Why a PMAY-G application gets rejected

Under Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana - Gramin (PMAY-G), a household can be dropped at two stages, kept out of the Awaas+ wait list during survey and gram sabha verification, or listed but then blocked on instalment release. One-line reminder: PMAY-G selects from the Awaas+ permanent wait list (no walk-in form), gives Rs 1.20 lakh in plain areas and Rs 1.30 lakh in hilly/NE areas, paid by DBT to an Aadhaar-seeded account.

Selection-stage rejections (kept out of the list)

1. An automatic exclusion criterion applies. A household is excluded if any member earns more than Rs 15,000 a month, pays income tax or professional tax, is a government employee, owns a motorised three/four-wheeler or mechanised farm equipment, holds a Kisan Credit Card with a limit of Rs 50,000 or more, or runs a registered non-agricultural enterprise. Owning a pucca house, or having taken housing assistance before, also excludes. Fix: if the exclusion was recorded in error, object at the gram sabha and appeal: see below. If it is correct, the household is not eligible.

2. Wrongly excluded for a dropped condition. The exclusion list was cut from 13 to 10 for the Awaas+ 2024 survey: owning a two-wheeler, a refrigerator or a landline telephone no longer disqualifies, and the income ceiling rose from Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000. Fix: if you were kept out on one of these old grounds, raise it at the gram sabha and with the block appellate committee.

3. Not covered in the Awaas+ survey. Selection comes only from surveyed households; if no self-survey or assisted survey was done for you, you are not on the list. Fix: complete the AwaasPlus self-survey (Aadhaar face authentication) or ask the panchayat enumerator / Awaas Mitra for an assisted survey.

4. Left out at gram sabha verification. The draft wait list is read out and validated by the gram sabha. Fix: object in writing at the gram sabha; if rejected, appeal to the block level appellate committee, then the district level committee.

Instalment-stage blocks (listed but no money)

Even after sanction, instalments stall for correctable reasons:

• Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, so DBT cannot reach it. Fix: seed the account at your branch.
• Geo-tagged photograph missing for the previous construction stage, which blocks the next release. Fix: have the block/panchayat official capture and verify the stage photo.
• Name or account mismatch between Aadhaar, the MGNREGS job card and bank records. Fix: align the three records.
• Physical verification pending by the block or panchayat official. Fix: follow up at the Block Development Office.
• State share not released, holding up the combined instalment. Fix: this is administrative; the BDO can confirm the status.

How to correct or appeal a PMAY-G rejection

1. Gram sabha, object in writing when the draft wait list is displayed.
2. Block level appellate committee, then district level committee, for exclusion from the Awaas+ list.
3. Block Development Office — first stop for wait-list, sanction and instalment problems.

PMAY-G registration and the Awaas+ survey are free. No official or agent is entitled to a fee for adding your name to the list; the scheme relies on social audit and geo-tagged evidence precisely to keep middlemen out.

FAQ

I own a two-wheeler, was I rejected for that? You should not be. Two-wheeler, refrigerator and landline ownership were dropped as exclusions in the 2024 revision; raise it at the gram sabha.

My name is in the list but no payment: is that a rejection? No. That is usually an instalment block. An unseeded account or a pending geo-tag photo. Use FTO Tracking and fix the cause.

Can I re-apply after exclusion? There is no walk-in re-application; get corrected in the next Awaas+ survey and gram sabha, or win the appeal.
