Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana: Why Payments Get Rejected and How to Fix It

This is a supporting guide for Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana (NPY). See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.

Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana: Why Payments Get Rejected and How to Fix It

Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana payments almost never fail because you were "rejected"; there is no application to reject. The Rs 1,000-a-month benefit under Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana (NPY) is automatic once your TB case is notified, so a missing credit is a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) failure, not a decision against you. Almost every case traces to one of a handful of fixable causes, and each has a clear route to repair.

The one-line reminder

NPY pays a notified TB patient Rs 1,000 per month for the length of anti-TB treatment, straight into an Aadhaar-seeded bank account. That is all you are entitled to, everything below is about why the money stalls, not about eligibility.

Reason 1 to Your case was never notified

This is the single most common reason no payment ever begins. If you have no Ni-kshay ID, your case is not on the portal and the entitlement does not exist yet.

  • Fix: ask the government facility or your private doctor to notify your TB case on the Ni-kshay portal. Notification is legally mandatory for private practitioners in India. Once notified, a Ni-kshay ID is generated and the benefit clock starts.

Reason 2 to Bank account not seeded with Aadhaar

DBT runs on the Aadhaar-seeded account, not one merely linked to a mobile number. An account without seeding is the most frequent cause of a failed transfer.

  • Fix: visit your bank branch and ask them to seed your account with your Aadhaar and push it to the NPCI mapper. Confirm it is done before your first treatment month ends.

Reason 3 to Name or detail mismatch

A mismatch between your Ni-kshay record, your Aadhaar and your bank account, a different spelling, an initial expanded, a maiden name — stalls the transfer.

  • Fix: get the three records to agree. Correct the bank or Aadhaar record, then ask your Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS) or the District TB Officer (DTO) to update the Ni-kshay entry.

Reason 4 to Bank details never entered on Ni-kshay

Notification and payment are separate steps. Field staff may have notified your case but never entered your account number and IFSC.

  • Fix: hand your Aadhaar number, account number and IFSC to your treatment supporter, STS or the DTO and confirm the record now shows validated bank details.

Reason 5 to Follow-up examination not recorded

Instalments after the first are released against a recorded follow-up examination. Miss your follow-up sputum test and the next transfer will not generate. This is a rule, not a glitch.

  • Fix: attend your scheduled follow-up. Once the result is entered on Ni-kshay, the pending instalment can be released.

Reason 6 to Dormant, closed or wrong-IFSC account

A dormant account rejects DBT credits, and a closed account or an incorrect IFSC bounces the payment.

  • Fix: reactivate the account at the branch or supply fresh, correct details, then ask the DTO to re-trigger the failed transfer.

Reason 7 to Treatment outcome marked completed

If your regimen ended and the outcome is recorded as completed or cured, the entitlement ends with it. A stopped payment at the end of treatment is normal, not an error.

  • Fix: none needed if treatment genuinely ended. If it was closed in error, ask the DTO to correct the outcome.

How to escalate

  1. Call the Ni-kshay Sampark TB helpline on 1800-11-6666 (toll-free, multilingual) with your Ni-kshay ID.
  2. Escalate to your District TB Officer, who can view the beneficiary record, re-enter bank details and re-trigger a failed transfer.
  3. Use the TB Aarogya Saathi app for entitlement information and centre locations.

A short FAQ

Can NPY reject me for income or caste? No. The scheme has no income limit, caste criterion or domicile condition; every notified active-TB patient qualifies.

Do I lose past instalments if I fix the problem late? Correcting bank details or a follow-up record generally lets the pending instalment be released; confirm the specifics with your DTO on 1800-11-6666.

Can anyone charge me a fee to fix this? No. NPY money is paid directly to you, and no official, treatment supporter or agent is entitled to a cut or a fee.
