Yuvasree Prakalpa
West Bengal state government scheme
Yuvasree Prakalpa is a West Bengal Labour Department scheme that pays Rs 1,500 a month to unemployed job seekers already enrolled on the state Employment Bank portal. Applicants must be 18 to 45 years old, Class VIII pass and resident in West Bengal. Enrolment is online at employmentbankwb.gov.in followed by form submission at the employment exchange.
What is Yuvasree Prakalpa?
Yuvasree Prakalpa is an unemployment assistance scheme of the Labour Department, Government of West Bengal, launched in 2013. Yuvasree Prakalpa pays Rs 1,500 per month to unemployed young people who are already registered as job seekers on the state's Employment Bank portal. The scheme is often written locally as Yuvashree or Yuba Shree, and it is run alongside, not separately from, the Employment Bank system.
Yuvasree Prakalpa was designed around a specific idea: the state already maintains a live database of unemployed job seekers through the Employment Bank, so the assistance should flow to people on that database rather than open a new, unverified applicant pool. That single design choice explains most of what confuses applicants. There is no standalone "Yuvasree application portal". Your starting point is always the Employment Bank enrolment.
The stated purpose of the assistance is to help a job seeker meet the cost of looking for work and of upgrading skills: travel to interviews, examination fees, short training courses, and basic subsistence during the search, rather than to function as a permanent income.
Key features
- Monthly assistance of Rs 1,500, paid by direct bank transfer.
- Administered by the Labour Department through district employment exchanges.
- Eligibility is anchored on Employment Bank enrolment, and selection follows the seniority of that enrolment.
- One beneficiary per family, not per individual.
- Not payable alongside another state self-employment assistance such as Gatidhara.
Who is eligible for Yuvasree Prakalpa?
You can be considered if:
- You are a resident of West Bengal.
- You are between 18 and 45 years of age, counted as on the 1st day of April of the year in which your case is taken up.
- You have passed at least Class VIII.
- You are genuinely unemployed.
- You are enrolled on the West Bengal Employment Bank as a job seeker and hold a valid registration number.
You are not eligible if:
- You are employed in any government, private or self-employed capacity.
- Another member of your family already draws Yuvasree assistance — the scheme permits one beneficiary per family only.
- You are receiving financial assistance under another West Bengal self-employment scheme. Gatidhara, the Transport Department's vehicle subsidy, is the most common clash.
- You are below Class VIII in education, or outside the 18 to 45 age band.
- You are not a resident of West Bengal, even if you are enrolled on the portal.
A point worth stressing: enrolment on the Employment Bank does not automatically mean you receive Rs 1,500. Enrolment makes you eligible to be considered. Selection is made from the waiting list in enrolment seniority order, within the funds available in the relevant year.

How to apply for Yuvasree Prakalpa
- Enrol on the Employment Bank first. Open employmentbankwb.gov.in and complete the job seeker enrolment with your personal details, educational qualifications, district and contact number.
- Save your Employment Bank registration number. The portal issues it on successful enrolment. Write it down; every later step, including status checks, needs it.
- Keep the profile complete and current. Add your qualifications, skills and bank account. Incomplete profiles are the commonest reason a candidate sits on the list without being taken up.
- Download the Yuvasree forms, generally issued as Annexure-I and Annexure-II, from the portal or collect them at the district employment exchange.
- Fill in the forms and attach the documents listed above; age proof, educational certificates, residence proof, bank passbook copy and the self-declaration of unemployment.
- Submit the set at your district employment exchange or the sub-divisional office handling employment matters. Collect a dated acknowledgement.
- Track the waiting list on the portal. Selection is published on employmentbankwb.gov.in; the assistance is credited to the bank account in your Employment Bank profile once you are taken up.
How to apply offline for Yuvasree Prakalpa
Yuvasree Prakalpa cannot be completed fully offline, because the Employment Bank enrolment itself is an online step. Applicants without internet access should:
- Visit the district employment exchange and ask the staff to complete the Employment Bank enrolment on your behalf, carrying your educational certificates and identity documents.
- Collect the Yuvasree annexure forms at the same counter.
- Submit the completed forms with attested photocopies and take the dated acknowledgement receipt.
A Bangla Sahayata Kendra or a government-run common service point in your block can also help with the online enrolment. Neither should charge you for it.
How do you check Yuvasree status and payment?
Sign in at employmentbankwb.gov.in using your Employment Bank registration number. The portal carries the Yuvasree enrolment status and the published waiting list, which is the authoritative record of where you stand. Payment, once sanctioned, arrives by direct bank transfer into the account recorded in your profile, so an inactive, frozen or wrongly typed account number stops the credit even when the sanction is in order.
If the portal shows you as selected but no money arrives, the problem is almost always at the bank end: a closed account, a dormant account with no KYC, or a digit error in the account number. Correct the bank details in the Employment Bank profile and inform the employment exchange in writing.
Why Yuvasree applications get rejected
- No Employment Bank enrolment, or an enrolment number that does not match the submitted form.
- Age outside 18 to 45 on the reference date of 1 April.
- Education below Class VIII, or certificates not attached.
- Another family member already drawing the assistance.
- Applicant already receiving a state self-employment benefit such as Gatidhara.
- Bank account not in the applicant's own name, or account details mismatched.
- Residence outside West Bengal, or residence proof not produced.
Most rejections are documentary rather than substantive. Where a case is rejected for a missing or unclear document, the fix is to resubmit the corrected papers at the same employment exchange rather than start a fresh enrolment, which would reset your seniority on the waiting list.
Key dates and how long the assistance runs
Yuvasree Prakalpa has no annual last date. Employment Bank enrolment is open throughout the year, and Yuvasree selection is made from the seniority list as vacancies and funds permit. The one date that matters for you is 1 April, the reference date on which age is counted, so an applicant turning 46 before that date in a given year drops out of the band.
The assistance is intended for the period of genuine unemployment and stops when the beneficiary is employed. It is not a lifetime entitlement, and beneficiaries are expected to report a change in employment status.
Where do you raise a Yuvasree grievance?
- District employment exchange, the first and most effective stop for enrolment errors, missing acknowledgements and document objections.
- Sub-divisional employment office for escalation within the district.
- Labour Department, Government of West Bengal, for policy-level grievances about the scheme.
- The Employment Bank portal at employmentbankwb.gov.in carries a dedicated Yuvasree helpline contact and enrolment-status links; use the number published there rather than any number circulated on social media.
Yuvasree Prakalpa is free. No official will ask for an OTP, and no intermediary can guarantee your selection or move you up the waiting list for a fee. Any such demand should be reported to the district employment exchange in writing.

Frequently asked questions
How much money does Yuvasree Prakalpa pay?
Yuvasree Prakalpa pays Rs 1,500 per month to a selected unemployed job seeker, credited to the bank account given in the Employment Bank profile. The amount is fixed and is not scaled by education level, caste category or district.
Who can get Yuvasree Prakalpa in West Bengal?
An unemployed resident of West Bengal aged between 18 and 45 years, who has passed at least Class VIII and is already enrolled as a job seeker on the Employment Bank portal, can be considered. Age is counted as on 1 April of the year in which the case is taken up.
Is Employment Bank registration compulsory for Yuvasree?
Yes, Employment Bank enrolment is compulsory and comes first. Yuvasree is not an independent application — the Labour Department draws Yuvasree beneficiaries only from the pool of registered Employment Bank job seekers, using the enrolment seniority list.
Can two people in the same family get Yuvasree?
No. Only one member of a family is allowed the Yuvasree assistance. A second claim from the same household is rejected at verification stage, and any amount already drawn on a duplicate claim is recoverable.
Can I take Yuvasree and Gatidhara together?
No. Yuvasree assistance and the Gatidhara vehicle subsidy are treated as mutually exclusive benefits for the same person. A Yuvasree beneficiary who is later sanctioned a Gatidhara subsidy stops drawing the monthly Rs 1,500.
How do I check my Yuvasree waiting list position?
Sign in to employmentbankwb.gov.in with your Employment Bank registration number and open the Yuvasree waiting list or enrolment status link on the portal. The portal publishes the seniority-based waiting list, which is the only authoritative source for your position.
Do I have to pay anyone to get Yuvasree?
No. Enrolment on the Employment Bank portal and submission of the Yuvasree forms at the employment exchange are free. No agent, cyber cafe operator or local intermediary can charge a fee to place your name on the list.
What happens to the assistance if I get a job?
Yuvasree assistance stops once you are employed. The benefit is conditional on continued unemployment, and beneficiaries are expected to report a change in status. Concealing employment while drawing the allowance makes the amount recoverable.
