Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana: How to Check Application and Payment Status

Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana: How to Check Application and Payment Status

There is no "application" to track under Ni-kshay Poshan Yojana (NPY). The Rs 1,000-a-month nutrition benefit is automatic once your TB case is notified on the Ni-kshay portal. What you actually check is two things: whether your case is notified with a Ni-kshay ID, and whether each monthly Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) has reached your bank account. This article walks through both, portal by portal, and explains what a missing credit means.

What "status" means for NPY

Because there is no separate form, your NPY status is really your Ni-kshay record status. The key fields are: whether a Ni-kshay ID exists, whether your Aadhaar and Aadhaar-seeded bank account are entered and validated, and whether each instalment has been generated and paid. Only your treatment supporter, Senior Treatment Supervisor (STS) or the District TB Office can open the Ni-kshay beneficiary record: patients do not get a public self-login to it, so the status check is done with them, not around them.

Step 1 to Confirm your case is notified

  1. Keep your Ni-kshay ID ready. It is generated the moment your TB case is notified; if you never received one, your case may not be notified. The single most common reason no payment ever starts.
  2. Ask your treatment supporter, health worker or STS to confirm your notification date on the Ni-kshay portal (tbcindia.mohfw.gov.in). Cases notified on or after 1 April 2018 are eligible.
  3. If you are a private-sector patient, ask the private doctor, lab or chemist who treated you for the Ni-kshay ID; notification is legally mandatory for them.

Step 2 to Check your bank and Aadhaar-seeding status

DBT fails silently if the account is not seeded. Verify before blaming the scheme:

  1. Visit your bank branch and confirm the account is Aadhaar-seeded, not merely linked to a mobile number. An account linked only to mobile will not receive DBT.
  2. Confirm the account is active, not dormant. A dormant account rejects DBT credits.
  3. Confirm your name on the bank account matches your Aadhaar and your Ni-kshay record. A mismatch stalls the transfer.

Step 3 to Check whether each instalment was paid

  1. Track the credit in your bank passbook or SMS alerts against your registered mobile number, month by month.
  2. Ask your STS or treatment supporter to open the Ni-kshay record and read out the DBT status field for each instalment — whether it shows generated, transferred, or failed.
  3. Remember the rule that catches most people: instalments after the first are released against a recorded follow-up examination. If you missed a follow-up sputum test, the next transfer will not generate. This is not a portal error, attend your follow-up and the payment resumes.

Step 4 to Escalate an unresolved case

If the record looks correct but money has not arrived:

  1. Call the Ni-kshay Sampark TB helpline on 1800-11-6666 (toll-free, multilingual) with your Ni-kshay ID.
  2. Escalate to the District TB Officer (DTO), who can view and correct the beneficiary record, re-enter bank details and re-trigger a failed transfer.
  3. Use the TB Aarogya Saathi app for entitlement information and centre locations.

What each situation means and what to do

  • No Ni-kshay ID at all; your case is not notified. Ask your doctor to notify it; this creates the entitlement.
  • Ni-kshay ID exists but no bank details on record, field staff never entered them. Hand your Aadhaar, account number and IFSC to your treatment supporter or the DTO.
  • First instalment paid, later ones stopped: usually a follow-up examination not recorded, or the treatment outcome marked completed. If treatment ended, the payment ending is normal.
  • Everything correct but transfer failed: Aadhaar-seeding, name mismatch or a dormant account. Fix at the bank branch, then ask the DTO to re-trigger.

A short FAQ

Can I check my NPY status online myself? Not through a public patient login. Your notified record lives on the Ni-kshay portal, accessed by health staff and the District TB Office; check with them or on 1800-11-6666.

How long after notification should the first payment arrive? There is no fixed public timeline, confirm your bank details are validated on Ni-kshay before the first treatment month ends so the first instalment can generate.

Nobody can charge me to check status, right? Correct. NPY money is paid directly into your account, and no official, treatment supporter or agent is entitled to a cut or a fee for getting your name onto Ni-kshay.
