute verification after upload, the school must verify on the portal or the file never reaches the ministry.

Applying is free on scholarships.gov.in. A Common Service Centre may charge the notified Rs 30 assisted-filing fee, but no agent can charge to "arrange" documents or a sanction, and no official will ask for your OTP.
