Technology Mission on Sugarcane, Haryana
Haryana state government scheme
The Technology Mission on Sugarcane is a Haryana Agriculture Department scheme that pays sugarcane growers an incentive of Rs 5,000 per acre for wide-row spacing and single-bud-chip planting, after the state raised the rate from Rs 3,000. Any sugarcane grower in Haryana can apply online on agriharyana.gov.in during the notified registration window.
What is the Technology Mission on Sugarcane in Haryana?
The Technology Mission on Sugarcane is a scheme of the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of Haryana, aimed at raising sugarcane productivity and the income of cane growers in the state's sugarcane belt. It is listed as a departmental scheme on the Haryana State DBT portal, and the department's own sugarcane page situates the work within the National Food Security Mission (NFSM), whose sugarcane component has run on a 60:40 Centre-State cost-sharing basis since 2015-16.
According to the department's NFSM-Sugarcane page, the mission's objectives are to expand the area under sugarcane, raise the income of cane growers, improve soil organic carbon, and increase adoption of high-yielding sugarcane varieties across Haryana. A sub-scheme promoting intercropping with sugarcane was added to the NFSM sugarcane component as well.
The scheme is one leg of a wider Haryana sugarcane policy that also includes the state-advised price for cane and support to cooperative sugar mills. This guide covers the agronomic incentive that individual cane growers can actually claim.
What does the Technology Mission on Sugarcane pay?
The headline benefit is a per-acre incentive for improved planting methods. Haryana raised the incentive for wide-row-spacing and single-bud-chip planting to Rs 5,000 per acre, up from the earlier Rs 3,000 per acre rate for single-bud planting.
The practices the mission promotes
- Wide-row spacing: planting cane rows further apart than traditional spacing, which improves light penetration, allows mechanised operations between rows, and makes intercropping possible.
- Single-bud-chip method of sowing; using single-bud setts raised in a nursery instead of whole three-bud setts. This drastically cuts the quantity of seed cane needed per acre and gives more uniform germination.
- Plantation of variety Co-15023, a high-yielding cane variety the department promotes in the state.
- Training camps and exposure visits for cane growers, so that the agronomy behind the two methods is actually understood in the field rather than copied badly.
The Rs 5,000 is paid per acre of qualifying area, by Direct Benefit Transfer into the farmer's Aadhaar-seeded bank account, after departmental staff physically verify that the field was planted by the promoted method.
Who is eligible for the Technology Mission on Sugarcane?
You can claim the incentive if:
- You are a sugarcane grower in Haryana, cultivating cane in the season for which registration is open.
- You have a valid Parivar Pehchan Patra (Family ID), which is what opens the application form on agriharyana.gov.in.
- The sugarcane area is registered on Meri Fasal Mera Byora, the state's crop registration portal, for the relevant season.
- You plant using a promoted method: wide-row spacing or the single-bud-chip method, on the area you are claiming for.
- Your bank account is Aadhaar-seeded, since payment is only by DBT.
The department states that all sugarcane farmers who grow sugarcane are eligible and can apply online on the departmental portal. No caste or income condition is published for this incentive.
Who cannot apply / who is not eligible:
- Farmers not growing sugarcane in the season, however much cane they grew previously.
- Farmers whose cane area is not registered on Meri Fasal Mera Byora.
- Farmers who planted by conventional spacing and whole-sett sowing and did not use a promoted method. The incentive is tied to the practice, not simply to growing cane.
- Applicants without a Parivar Pehchan Patra, who cannot open the form.
- Anyone applying after the notified registration window closes. There is no late window.
- Areas that fail physical verification, for example, where the row spacing measured on the ground does not match what was claimed.
What documents are required?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Parivar Pehchan Patra (Family ID) | Yes | Opens the online form and fetches details |

| Aadhaar card | Yes | Identity and DBT seeding |
| Land records (jamabandi/fard) | Yes | Establishes right over the claimed area |
| Bank passbook | Yes | Aadhaar-seeded account for the DBT credit |
| Seed/sett purchase receipt | No | Helpful evidence, especially for variety Co-15023 |
How to apply for the Technology Mission on Sugarcane
- Confirm the registration window is open. The department has announced a window of 15 October 2026 to 31 December 2026 for the revised Rs 5,000 incentive; an earlier window on the departmental sugarcane page ran from 24 December 2025 to 20 January 2026.
- Make sure your sugarcane area is registered on Meri Fasal Mera Byora for the season. Do this first, the scheme form draws on that record.
- Open the departmental portal at agriharyana.gov.in, go to Farmers Corner โ Apply for Agriculture Schemes, and select the sugarcane / NFSM-Sugarcane scheme.
- Enter your Parivar Pehchan Patra number, authenticate with the OTP sent to your registered mobile, and let your details load.
- Declare the area in acres, the planting method used โ wide-row spacing or single-bud chip, and the variety planted.
- Upload the required documents and submit, then save the acknowledgement with the application number.
- Allow the field verification team to inspect the plot. Keep the field accessible and be reachable on the mobile number you registered.
- Track the DBT credit. For the 2026-27 window the department has indicated disbursal by the end of February 2027 after verification.
If you need help filling the form, the Agriculture Development Officer (ADO) at your block office and the Deputy Director of Agriculture (DDA) at the district office will assist. There is no separate paper application route.
How to check your application and payment status
- Open agriharyana.gov.in โ Farmers Corner and use the scheme application status link.
- Enter your application number or Family ID and view the current stage; submitted, pending verification, verified, or payment released.
- If the status shows verified but no money has arrived, check that your bank account is Aadhaar-seeded and that the account in your Family ID record is the one still in use.
- Escalate a stalled file to the Deputy Director of Agriculture in your district, or call 1800-180-2117.
Why sugarcane incentive claims get rejected
- Cane area not registered on Meri Fasal Mera Byora, the single most common documentary failure across all Haryana agriculture schemes.
- Row spacing measured in the field does not match the claim, so the wide-row condition fails.
- Area over-declared. The acreage claimed exceeds the area in the land record or the MFMB entry.
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, so the DBT credit bounces.
- Application filed after the window closed.
- Duplicate claim on the same khasra number by two family members.
Where the rejection is documentary. A spelling mismatch, a wrong account number, an MFMB entry that did not sync; correct the underlying record first and then take the acknowledgement to the district agriculture office. Where the rejection followed a field inspection, ask for the verification report, since the measured spacing is the operative fact.
