What is Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana?

Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana is a Haryana state scheme run by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department that reduces the effective cost of a domestic LPG refill to Rs 500 for poorer households. The scheme is listed under that department on the Haryana State Direct Benefit Transfer portal, which records it as one of three DBT-onboarded schemes of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, alongside the distribution of mustard oil under the Antyodaya Aahaar Yojana and the distribution of subsidised sugar.

The scheme is often written and searched in Hindi as Har Ghar-Har Grihini Yojana, and both spellings refer to the same programme.

Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana does not hand out cylinders and does not change the price you pay at the gas agency. Instead the Haryana government pays the difference back. A registered family buys its refill at the normal market rate from its usual LPG distributor, and the state then credits the gap between that rate and Rs 500 into the family's bank account. The calculation on the Haryana ePDS portal runs in three parts, all of which are visible to the beneficiary: the refill cylinder rate, the central subsidy rate already credited by the Government of India, and the balance state subsidy to be sent.

What makes this scheme different from a normal LPG subsidy

  • Delivery is by Direct Benefit Transfer, not a discount at the counter.
  • Eligibility is read automatically from the Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP) Family ID and the state PDS database, so there is no separate income certificate to obtain.
  • The subsidy is tracked month by month against the actual cylinder delivery dates reported by the oil marketing company.
  • Registration is a one-time step. Once the family is registered and its bank account is verified, later refills are picked up automatically.

Who is eligible for Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana?

A family can register if all of these are true:

  • The family is a resident of Haryana and holds a Parivar Pehchan Patra Family ID.
  • The family holds a valid BPL or Antyodaya Anna Yojana ration card in the Haryana Public Distribution System. The ePDS registration screen carries a "subsidy owner BPL status" check that reads this directly from the database.
  • The family has a domestic LPG connection with any of the oil marketing companies, and the connection is held by a member of the same PPP family.
  • The family has a bank account that can be verified for DBT.

A family is not eligible and cannot apply if:

  • The family's PPP record does not show BPL or Antyodaya status. Income in Haryana is verified through the PPP database, so a family whose verified annual income is above the state's Antyodaya threshold will not pass the eligibility check even if it applies.
  • The LPG connection is a commercial connection rather than a domestic one.
  • The connection is not in the name of a member of the registering family. The portal matches the LPG consumer record against the PPP member ID, and a mismatch blocks registration.
  • The family is not resident in Haryana, or has no Haryana ration card.
  • More than one member of the same family tries to register the same connection. One family, one connection, one subsidy stream.

How to apply for Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana online

  1. Open the Haryana ePDS portal at epds.haryanafood.gov.in and find the Har Ghar - Har Grihni Registration link on the home page.
  2. Enter your PPP Family ID and complete the captcha, then choose Get Family Members. The portal lists every member recorded against that Family ID.
  3. Select the member in whose name the LPG connection is held, and send the OTP to the PPP-registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to verify identity.
  4. Enter the LPG details: oil company, distributor or agency name, and the LPG consumer number or 17-digit LPG ID. Enter the consumer number twice where the form asks for confirmation, because a mismatch is rejected on the spot.
  5. Enter the bank account number, confirm it in the second field, and pick the IFSC code from the list the portal offers.
  6. Review the summary screen and submit. Save or print the acknowledgement.
  7. Return to the portal after a few days and check the subsidy status screen to confirm that the bank account verification status and BPL status both show as verified.

How to apply for Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana offline

  1. Visit your nearest Antyodaya SARAL Kendra, which every district in Haryana has, or a Common Service Centre, carrying your PPP Family ID, Aadhaar, LPG connection book and bank passbook.
  2. Ask the operator to complete the Har Ghar-Har Grihni registration on the ePDS portal on your behalf. The OTP will still come to the PPP-registered mobile number, so carry that phone.
  3. Collect the printed acknowledgement before leaving the counter.
  4. If your PPP details are wrong, get them corrected first at the SARAL Kendra or through the PPP operator, because the LPG registration cannot succeed on a bad PPP record.

Your LPG distributor can also confirm your consumer number and the exact spelling of the connection holder's name if you are unsure what to enter.

How much money does Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana pay?

Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana pays whatever amount is needed to bring the family's net cost per domestic refill down to Rs 500. Because the market price of a 14.2 kg domestic cylinder changes month to month, the amount credited is not fixed. The ePDS subsidy screen shows the arithmetic for each month:

  • Refill cylinder rate. The price the family actually paid.
  • Central subsidy rate; anything already credited by the Government of India for that refill.
  • Subsidy to be sent, the Haryana state share, credited by DBT.

Credits are processed month-wise, and the portal displays the month, the account holder name, the amount and the date on which the amount was shared with the bank. Cylinder delivery dates come from the oil marketing company's own records, so a refill that was never booked produces no subsidy for that month.

How to check your Har Ghar-Har Grihni subsidy status

  1. Open epds.haryanafood.gov.in and choose the Har Ghar - Har Grihni subsidy status option.
  2. Enter your PPP Family ID and the captcha.
  3. The screen lists, for each month, the subsidy amount, the account holder name, the date the amount was shared with the bank, the bank account verification status, the BPL status, and the cylinder delivery dates on record.
  4. Where nothing has been paid, the portal prints a reason for no subsidy. Read that line before raising a complaint; it usually names the exact defect.

Why Har Ghar-Har Grihni registrations get rejected

  • Bank account verification failed, a wrong account number, a closed account, or a name that does not match the PPP record.
  • LPG consumer number mismatch — the number entered does not match the oil company's record for that distributor. Check the connection book and re-enter.
  • BPL status not found. The PPP record does not currently show the family as BPL or Antyodaya. This has to be corrected in the PPP and PDS records first, not in the LPG form.
  • Connection not in the family's name, the LPG connection belongs to someone outside the PPP family, for example a previous tenant or a relative.
  • OTP not received. The mobile number in the PPP record is out of date. Update the PPP mobile number at a SARAL Kendra, then register again.
  • Duplicate registration. The same connection has already been registered by another member of the family.

Key dates and how the money flows

Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana has no application window and no last date. Registration is open through the year on the ePDS portal, and a family that registers mid-year begins receiving the state subsidy from the month its registration and bank verification are complete. Subsidy is not paid retrospectively for refills bought before registration, so registering early matters more than registering at any particular time of year.

Frequently asked questions

What is the price of an LPG cylinder under Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana?

Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana brings the effective cost of a domestic LPG refill down to Rs 500 for an eligible family. The family pays the full market price at the gas agency first, and the Haryana government then credits the difference between that price and Rs 500 to the family's bank account, after adjusting the central government subsidy.

Who can register for Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana?

Families in Haryana holding a BPL or Antyodaya ration card, with a Parivar Pehchan Patra Family ID and a domestic LPG connection in the family's name, can register. The portal checks BPL status directly against the PPP and PDS databases at the time of registration.

Do I get the Rs 500 cylinder at the gas agency itself?

No. The gas agency charges the normal market price for the refill. Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana works as a reimbursement, so the balance amount is transferred later to the registered bank account by Direct Benefit Transfer, month by month.

Is there any fee to register for Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana?

No. Registration on the Haryana ePDS portal is free. Antyodaya SARAL Kendras and Common Service Centres may charge a small notified assistance fee for helping you fill the form, but no LPG distributor, dealer or agent may charge you for enrolment.

Why has my Har Ghar-Har Grihni subsidy not arrived?

The most common causes are a failed bank account verification, an LPG consumer number that does not match the oil company record, a PPP family record that no longer shows BPL status, or no refill having been booked in that month. The subsidy status screen on the ePDS portal names the exact reason.

How many cylinders are covered in a year?

Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana is designed around a family's normal domestic refill pattern, and the ePDS portal records subsidy month by month against the cylinder delivery dates reported by the oil company. Confirm the current annual limit with your LPG distributor or on the portal before booking, as this limit is set administratively and can be revised.

Can a family with an Ujjwala connection also take this benefit?

Yes, in principle. Har Ghar-Har Grihni Yojana is a state top-up that works on top of whatever central subsidy already applies, and the portal shows a separate "central subsidy rate" field before calculating the state amount. The connection must still be a domestic one held by the same family.

Where do I complain if my registration is rejected?

Raise a grievance through the grievance module on the Haryana ePDS portal or with the District Food and Supplies Controller for your district. The state PDS helpline numbers are 1967 and 1800-180-2087.
