PM Vishwakarma: Why Applications Get Rejected and How to Fix It
This is a supporting guide for PM Vishwakarma. See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.
Why does a PM Vishwakarma application get rejected?
PM Vishwakarma applications rarely fail on the online form itself. They fail during the three-stage verification chain that follows it. Most rejections happen at the first stage, the Gram Panchayat or Urban Local Body, where the local body cannot confirm you actually practise the declared trade. This article takes each rejection ground in turn and gives the fix. For who qualifies and the full benefit package, see the parent guide on PM Vishwakarma; the one-line reminder is that it supports one member per family in 18 recognised trades with a certificate, training stipend, a Rs 15,000 toolkit grant and up to Rs 3 lakh in concessional credit.
Trade not on the notified list
PM Vishwakarma covers exactly 18 trades. If your occupation is not one of them, for example, weaver, embroiderer or beautician. The application is rejected at verification because the trade cannot be mapped.
- Fix: There is no workaround; you must genuinely practise one of the 18 notified trades. Check the exact list on pmvishwakarma.gov.in before reapplying, and do not let a CSC operator pick the "closest" trade for you, as a false declaration is caught at Gram Panchayat verification.
Another family member already registered
Only one member per family may register, where the family is husband, wife and unmarried children. If a spouse or parent is already enrolled, your application is rejected as a duplicate family unit.
- Fix: Decide as a household which single member will hold the registration. There is no route to two beneficiaries in one family.
Government employment in the family
Applicants in Central or State government service, and their family members, are excluded.
- Fix: This is a hard bar with no correction. If the flagged employment record is wrong, raise it with the District Implementation Committee with proof.
Outstanding similar government loan
Anyone who took a credit-linked loan under PMEGP, PM SVANidhi or Mudra in the last five years that is still outstanding is ineligible.
- Fix: If you have fully repaid such a loan, obtain a closure or no-dues certificate from the lending bank and reapply, since fully repaid borrowers may be considered.
Failure at Gram Panchayat or ULB verification
This is the single largest cause. The Gram Panchayat head or ULB executive head could not confirm that you live in the area and genuinely work in the declared trade.
- Fix: Approach your Gram Panchayat or ULB office in person, establish residence and trade, and request re-verification. Keep any trade-related evidence; tools, worksite, customer references — available for the local officer.
Aadhaar biometric authentication failure
Registration is biometric. Artisans whose fingerprints are worn from manual work often fail fingerprint capture at the CSC.
- Fix: Ask the CSC operator to switch to iris or face authentication, both of which are supported. Ensure your mobile number is Aadhaar-linked so OTP verification can complete.
Name, bank or mobile mismatch
If the name across Aadhaar and bank records does not match, or the bank account is not active, stipend and loan disbursement fail even after approval.
- Fix: Correct the mismatch at your bank or in Aadhaar first, then reapply, so the certificate and DBT flow line up.
How to find your exact rejection reason and reapply
- Log in on pmvishwakarma.gov.in using your registered mobile number and OTP.
- Open the application status screen and read which verification stage; Gram Panchayat/ULB, district or state; recorded the rejection.
- If the dashboard does not state a clear reason, ask the CSC operator or your District Industries Centre to read it from the officer's remarks.
- Fix the specific cause, then submit a fresh registration; a rejected application can be reapplied once the ground is resolved.
Where to get help
- Ministry of MSME Champions helpline: 18002677777
- District Industries Centre or the District Implementation Committee for verification and status disputes.
PM Vishwakarma registration is free. If a CSC operator, agent or middleman asks for money to enrol you, to "clear" a rejection or to speed up verification, it is fraud: report it to the MSME helpline. No official will ask for your Aadhaar OTP or bank password.
