What is the Bhagwan Budhdh Scholarship?

Bhagwan Budhdh Scholarship is the Gujarat state post-SSC scholarship for Scheduled Caste girl students. The purpose of Bhagwan Budhdh Scholarship is narrow and worth understanding before you apply. The Government of India's post-matric scholarship for Scheduled Caste students applies to families below an income line. Gujarat found that SC girls in families above Rs 2.50 lakh of annual income were falling out of support entirely at exactly the point where education costs climb. • For a diploma-level course, you scored 50% or more in Class 10 or Class 12.
• For a graduate-level course, you scored 50% or more in Class 12.
• Your family income exceeds Rs 2.50 lakh a year, which is the band this state scheme is designed for.
• You are enrolled in a recognised post-SSC course and comply with the Government of India post-matric scholarship norms the scheme adopts.

You cannot apply if:

• You are a boy. The scheme is explicitly restricted to SC girl students.
• You are not from a Scheduled Caste notified in Gujarat.
• You scored below 50% in the qualifying examination for your course level.
• You are still in school up to Class 10. This is a post-SSC scholarship, so the course must be after SSC.
• You are already drawing another scholarship for the same course and year. Post-matric scholarship norms do not allow two scholarships for the same purpose in the same year.
• Your course or institute is not recognised by the relevant authority.

How much does the Bhagwan Budhdh Scholarship pay?

The maintenance allowance follows the standard post-matric course grouping. The rates published by the Director, Scheduled Caste Welfare are:

Group A covers professional degree and postgraduate professional courses such as medicine and engineering; the groups step down through other degree, diploma and certificate courses. In addition to the maintenance allowance, the scheme pays approved tuition fees and other approved charges, and a disability allowance where applicable.

The gap between a Group A hosteller at Rs 13,500 and a Group D day scholar at Rs 2,500 is more than fivefold, so it is worth confirming with your institute which group your course falls in and, if you live in a hostel, attaching the hostel certificate. Students frequently lose several thousand rupees a year simply by not enclosing that one certificate.

How to apply for the Bhagwan Budhdh Scholarship

1. Register on the Digital Gujarat portal at digitalgujarat.gov.in with your mobile number and email, and verify with the OTP. Students who already have a Digital Gujarat account should simply log in.
2. Open the scholarship section and select the academic year, then choose the post-SSC scholarship for SC students. The Gujarat scholarship portal announces the annual window; for 2026-27 the portal shows post-matric applications for SC and OBC students open from 7 June to 30 September 2026.
3. Fill in your personal, caste, income, course and bank details. Enter the bank account in your own name, with the exact IFSC, because a mismatch here is the most common cause of a failed payment.
4. Upload the scanned documents — SC certificate, income certificate, marksheets, admission and fee receipt, bank passbook, Aadhaar, and the hostel certificate if you are a hosteller.
5. Submit the application and print the acknowledgement, noting the application number.
6. Hand the printed application with self-attested photocopies to your institute for verification. The institute verifies enrolment and forwards the application; an unverified online application is never processed.
7. Track the application on the Digital Gujarat portal using the application number until the status shows verified, sanctioned and then paid.

How to check your Bhagwan Budhdh Scholarship status

Log in to digitalgujarat.gov.in and open the scholarship dashboard, where each application shows its stage; pending at institute, verified, sanctioned, or payment released. If the status has sat at "pending at institute" for weeks, the problem is at your college office, not with the department, and the fix is to visit the scholarship clerk in person. If the status shows sanctioned but no money has arrived, the issue is almost always the bank account, and you should raise it with the District Deputy Director (Scheduled Caste Welfare) for your district.

Why Bhagwan Budhdh Scholarship applications get rejected

• Income certificate does not match the scheme band. Students below Rs 2.50 lakh belong on the central post-matric scholarship, not this one.
• Marks below the 50% threshold in the qualifying examination.
• Bank account in a parent's name rather than the student's own.
• Institute did not verify the printed application in time.
• Course or institute not recognised, so the fee component cannot be approved.
• Duplicate scholarship claimed for the same course and year.
• Application filed after the portal window closed. The window is firm and the portal stops accepting fresh applications when it ends.
