What is the AICTE-Technical Book Writing & Translation Scheme?

AICTE-Technical Book Writing & Translation Scheme is an initiative of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), a statutory body under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The scheme supports the writing of original technical books and the translation of technical books into Indian languages for use by students in AICTE's technical education stream, engineering degree and diploma programmes and allied disciplines.

According to AICTE, a persistent gap in Indian technical education has been the shortage of high-quality, affordable textbooks authored in India, and especially textbooks available in regional and Indian languages. This scheme addresses that gap directly. Crucially, this is an author-facing scheme, not a student scholarship. The people who apply and receive support are teachers, faculty members and subject experts; the students are the intended readers who benefit from the books that result.

Who is eligible for the AICTE book scheme?

You can apply if you are:

• A faculty member, teacher or subject expert in a technical discipline, competent to write an original technical book in your field.
• A translator with subject knowledge able to render an existing technical book faithfully into an Indian language (for the translation component).
• Able to submit a credible book proposal that maps to a technical curriculum and meets AICTE's quality expectations.

You cannot apply if you are:

3. Register and apply online through the AICTE application system, uploading your biodata, proof of subject expertise and the proposal.
