What is Indira Gandhi Sukh Suraksha Yojana?
Indira Gandhi Sukh Suraksha Yojana is a girl-child scheme of the Government of Himachal Pradesh, run by the Directorate of Women and Child Development under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department. According to the directorate, the State Government notified the scheme under notification No. SJE-A-F002/1/2025 dated 30 March 2026, and it came into effect on 1 April 2026.
The directorate describes the benefit in two parts. At the birth of a girl child in a BPL family, Rs 25,000 is deposited with the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). In addition, each of the girl's parents gets life insurance cover of Rs 2,00,000, valid until the girl reaches maturity at 18 years or the parent reaches 55 years.
The directorate's girl-child schemes page also says that Beti Hai Anmol Yojana has been revamped into Indira Gandhi Sukh Suraksha Yojana. Families with a girl born on or after 1 April 2026 should apply under the new scheme.
Who is eligible for Indira Gandhi Sukh Suraksha Yojana?
