PM E-DRIVE: Why Applications Get Rejected and How to Fix It
This is a supporting guide for PM E-DRIVE. See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.
PM E-DRIVE: Why Applications Get Rejected and How to Fix It
A PM E-DRIVE claim usually fails at one point. The Aadhaar face-authenticated e-voucher that the dealer generates at the time of sale. If the e-voucher does not generate, the incentive is not deducted from your invoice, so the whole benefit stops there. The fix is almost always about Aadhaar, your mobile number, or whether the model is registered. This article troubleshoots each failure for PM E-DRIVE, the Ministry of Heavy Industries scheme that deducts the EV subsidy at the dealership rather than reimbursing the buyer later.
One-line reminder: PM E-DRIVE pays a per-kWh demand incentive on eligible e-2 wheelers, e-rickshaws, e-3 wheelers, e-ambulances, e-trucks and e-buses, deducted from the price at the dealership.
Aadhaar face authentication fails at the dealership
The dealer runs your Aadhaar e-KYC using face modality through the PM E-DRIVE app. This is the single most common failure point.
- Retry in better light, holding the phone at eye level, since the camera-based face match is sensitive to glare and low light.
- If it still fails, your Aadhaar photo may be outdated or your biometrics may need refresh, visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra and update your Aadhaar, then return to the dealership.
- Confirm the dealer is using the latest version of the PM E-DRIVE app; an outdated app is a frequent cause the buyer cannot see.
Mobile number not linked to Aadhaar
The e-voucher download link is sent to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar, not any number you give the dealer. If the number is not seeded, authentication may pass but the voucher never reaches you.
- Check your Aadhaar-linked mobile at an Aadhaar Seva Kendra or on myAadhaar, and update it if it is old or belongs to someone else.
- Only after the correct number is linked should the dealer regenerate the voucher.
Model not registered under PM E-DRIVE
The incentive applies only to a model the manufacturer has registered as eligible under the scheme, with the required localisation and battery-performance norms met.
- Before booking, ask the dealer to show the model's registration on pmedrive.heavyindustries.gov.in.
- If the exact variant is not listed, the subsidy cannot be claimed on it — choose a registered variant instead. Do not accept a promise to "adjust it later".
Category window closed or funds exhausted
PM E-DRIVE is fund-limited within its Rs 10,900 crore outlay, so a category can close before its terminal date once the allocation runs out. E-3 wheelers (L5) closed to new claims from 26 December 2025. E-2 wheeler incentives were extended to 31 July 2026 by a notification dated 27 March 2026.
- Get the dealer's live confirmation that the category is still open on the day of purchase. The published end date is not enough.
E-truck claim missing the scrapping certificate
An e-truck claim needs a Certificate of Deposit from a registered scrapping facility, proving an internal combustion truck of equal or higher gross vehicle weight has been scrapped. Without it, the e-truck incentive is refused. Complete scrapping and obtain the certificate before the purchase.
Duplicate claim beyond the permitted limit
You sign a self-declaration confirming you have not exceeded the permitted number of incentive claims in that category. A claim flagged as a duplicate is rejected. If you believe this is an error, raise it with the support desk with your Aadhaar and vehicle details.
Dealer asks you to pay full price and "claim later"
That is not how PM E-DRIVE works. The incentive is deducted from the invoice at the point of sale, and the OEM then reimburses itself from the Ministry. If a dealer refuses to deduct it, this is the fix: do not pay full price, and raise it with the support desk.

FAQ
My e-voucher was not generated, what do I do first? Confirm your Aadhaar-linked mobile number and retry face authentication in good light; most non-generation cases are one of those two. If both are correct, ask the dealer to check the model registration and app version.
Can I claim the subsidy after driving off? No. The e-voucher is generated at the time of purchase and the incentive is deducted then. There is no post-purchase buyer reimbursement route.
Is there any fee to fix a rejected claim? No. No fee is payable to claim a PM E-DRIVE incentive, and no agent is authorised to charge for arranging it.
