What is the Haryana agricultural implements and machinery subsidy?

The agricultural implements and machinery subsidy in Haryana is delivered by the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare under the Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), a centrally sponsored mission that the state implements through its own portal at agriharyana.gov.in. Farmers commonly call it the "Krishi Yantra Anudan Yojana" or simply the SMAM scheme.

According to the department's SMAM page, the scheme gives farmers a share of the purchase price of notified farm machines so that mechanisation is affordable for holdings that could never justify buying a tractor-drawn implement at full price. The Haryana State DBT portal lists a parallel state component described as a "Scheme for providing implements/machinery on subsidy to the group of farmers and farmers of SC category", which is why farmer groups and custom hiring centres also appear in the applicant list alongside individuals.

What the scheme sets out to do

  • Put modern implements; rotavators, laser land levellers, direct-seeded rice machines, paddy transplanters, straw balers, within reach of small holdings.
  • Support crop-residue management so that paddy straw is baled or mulched instead of burned.
  • Encourage water-saving practices such as direct seeding of rice and laser land levelling.
  • Build custom hiring capacity, so a farmer who cannot own a machine can still hire one locally.

How much subsidy does Haryana give on farm machinery?

The department publishes two rates:

Category of applicant Subsidy rate
Scheduled Caste farmers, small and marginal farmers, women farmers 50% of the cost or the maximum permissible value, whichever is less
All other farmers 40% of the cost or the maximum permissible value, whichever is less

The percentage is only half the answer: every implement also carries a maximum permissible value, and the farmer receives the lower of the two figures. The department's notified ceilings across the 25 machinery categories run from about Rs 2,000 for a fertiliser broadcaster at the low end to Rs 9,00,000 for a paddy mobile dryer at the top. Common implements such as rotavators, power weeders, threshers, shellers, tractor-operated sprayers and land levellers sit between those extremes.

Because the ceiling binds long before the percentage does on expensive machines, a farmer buying a high-value implement should look up the specific implement's permissible value before assuming they will receive 40% or 50% of the invoice. The Government of India's assistance calculator at agrimachinery.nic.in lets you check the notified assistance for a given implement and category.

Which machines are covered?

The Haryana SMAM page lists 25 categories of farm machinery. The published list includes, among others:

  • Power weeders, battery-operated, electric and solar variants
  • Tractor-operated implements; sprayers, straw balers, fertiliser broadcasters
  • Planters and transplanters: pneumatic planters, paddy transplanters, direct-seeded rice (DSR) machines
  • Threshers and shellers; including maize shellers
  • Land preparation machinery; laser land levellers, rotavators
  • Post-harvest machinery — including paddy mobile dryers, which carry the highest ceiling on the list

Machines must be bought from a manufacturer empanelled with the department. A machine bought from a non-empanelled seller does not qualify, however good the price, and this is one of the costliest mistakes farmers make.

Who is eligible for the Haryana machinery subsidy?

You can apply if:

  • You are a farmer in Haryana with a valid Parivar Pehchan Patra (Family ID).
  • You are registered on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora portal for the season the department specifies. For the 2026 window this meant a Rabi 2024 or Kharif 2025 registration.
  • You own the tractor, where you are applying for a tractor-operated implement.
  • You are applying as a Scheduled Caste farmer, small or marginal farmer, or woman farmer and want the higher 50% rate, with the supporting certificate or land record to prove the category.
  • You are a registered group of farmers, farmer producer organisation or custom hiring centre, under the group component listed on the state DBT portal.

Who cannot apply / who is not eligible:

  • Farmers not registered on Meri Fasal Mera Byora for the specified season.
  • Applicants without a Parivar Pehchan Patra, since the form cannot be opened without it.
  • Applicants for tractor-drawn machinery who do not own a tractor.
  • Farmers who already received subsidy on the same implement within the cooling period the department applies for repeat claims.
  • Anyone applying for more than one machine in a single cycle: up to four can be listed as preferences, but only one is finally sanctioned.
  • Applications filed outside the notified window. The portal simply closes and there is no late or offline route.

How to apply for the Haryana farm machinery subsidy

  1. Check that the window is open, the department posts the dates in the Farmers Corner on agriharyana.gov.in. The 2026 window ran from 28 January 2026 to 16 February 2026.
  2. Confirm your Meri Fasal Mera Byora registration is current for the season named in the notice. If it is not, complete MFMB registration first, because the SMAM form will reject you otherwise.
  3. Open agriharyana.gov.in, go to Farmers Corner → Apply for Agriculture Schemes, and select Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM).
  4. Enter your Parivar Pehchan Patra number and authenticate with the OTP sent to the registered mobile number, so your details load automatically.
  5. Select up to four implements in order of priority. List the machine you most want first: only one machine per beneficiary is finally approved.
  6. Upload the required documents, including the tractor RC if you are applying for a tractor-drawn implement and the SC certificate if you are claiming the 50% rate.
  7. Submit the application and save or print the acknowledgement with the application number.
  8. Watch for the draw of lots / selection list published by the department, then buy the machine from an empanelled manufacturer within the time the selection letter allows, and upload the bill for physical verification.

There is no offline application route for this scheme. The department accepts only online applications through the portal.

How to check your application and subsidy status

  1. Return to agriharyana.gov.in → Farmers Corner and open the SMAM application status or beneficiary list link.
  2. Enter your application number or Family ID to see whether you are in the selected list.
  3. After purchase, track the physical verification stage. A departmental committee inspects the machine and its serial number before subsidy release.
  4. Once verification is cleared, the subsidy is credited by DBT to your Aadhaar-seeded bank account. Check the account statement or use the department's payment status link.

Why farm machinery subsidy claims get rejected

  • Machine bought before selection, or bought from a non-empanelled manufacturer. Both are fatal to the claim.
  • No tractor in the applicant's name for a tractor-drawn implement.
  • Meri Fasal Mera Byora registration missing for the specified season.
  • Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, so the DBT transfer fails.
  • Serial number mismatch between the invoice and the machine inspected during physical verification.
  • Duplicate claim, the same family already sanctioned for the same implement.
  • Application filed after the window closed.

If your file is rejected on a documentary ground, the Deputy Director of Agriculture (DDA) office in your district is the first place to take it. Carry the acknowledgement, the invoice and the rejection message.

Frequently asked questions

How much subsidy does Haryana give on farm machinery?

Haryana's SMAM scheme pays 50% of the cost of the machine to Scheduled Caste farmers, small and marginal farmers and women farmers, and 40% of the cost to all other farmers, in each case capped at the maximum permissible value notified for that implement. The department's published ceilings run from about Rs 2,000 for a fertiliser broadcaster to Rs 9,00,000 for a paddy mobile dryer.

How do I apply for the farm machinery subsidy in Haryana?

Apply online at agriharyana.gov.in during the notified window — open the Farmers Corner, choose Sub-Mission on Agricultural Mechanization (SMAM), enter your Parivar Pehchan Patra number to fetch your details, select up to four implements in order of priority, and submit. There is no offline route.

Can I get subsidy on more than one machine?

No. You may select up to four implements in your application in order of priority, but only one machine per beneficiary is finally approved under the department's published conditions.

Do I need to own a tractor?

Yes, for tractor-operated implements. The department's eligibility conditions state that the beneficiary should own a tractor when applying for tractor-drawn machinery such as rotavators, balers, sprayers and laser land levellers.

What was the last application window?

The window published on agriharyana.gov.in for the SMAM machinery component ran from 28 January 2026 to 16 February 2026. Windows are notified afresh each season, so check the Farmers Corner on the portal rather than assuming a fixed annual date.

Is Meri Fasal Mera Byora registration compulsory?

Yes. The portal requires the applicant to be registered on the Meri Fasal Mera Byora (MFMB) crop registration portal — for the 2026 window the accepted registrations were Rabi 2024 or Kharif 2025. Applications from unregistered farmers are not accepted.

When is the subsidy money paid?

The subsidy is released by Direct Benefit Transfer into the beneficiary's Aadhaar-seeded bank account after the machine has been purchased from an empanelled manufacturer and physically verified by the department's verification committee. The farmer pays the full cost upfront and is reimbursed the subsidy share.

Who do I contact if my application is stuck?

Call the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare toll-free number 1800-180-2117 (Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm) or 0172-2571544, or visit the Deputy Director of Agriculture (DDA) office in your district.
