What is Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana?

Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana (MMY) is a nutrition scheme of the Women and Child Development Department, Government of Gujarat. Locally the scheme is known as Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana in Gujarati and is often referred to simply as the "1000 Days scheme" because of the portal that runs it.

According to the Women and Child Development Department, the scheme was approved for state-wide implementation in financial year 2022-23 and was launched on 18 June 2022 from Vadodara district. The department's stated reasoning is that the first 1,000 days of life, the period from conception to a child's second birthday; form the "First Window of Opportunity", when the foundations of health, growth and neurodevelopment are laid.

Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana addresses that window by supplying a monthly nutrition kit in kind, not cash. The kit contains:

• 1 litre of groundnut oil
• 1 kg of tuver dal (pigeon pea)
• 2 kg of chana (gram)

The oil supplies calories and the dal and chana supply protein, which is the combination the department says is most often missing from the diet of a pregnant woman or a nursing mother in Gujarat.

Stated outcomes

The Women and Child Development Department lists three expected outcomes for Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana: improving the nutritional status of the mother and child, reducing the prevalence of preterm or low-birth-weight babies, and bringing down the Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) and Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR).

Scale of the scheme

The 1000 Days portal publishes live counters. As recorded on 2 August 2026, the portal covers 41 districts and municipal corporations, 426 components and 53,093 Anganwadi centres, and has received 14,04,340 applications of which 4,47,074 have been approved.

Who is eligible for Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana?

You can register if:

• You are a resident of Gujarat.
• You are a woman conceiving for the first time, or
• You are a mother whose first child has not yet completed 2 years of age.

The Women and Child Development Department does not publish an income ceiling, a caste condition or an age limit for Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana. The single qualifying test is that this is a first pregnancy or a first child under two. Both rural and urban women qualify, and the benefit is delivered through the existing Anganwadi network rather than through a bank account.

You are not eligible if:

• You are pregnant with a second or later child.
• Your first child has already crossed 2 years of age, entitlement ends on the child's second birthday.
• You are not a resident of Gujarat. Non-residents cannot apply.

Note one practical point that trips up families: because Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana is a first-pregnancy scheme, a mother who has already received it for her first child cannot register again for a subsequent child. Gujarat runs separate ICDS supplementary nutrition programmes for later pregnancies, and those are handled directly at the Anganwadi centre.

What documents are required for Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana?

Registration deliberately keeps the paperwork thin. Once Aadhaar is validated, the portal pulls the ration card ID, the beneficiary name and the Anganwadi worker's name automatically, so most women only need their Aadhaar number, a working mobile number and the health centre ID.

How to apply for Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana online

1. Open the official portal at 1000d.gujarat.gov.in and switch the language to English or Gujarati as you prefer.
2. Under the Services menu, select Self Enrollment.
3. Enter the beneficiary's details; Aadhaar card number, name in English, date of birth and the beneficiary's affidavit.
4. Click Validate Aadhaar. The ration card ID (NFSA number) and the registered name appear automatically.
5. Check the Anganwadi centre shown. If your Anganwadi is not listed, select the correct one manually; the Anganwadi worker's name then fills in on its own.
6. Enter the mobile number you want to register and click SEND OTP.
7. Type the 4-digit OTP received on that number and click Save & Next.
8. When the portal prompts you to add health-related information, click OK and enter the ID number or email address given to you by your health centre, then click Search.
9. Confirm the auto-filled details: name, status, centre name, last month's status and probable start date, and click Confirm and Submit.
10. Click Print Application and keep the printout with your registration number.

How to register offline through your Anganwadi

1. Visit your nearest Anganwadi centre with your Aadhaar card and your mother-and-child health card or health centre support ID.
2. Ask the Anganwadi worker to enrol you under Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana. Workers have access to the same 1000 Days portal.
3. Give the mobile number to be used for the OTP and complete the verification on the spot.
4. Collect the acknowledgement carrying your registration number, and confirm the day of the month on which kits are distributed at that centre.

The offline route is the practical one for women without a smartphone or a stable internet connection, and it is the route the Women and Child Development Department expects most rural beneficiaries to use. There is no fee either way.

How much benefit does Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana provide?

Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana provides a benefit in kind, every month, for the duration of the entitlement:

• 2 kg chana
• 1 kg tuver dal
• 1 litre groundnut oil

There is no Direct Benefit Transfer and no cash component, so no bank account is needed. Entitlement runs from registration during the first pregnancy until the first child completes 2 years of age, which is why the department frames the scheme around the first 1,000 days.

Kits are handed over at the Anganwadi centre linked to your registration. If you move house within Gujarat, ask the new Anganwadi worker to update your centre on the portal rather than registering afresh, a duplicate registration on the same Aadhaar number will be rejected.

How to check your Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana status

1. Open 1000d.gujarat.gov.in and go to the Services menu.
2. Select Beneficiary Registration Status and enter your registration number, Aadhaar number or mobile number.
3. Use Beneficiary Information to view the details recorded against your Aadhaar number.
4. Use Registration Receipt, enter your registration number, Aadhaar number or mobile number, click Verify and enter the OTP to reprint the form.

The portal has two more self-service options worth knowing. Edit Enrollment lets you correct details — enter the enrolment number, Aadhaar number or mobile number, click Edit, and confirm with the OTP. Mobile Number Correction handles the common case where the number given at registration is no longer in use, which otherwise locks you out of every OTP-based option.

Why Mukhyamantri Matrushakti Yojana registrations get rejected

• Not a first pregnancy or first child, the most common reason. The scheme does not cover second and later children.
• Child has crossed 2 years by the time the application is processed.
• Aadhaar validation failure, usually a name spelling mismatch between Aadhaar and the ration card record.
• Health centre ID not found, which happens when the pregnancy has not yet been registered by the health department. Register at the health centre first.
• Wrong Anganwadi selected, which sends the entitlement to a centre you cannot reach. Fix this through Edit Enrollment.
• Duplicate registration on the same Aadhaar number.

The 1000 Days portal counters show that of 14,04,340 applications received, 4,47,074 have been approved, so a pending status is not by itself a sign that something has gone wrong, follow up with your Anganwadi worker before re-applying.
