How to check your INSPIRE status

To check any INSPIRE status, log in to online-inspire.gov.in with your registered credentials and open the application dashboard for the component you applied under, SHE, Fellowship or Faculty Fellowship. The dashboard shows whether the application is submitted, under scrutiny, recommended or sanctioned. Each component tracks separately, because they run on their own windows. Step-by-step: checking application status

1. Go to online-inspire.gov.in, the single official portal for every INSPIRE component.
2. Log in with the email and password you registered with. There is no separate offline status route.
3. Open the application dashboard for the component you applied under; SHE, INSPIRE Fellowship or INSPIRE Faculty Fellowship. Because each component has its own advertisement and window, its status is tracked independently.
4. Read the current stage shown against your application.

What each status stage means

INSPIRE processing moves through a recognisable sequence. Knowing where you are tells you what to do next.

• Submitted; your application reached DST but has not yet been examined. Action: none; wait for scrutiny.
• Under scrutiny, the Programme Division is verifying eligibility and documents, including the Head of Institution endorsement. Action: keep your phone and email reachable in case a clarification is sought.
• Recommended: your application has cleared scrutiny and is proposed for the award. Action: ensure your bank details on the profile are correct, since disbursement follows.
• Sanctioned, the award is approved. Action: watch for disbursement to the bank account linked through your institution or profile.

If a status stalls at "submitted" well past the component's stated timeline, the likeliest cause is a missing institutional endorsement. An application without the Head of Institution endorsement on the prescribed proforma is not processed.

How to check payment or disbursement status

INSPIRE scholarship and fellowship amounts are disbursed through the host institution or directly to the awardee's bank account. To check payment:

1. Confirm the status shows sanctioned on your dashboard: disbursement does not begin before this.
2. Verify the bank account details on your INSPIRE profile are current and match your name; a mismatch is a common reason a sanctioned amount does not credit.
3. For the SHE scholarship, remember the Rs 80,000 a year is split into Rs 60,000 scholarship and Rs 20,000 mentorship grant, so credits may not arrive as a single sum.
4. If a sanctioned award has not been paid, contact your institution's INSPIRE coordinator first, then the Programme Division.

Write to the INSPIRE Programme Division at inspire.prog-dst@nic.in, and — this matters: prefix the subject line with your component name: INTERNSHIP, SHE, FELLOWSHIP, FACULTY or GENERAL. The helpline is 0124-6690020 and 0124-6690021, open 09:00 to 17:30, Monday to Friday, excluding gazetted holidays. Always quote your application number so your file can be located.

Common status problems and fixes

• Stuck at "submitted", usually the Head of Institution endorsement was never submitted on the prescribed proforma. Get your institution to submit it.
• Rejected at scrutiny (SHE), the most common cause is an ineligible course: a student with a qualifying JEE or AIPMT rank enrolled in engineering or medicine rather than a basic science degree. This is not a status glitch; SHE is restricted to natural and basic sciences.
• Sanctioned but not paid, check bank details and follow up through the institution.
• Cannot see any application; confirm you logged in under the same account, and the correct component, that you applied with.

Is there one deadline to track for all of INSPIRE? No. Each component; SHE, Fellowship, Faculty Fellowship: has its own advertisement and window on online-inspire.gov.in, so track the component you applied under.

Can I check INSPIRE-MANAK status the same way? MANAK nominations are made by the school, not the student directly, so the school holds the nomination status.

Is there any fee to check status or process an application? No. INSPIRE applications are free; DST appoints no agents and requires no payment to be considered.
