How do I check my PM-YASASVI status?

Log in to the National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in with your One Time Registration (OTR) number, open "Check Your Status," and read the stage shown. Once the scholarship is sanctioned, track whether the money has reached your bank account separately on the PFMS portal. This article walks through both the application stage and the payment stage. Step 1: Check your application status on the National Scholarship Portal

1. Go to scholarships.gov.in and log in with your 14-digit OTR number and password.
2. Open Check Your Status on the dashboard.
3. Select the academic year and whether your application is Fresh or Renewal.
4. Read the stage displayed against your application ID.

What each application status means

• Pending at Institute / Applied: You have submitted, but your school or institute nodal officer has not yet verified. An unverified application never reaches the ministry; chase your school here first.
• Verified by Institute: Your school has approved and forwarded it to the next level.
• Pending at State / Ministry: Under scrutiny by the state officer or the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment.
• Sanctioned: The scholarship has been approved and sent for payment. This is not the same as money received.
• Rejected / Defective: Sent back with a reason; correct the flagged item and, if the window is open, resubmit.

Step 2: Check the selection or sanctioned list

The Ministry publishes state-wise merit results because selection is merit-based (the YASASVI Entrance Test has been discontinued). To see the sanctioned list, open the online sanctioned-list page on scholarships.gov.in and enter the academic year, application type, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, the scheme, your state and district, then your name and mobile number with the captcha.

Step 3: Track the payment on PFMS

Once your status shows Sanctioned but the amount has not been credited, the money is moving through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS).

1. Open pfms.nic.in and use Know Your Payment or track by NSP application ID.
2. Enter your bank account number, or the reference shown on the portal, and the captcha.
3. Read the payment stage.

What each PFMS payment status means

PFMS shows the payment journey in stages, commonly:

• Validated: Your bank account details passed the account-validation check.
• Approved / Sanctioned: The payment has been authorised at the department.
• Payment Initiated: The transfer has been pushed to your bank.
• Success: Credited to your Aadhaar-seeded account.
• Failed: The transfer bounced — usually because the account is not Aadhaar-seeded, is inactive, or the details do not match.

If PFMS shows Failed, get your bank account Aadhaar-seeded and active, then raise the failed-payment issue so it can be re-pushed.

Why a status can stay stuck

• Institute verification not done before the window closed, the most common single reason an application never progresses.
• Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, which stalls payment even after sanction.
• Name mismatch across Aadhaar, marksheet and bank records.
