Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students: How to Check Application and Payment Status

To check your Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students status, log in at scholarships.gov.in with your application ID, open "Check Your Status" on the applicant dashboard, and read the current stage; institute verification, district verification, state verification or payment released. The Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students, run by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, moves through a fixed chain of verifications before DBT, and this article explains what each stage means and what to do when it stalls. For eligibility and benefit details, see the parent guide.

How to check status on the National Scholarship Portal

  1. Go to scholarships.gov.in and click Login.
  2. Enter your application ID and password (or reset the password using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number).
  3. On the applicant dashboard, open Check Your Status.
  4. Read the current stage shown against your application for the selected academic year.
  5. Note the date stamp, a stage sitting unchanged for weeks usually means action is pending at that level.

What each status means

Applied / Submitted. Your form is filed but no one has acted yet. Nothing to do except wait for institute verification to begin.

Verified by institute / pending at institute. Your college's nodal officer must verify course, fee and enrolment details online. If it is "pending at institute", only your college can move it forward; contact the scholarship nodal officer directly.

Pending at district / state. The application has passed the college and is with the District or State authority for scrutiny. This is normal; delays here are usually batch-processing, not a problem with your form.

Rejected. The portal shows a reason. The most frequent causes are institute verification not completed in time, a bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, a name mismatch, or an expired income certificate.

Payment released / disbursed. The state has sanctioned and the amount has been sent by DBT to your Aadhaar-seeded account.

How to check payment status

The scholarship is paid by Direct Benefit Transfer into the student's own Aadhaar-seeded bank account. Once the portal shows "payment released":

  1. Confirm the amount has reached your account via your bank passbook or net banking.
  2. If the portal shows released but the credit has not arrived, the cause is almost always a bank account not correctly Aadhaar-seeded or an account not in the student's own name.
  3. Ask your bank to confirm the account is NPCI-mapped for DBT, not merely Aadhaar-linked, and get the seeding fixed.

You can also track DBT credits through the Public Finance Management System where your state routes payments through it; your bank statement will show the credit narration.

What to do when status is stuck

  • Stuck at institute for weeks: visit your college scholarship section in person; verification is a compulsory step and an unverified application lapses at year end.
  • Stuck at district or state: raise it with the District Social Welfare Officer of your domicile state, since applications are processed by state of domicile, not where you study.
  • Login or portal errors: call the National Scholarship Portal helpdesk on 0120-6619540.

Renewal status

The scholarship must be renewed each academic year. When you renew, a separate application appears for the new year with its own status chain — check that both the renewal is submitted and the institute has verified it. Keep your application ID from year one; it links your renewals.

FAQ

How long does payment take after sanction? It varies by state; once the portal shows "payment released", the DBT credit typically follows within a few weeks, subject to bank seeding being correct.

My status shows verified but no payment for months: what now? Contact the District Social Welfare Officer of your domicile state; the sanction and release are handled at state level after verification.

Can I check status without my application ID? No. The application ID is required to log in. Recover it using the "forgot application ID" option with your registered mobile number, or ask your college nodal officer, who can see it in the institute dashboard.

Is there a fee to check status? No. Checking status on scholarships.gov.in is free, and no official will ask for your OTP or bank password.
