PMEGP Application Status: How to Track Your File from Task Force to Subsidy
This is a supporting guide for Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.

PMEGP Application Status: How to Track Your File from Task Force to Subsidy
You track a PMEGP application by logging back in to the PMEGP e-Portal at kviconline.gov.in with the application ID you were given at submission, but the portal only tells you half the story, because a PMEGP file moves through three different owners in turn: the implementing agency, the District Level Task Force Committee, and finally your bank branch. Once the file reaches the bank, the meaningful status lives with the branch, not the portal. For eligibility, subsidy rates and the filing walkthrough, see the main Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) guide.
What you need before checking
- Your application ID from the PMEGP e-Portal, and the login credentials you registered with.
- The mobile number used at registration, since the portal sends OTPs there.
- The name of the implementing agency you applied through (KVIC, state KVIB or DIC) and the bank branch you named in the form. These two decide who you chase at each stage.
Keep the submitted application PDF handy as well; agency and bank staff usually ask for the application ID and your project details together.
Stage 1: Agency scrutiny
After submission the file sits with the implementing agency you chose. It is being checked against eligibility, the negative list and completeness of documents. Check the e-Portal for movement, and if the file appears static, follow up with the District Industries Centre or the state KVIB office, whichever you applied through. This is also the stage at which a missing certificate (caste, rural-area or Class VIII) gets flagged, so ask specifically whether anything is pending from your side.
Stage 2: District Level Task Force Committee
If your application is shortlisted, you are called for an interview before the District Level Task Force Committee. Two status questions matter here:
- Has the interview been scheduled? The DIC or KVIB office holds the scheduling, and they are the right people to ask.
- Has the committee recommended the file? A recommendation moves it to the bank; a rejection ends it at the district level, and you should ask for the reason so it can be addressed in a fresh application.
Attendance matters: a candidate who does not appear when called is treated as not pursuing the application.
Stage 3: Bank appraisal and sanction
Once recommended, the file goes to the bank branch you named for appraisal of the term loan and working capital. From this point the portal will not tell you much; visit or call the branch and ask for the status of the PMEGP proposal by your name and application ID. Useful questions to ask:
- Has the branch received the recommended proposal from the agency?
- Is the file at appraisal, awaiting an inspection of the proposed site, or with the sanctioning authority?
- Is anything pending from you, such as a revised project report, a quotation for machinery, or a KYC document?
The bank appraises independently and can decline a project the committee recommended. A decline at this stage is a credit decision, not a scheme decision.
Stage 4: Subsidy status after sanction
Sanction is not the end of the tracking. The margin money subsidy is claimed by the bank from KVIC and held as a term deposit receipt in your name for the lock-in period, so the status you are now following is the TDR, not a bank transfer to you. Two things to verify with the branch:
- That the margin money claim has been lodged and received, and the TDR created in your name.
- That your EDP training is recorded. Entrepreneurship Development Programme training is required before the subsidy is released, and applicants with prior training of at least 10 days offline or 60 hours online under recognised programmes are exempt from repeating it, but the exemption has to be on file.
At the end of the lock-in, and if the unit is operating satisfactorily, the subsidy is adjusted against your loan account. If you never see that adjustment, ask the branch in writing whether the unit was reported as functioning and whether the EDP certificate was on record.
Why nothing is moving: the usual causes
- Application incomplete: a document flagged at agency scrutiny that you were never told about. Ask the agency directly.
- Interview not attended or not scheduled yet; the district office holds this.
- File not yet forwarded to the bank after the committee recommendation, a common gap between stage 2 and stage 3.
- Bank waiting on you for a revised project report, quotations or KYC.
- EDP not completed, which holds the subsidy even after the loan is disbursed.
Where to get help
- PMEGP toll-free helpline: 1800-180-6763, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
- State-wise helpdesk numbers and email IDs, published on the PMEGP e-Portal helpdesk page at kviconline.gov.in.
- District Industries Centre or state KVIB office: for scrutiny status, interview scheduling and forwarding to the bank.
- Your bank branch: for appraisal, sanction, disbursement, the margin money claim and the final subsidy adjustment.
Checking status costs nothing, and no consultant can move a PMEGP file faster: selection rests with the task force committee and the loan with the bank's own appraisal.
