Additional Pension to 100% Disabled Ex-Serviceman having Children (Haryana)
Haryana state government scheme
Additional Pension to 100% Disabled Ex-Serviceman having Children is a Haryana Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department scheme paying Rs 100 per child per month, capped at Rs 300 for up to 3 children, to an ex-serviceman released with 100% service-attributable disability. Payment is quarterly. Apply free at saralharyana.gov.in or the Zila Sainik Board.
What is the additional pension for 100% disabled ex-servicemen with children?
Additional Pension to 100% Disabled Ex-Serviceman having Children is a child-linked allowance run by the Department of Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare, Government of Haryana. The department pays Rs 100 per child per month, subject to a maximum of Rs 300 per month, to an ex-serviceman who was released from the Armed Forces because of 100% disability or permanent incapacity to work, where that disability is attributable to service.
Three features define the scheme:
- The additional amount is paid for up to three children, which is what the Rs 300 monthly ceiling amounts to at Rs 100 each.
- Payment is made quarterly, by money order or in cash, rather than as a monthly bank credit.
- The amount for a given child stops at the earliest of four events, the child's death, the child attaining 20 years of age, the child's marriage, or the child taking up employment.
This is a top-up, not a primary pension. It sits on top of the disability pension the ex-serviceman already draws under his Pension Payment Order, and it does not affect that entitlement. Rank makes no difference to the amount.
The Department of Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare is Haryana's nodal department for veterans, disabled ex-servicemen and their dependants. It works through the Rajya Sainik Board at Panchkula and a Zila Sainik Board in each district, and the district boards hold the discharge and disability records that any claim of this kind is verified against.
Who is eligible for this additional pension in Haryana?
You can receive this additional pension if:
- You were a member of the Armed Forces and have been released from service on account of 100% disability or permanent incapacity to work.
- The disability or incapacity is attributable to service.
- You have children, whose ages fall within the scheme's limits.
- You are resident in Haryana and your records are held by a Zila Sainik Board in the state.
You cannot apply, or you are not eligible, if:
- Your assessed disability is less than 100%. The scheme is written around the 100% category and does not scale down for lower percentages.
- The disability is not attributable to armed forces service, for example a condition arising entirely after discharge.
- You have no children, in which case there is no child-linked amount to pay.
- You are not resident in Haryana, since each state's Sainik Board runs its own set of allowances at its own rates.
For an individual child, the entitlement also ends when the child turns 20, marries, becomes employed, or dies. The overall claim continues for any remaining children who still meet those conditions, up to the three-child ceiling.
What documents are required?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Disability certificate, 100% | Yes | Must record the disability as attributable to service |
| Discharge book / service record | Yes | Must show release on account of the disability |
| Pension Payment Order (PPO) | Yes | Shows the existing disability pension |
| Birth certificates of children | Yes | Age determines how long each child's amount runs |
| Haryana residence proof | Yes | Domicile, ration card or voter ID |
| Parivar Pehchan Patra (Family ID) | Yes | Needed for SARAL services |
| Aadhaar card | Yes | Identity and bank seeding |
| Bank passbook | Yes | Account in the ex-serviceman's name |
Take the original discharge book and disability certificate to the Zila Sainik Board. Disability claims are verified against originals, and a photocopy-only file is the most common reason such a case stalls.
How to apply for the additional pension in Haryana
- Visit the Zila Sainik Board in your district with the discharge book, the 100% disability certificate and your PPO, and ask the Sainik Welfare Officer to confirm that your disability is recorded as attributable to service.
- List your children with their dates of birth and collect their birth certificates, since each child's entitlement is checked separately against the age-20, marriage and employment conditions.
- Register on saralharyana.gov.in with your name, mobile number and email, and complete the OTP verification.
- Open the Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department service list on the SARAL portal and select the additional pension for 100% disabled ex-servicemen.
- Fill the form using your Family ID, enter each child's details, and give your bank account exactly as printed in the passbook.
- Upload the documents and submit the application.
- Save the Application ID shown on the acknowledgement: every later query or appeal needs it.
- Produce the originals at the Zila Sainik Board when called, and the board's recommendation goes forward for sanction. Payment then follows on the quarterly cycle.
An Antyodaya SARAL Kendra or a Common Service Centre will file the same application for an ex-serviceman who cannot use the portal directly.
How do you check the status of the claim?
- Open saralharyana.gov.in and select Track Application Status.
- Choose the Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department and the service, enter your Application ID, and submit.
- Send an SMS reading SARAL
Application ID to 7738299899 from any mobile number for the current stage. - Call 1800-2000-023, the Antyodaya SARAL helpline, between 7 am and 9 pm if the case has stayed at one stage for a long time.
- Because payment is quarterly and by money order or cash, do not treat an empty bank account as proof of non-sanction — confirm the disbursement arrangement with the Zila Sainik Board.
Why do claims get rejected or stopped?
- Disability below 100%. The scheme has no partial-disability slab, so a 90% assessment does not qualify.
- Disability not attributable to service, which takes the case outside the scheme entirely.
- Child crossing 20 years, marrying or taking up employment, each of these ends that child's share of the payment, which readers often mistake for the whole allowance being stopped.
- More than three children claimed. The Rs 300 monthly ceiling is applied strictly and cannot be exceeded.
- Records not verifiable at the Zila Sainik Board, usually a missing discharge book or an unreadable disability certificate.
- Residence outside Haryana, which puts the case before another state board.
Where do you complain?
- Zila Sainik Board, district headquarters. The first authority for verification, sanction and payment disputes under this scheme.
- Rajya Sainik Board, Haryana, Panchkula, where the district office cannot resolve the matter.
- Antyodaya SARAL helpline: 1800-2000-023, 7 am to 9 pm, for portal filing and tracking problems.
- CM Window, Haryana's state-wide grievance platform, for unresolved cases.
There is no fee for filing this claim on SARAL or at a Zila Sainik Board office, and no agent is authorised to charge for arranging sanction.
Should you look at other schemes as well?
Additional Pension to 100% Disabled Ex-Serviceman having Children pays at most Rs 300 a month, so it is best treated as one item in a larger package. The same Haryana department runs financial assistance for ex-servicemen aged 60 and above and their widows, marriage grants for daughters of ex-servicemen's widows, and additional pensions for widows of ex-servicemen. A disabled ex-serviceman should ask the Sainik Welfare Officer to run through the full list of state and Kendriya Sainik Board entitlements in one sitting, rather than applying for this allowance in isolation.

Frequently asked questions
How much does the additional pension for a 100% disabled ex-serviceman pay?
The scheme pays Rs 100 per child per month, subject to a maximum of Rs 300 per month. That cap means the amount is paid for a maximum of three children even where the ex-serviceman has more.
How is the additional pension paid out?
Payment is made quarterly, by money order or in cash, rather than as a monthly credit. That is how the Sainik and Ardh Sainik Welfare Department has published the disbursement arrangement for this allowance.
Until what age is the additional amount paid for a child?
The additional amount for a child stops at whichever of four events comes first — the child's death, the child attaining 20 years of age, the child's marriage, or the child becoming employed.
Who is eligible for this scheme?
An ex-serviceman who was a member of the Armed Forces and was released from service because of 100% disability or permanent incapacity to work, where the disability is attributable to service, and who has children, is eligible.
Who cannot apply for this additional pension?
Ex-servicemen with less than 100% disability are not eligible, nor are those whose disability is not attributable to armed forces service, nor those with no children. Ex-servicemen resident outside Haryana must apply to their own state's Sainik Board instead.
Does the amount change with rank?
No. The additional pension is a flat Rs 100 per child per month regardless of the rank the ex-serviceman held at the time of release.
How do I apply?
Apply on the Antyodaya-SARAL portal at saralharyana.gov.in, or through the Zila Sainik Board office in your district, which holds and verifies the service and disability records.
