Super-100 Programme - Uttarakhand
Uttarakhand state government scheme
Super-100 Programme is an Uttarakhand government scheme that gives free engineering and medical entrance coaching to 100 Class 12 Science students every year, chosen from the Class 10 block toppers of each development block plus the top SC, ST and OBC scorers. Selection is offline through the development block; there is no self-application portal.
What is the Super-100 Programme of Uttarakhand?
Super-100 Programme is a merit-support scheme of the Government of Uttarakhand, run by the Secondary Education wing of the Department of School Education under the state's Samagra Shiksha programme. The scheme addresses a specific gap: a bright student from a government school in a hill block usually cannot afford, and often cannot physically reach, the private coaching that engineering and medical entrance exams effectively demand.
According to the scheme description, Super-100 Programme identifies and supports the brightest Class 12 Science stream students by giving them high-quality coaching for engineering and medical entrance examinations, delivered by faculty selected from experienced coaching institutes after an interview process. 100 Science students are prepared each year, which is where the programme's name comes from.
The programme is deliberately structured for geographic and social spread rather than pure statewide ranking. Selection reaches down to the development block level, so that a student who topped Class 10 in a remote block is picked even if their marks would not place them in the state's top 100 overall, and separate places go to the highest scorers among Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes students.
Key features
- 100 Class 12 Science students supported every year.
- Free coaching for engineering and medical entrance examinations.
- Faculty drawn from experienced coaching institutes, selected by interview.
- Selection based on Class 10 block-wise merit, not on a separate exam.
- Block-wise plus SC, ST and OBC selection, so every development block is represented.
- Offline route through the development block: no self-registration portal.
Who is eligible for the Super-100 Programme?
You can be selected if:
- You are a Class 12 student of the Science stream in Uttarakhand.
- You are a student of the state's school system, since selection is routed through development blocks and government school records.
- You held the first position in Class 10 within your development block, which is the primary selection ground; or
- You are among the highest scorers in the SC, ST or OBC category, which is the separate category-based route into the 100 places.
You are not eligible / cannot apply if:
- You are in a stream other than Science — Commerce and Arts students are outside the programme, because the coaching is specifically for engineering and medical entrance examinations.
- You are not in Class 12. Class 11 and lower students are not selected; the programme runs for the entrance-exam year.
- Your Class 10 record does not place you at the top of your development block and you do not come through a category place. Because only 100 seats exist statewide, a good but not block-topping result does not qualify.
- You are seeking a cash scholarship. Super-100 gives coaching, not money, so an applicant looking for a stipend cannot apply for one under this scheme.
There is no published income ceiling for selection. The filter is academic merit at Class 10, applied block by block, with category places layered on top.
How does the selection work?
Super-100 Programme uses an unusual selection design that is worth understanding in detail, because it decides who is called and who is not.
The base unit is the development block. From each block, the Class 12 Science student who had secured first position in Class 10 in that block is chosen. This makes the programme geographically inclusive: a topper in a sparsely populated mountain block competes against the other students of that block, not against students in Dehradun or Haridwar.
Layered on that, the highest scorers among SC, ST and OBC students are included, so that social groups that would otherwise be under-represented get places. Together these routes fill the 100 seats.
Because the ranking is built from existing Class 10 board records held at block and district level, no separate entrance test is conducted for the programme and students do not sit an additional selection exam.
What documents are required?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Class 10 marksheet | Yes | The block-wise ranking that drives selection is based on it |
| Educational qualification certificate | Yes | Proof of current enrolment in Class 12 Science |
| Caste certificate | If claiming a category place | Needed for SC, ST or OBC consideration |
| Aadhaar card | If asked | Identity verification when joining the coaching batch |
How to apply for the Super-100 Programme
Super-100 Programme runs on an offline, block-routed process. A student does not fill an online form on a public portal.
- Watch for the notification. The Secondary Education directorate and the district education offices announce the Super-100 selection for the session. There is no permanent open window, so the notification is the trigger.
- Approach your school principal and your development block education office. The block office holds the Class 10 block-wise merit position that the selection is built on, and the application is routed through the block.
- Submit your documents. The Class 10 marksheet, proof of current Class 12 Science enrolment, and a caste certificate if you are being considered under an SC, ST or OBC place.
- Let the block forward the list. The block-level list of block toppers and category toppers goes up for compilation into the statewide list of 100.
- Check the selection list issued by the department, and if selected, report to the coaching centre or batch on the date and place mentioned in the selection communication.
Because the whole route runs through the school and the block, the practical thing a student can do is make sure the block office has the correct Class 10 result and category record against your name before the list is finalised.
How do I check my selection status?
There is no individual online status tracker published for Super-100. Status is checked through the development block education office and the school principal, who receive and circulate the selection lists, and through the notices issued by the Directorate of Secondary Education and the district education offices. Students should keep a copy of whatever acknowledgement the block office gives when documents are submitted.
Why do students miss out, and what can be corrected?
- Not the block topper. With one place per block on the general route, a student who came second in Class 10 in the block usually does not make it. This is a design limit, not a fixable error.
- Category certificate not submitted, so a student who would have qualified on an SC, ST or OBC place is not considered. Submitting a valid certificate from the competent authority before the list is finalised is the fix.
- Wrong stream on record. Only Science stream Class 12 students are eligible; a record showing another stream removes the student from the pool.
- Documents not forwarded in time by the school or block. Following up early with the principal and block office is the only practical safeguard.
- Class 10 marks recorded incorrectly at block level. Take the original marksheet to the block education office to have the record corrected.
Where do I get help?
For Super-100, the working chain of contact is the school principal, then the Block Education Officer, then the Chief Education Officer of the district, and finally the Directorate of Secondary Education under the Department of School Education, Government of Uttarakhand (schooleducation.uk.gov.in), with the Samagra Shiksha state office at ssa.uk.gov.in handling the programme's funding and plan documents. No scheme-specific toll-free helpline is published for Super-100. The coaching is free, and no student or parent should pay any person to secure a place.
