PMAY-U Status Check: Track Your Assessment ID and Sanctioned House
This is a supporting guide for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U). See the main guide for full eligibility, benefits and documents.

PMAY-U Status Check: Track Your Assessment ID and Sanctioned House
To check an existing Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban application, open pmaymis.gov.in, the PMAY-U management information system, and use Track Your Assessment Status with either your assessment ID or your name plus Aadhaar-linked mobile number. That portal answers only one question: whether your assessment exists and where it stands. Anything about money already sanctioned, instalments not received or construction stalled is handled by your urban local body and your State Level Nodal Agency, not online. For eligibility, verticals and benefit amounts, read the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana - Urban (PMAY-U) guide.
Understand at the start that PMAY-U is closed to new applicants; houses were sanctioned only up to 31 March 2022. So a status check here is always about an old file, never about a fresh application. If you applied recently, you applied under PMAY-U 2.0 and should track it on pmay-urban.gov.in.
How to track your assessment status online
- Open pmaymis.gov.in in a browser.
- Choose Track Your Assessment Status from the citizen assessment menu.
- Pick one of the two search routes:
- By assessment ID, the number shown when your application was submitted. This is the reliable route.
- By name, father's name and mobile number, along with your state, district and city. Use this only when the assessment ID is lost.
- Enter the details exactly as they were recorded at application, then submit.
- Read the record returned: it shows the applicant's name, the urban local body, the vertical applied under and the current stage of the file.
If you search by name, every field has to match the original entry character for character, including spellings of your father's name and the city. A single mismatch returns nothing even where the record exists.
What to do when no record is found
A blank result is common and usually has a mundane cause. Work through these before assuming your application was destroyed:
- Wrong mobile number. The search matches the number recorded at application, not any number you use now.
- Name spelt differently from the way the data entry operator typed it, especially where the application was filed at a Common Service Centre or a ULB counter.
- You applied under PMAY-Gramin, not PMAY-U. Rural applications are not on pmaymis.gov.in at all.
- You applied under PMAY-U 2.0. New applications since 1 September 2024 live on the PMAY-U 2.0 portal at pmay-urban.gov.in.
- The application was never actually submitted, only started, so no assessment ID was ever generated.
If none of these fits, take a copy of whatever acknowledgement you hold to the urban local body where you applied and ask them to search their beneficiary list directly.
Checking whether your name is on the beneficiary list
The assessment status and the sanctioned beneficiary list are two different things. An assessment can exist without a sanction. The beneficiary list for a town is held by the urban local body or municipal corporation, which prepares and verifies it, and that office is where you confirm whether a house was actually sanctioned in your name, under which vertical, and in which project.
Ask specifically for: the sanction reference, the vertical (in-situ slum redevelopment, affordable housing in partnership, or beneficiary-led construction), and the number of instalments released so far.
Tracking instalments on a sanctioned house
Central assistance under PMAY-U was released by direct benefit transfer into the Aadhaar-linked bank account, in instalments tied to construction progress: Rs 1.5 lakh per house under beneficiary-led construction and affordable housing in partnership, and Rs 1 lakh per eligible slum dweller under in-situ slum redevelopment.
If an instalment has not arrived:
- Check the Aadhaar-linked account named in your application, not a newer account. DBT credits go only to the account seeded at that time.
- Confirm with the ULB that the construction milestone for that instalment has been inspected and recorded. Under beneficiary-led construction, the next tranche does not move until geo-tagged progress is verified.
- Verify that your Aadhaar and bank details match. A name mismatch between the two is a routine cause of failed DBT credits.
- If the milestone is recorded and the account is correct, escalate to the State Level Nodal Agency, which handles fund flow and instalment-level questions.
Checking a CLSS interest subsidy claim
The Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme is closed: the MIG-I and MIG-II window ended on 31 March 2021 and the EWS and LIG window on 31 March 2022. If you had a CLSS claim in the pipeline, the status sits with your lending bank or housing finance company, which forwarded the claim to the Central Nodal Agency, not with the PMAY portal. Ask your lender for the claim reference and whether the subsidy was credited to your loan account, since a CLSS subsidy is credited upfront to the loan and reduces the EMI rather than being paid to you.
Where to escalate
- PMAY-U helplines: 011-23063285, 011-23060484 and 011-23063620
- pmaymis.gov.in, for assessment tracking
- Urban local body or municipal corporation, for beneficiary list and verification questions
- State Level Nodal Agency, for instalments, fund release and project-level delays
- Your bank or housing finance company, for anything involving a CLSS claim
Checking status is free at every step. No agent can charge you to look up an assessment, and nobody can promise to move your name up a housing list for a fee.
