Grant for the Marriage of Daughter of Destitute Widow
Uttarakhand state government scheme
Grant for the Marriage of Daughter of Destitute Widow is a Uttarakhand Social Welfare Department scheme that pays Rs 50,000 per daughter, for up to two daughters, to destitute widows drawing widow pension whose monthly family income is at most Rs 4,000 or who hold a BPL card. Applications are filed free on ssp.uk.gov.in.
What is the Grant for the Marriage of Daughter of Destitute Widow?
Grant for the Marriage of Daughter of Destitute Widow is a cash assistance scheme of the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme pays Rs 50,000 per daughter, for the marriage of up to two daughters, to a destitute widow who is already drawing widow pension from the state government.
The scheme sits alongside the department's other marriage grant, which covers daughters of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe families, and both are administered through the same Social Security portal, ssp.uk.gov.in. In Hindi the scheme is known as the vidhwaon ki putriyon ki shaadi hetu anudan yojana.
The purpose is narrow and practical. A widow drawing a Rs 1,500 monthly pension has no realistic way to meet the one-time cost of a daughter's wedding, and the grant is designed to close that gap without pushing the household into debt. The department's portal shows marriage grant applications being registered and approved every year, the 2026-27 dashboard records 693 registered applications and 538 approved applications under the marriage grant head.
Main features
- One-time cash grant of Rs 50,000 for each eligible daughter.
- Limit of two daughters per family across the life of the scheme.
- Paid by direct transfer into an Aadhaar-seeded CBS bank account.
- Applied for free online, with the option of assisted filing at a Common Service Centre.
- Tied to a fixed application window that runs with the marriage year.

- Enter the applicant's name exactly as printed on the Aadhaar card and the bank passbook. Type the Hindi fields in English β the portal transliterates them automatically.
- Fill the district, tehsil, block, panchayat, village or ward with care. The portal warns that these fields, along with the scheme, cannot be changed later by the applicant.
- Give the mobile number and the CBS bank account number that are linked to Aadhaar, then save the form. A login ID and password arrive by SMS.
- Log back in through Applicant Login and open Upload Documents. Upload the income or BPL certificate, marriage registration certificate, affidavit, date of birth proofs, residence certificate, ration card, family register, Aadhaar and photograph, each as a PDF under 1 MB.
- Download each uploaded file from the portal and confirm it opens, then use Print Application to keep a copy.
The same application can be submitted through the Apuni Sarkar portal at eservices.uk.gov.in, the UMANG mobile app, or by a Common Service Centre operator on the applicant's behalf.
When must the application be filed?
The department sets a clear window: the application must be filed between 1 March and 28 February of the same year in which the marriage takes place. This is the single most common reason a genuine claim fails.
There is one accommodation. If the marriage falls in January or February and the documents are not ready in time, the widow may apply before the marriage. In that case the benefit is released only once the marriage registration certificate is uploaded on the portal.
How is the marriage grant approved and paid?
After online submission, the Assistant Social Welfare Officer examines the application and conducts the field check. On the basis of that investigation report and recommendation, the District Social Welfare Officer approves the application as per the rules, and the grant amount is paid into the beneficiary's bank account.
The department separately confirms from its own pension database whether the applicant is drawing widow pension, so the widow does not need to obtain a separate certificate for that condition.
How to check the status of a marriage grant application
