Applications are accepted only online at berojgaribhatta.cg.nic.in.
What is the Chhattisgarh Unemployment Allowance Scheme?
Chhattisgarh Unemployment Allowance Scheme, known across the state as Berojgari Bhatta, pays a monthly cash allowance to educated young people who are registered as unemployed with a district employment exchange. The scheme came into force on 1 April 2023 with a first-year budget provision of Rs 550 crore, and it is administered by the Directorate of Employment and Training under the Skill Development, Technical Education and Employment Department.
According to the state employment portal, the allowance is Rs 2,500 per month; Rs 30,000 over a full year: paid straight into the beneficiary's Aadhaar-seeded bank account. The purpose is narrow and practical: to cover the cost of continuing a job search, travelling to interviews and paying examination fees, during the gap between finishing education and finding work.

How to apply for the Chhattisgarh unemployment allowance
Chhattisgarh accepts only online applications. No physical form is received at the employment exchange or the collectorate.
- Renew your employment exchange registration first. Open erojgar.cg.gov.in, log in with your registration number, and confirm that your registration is live and at least two years old. A lapsed registration is the commonest reason an otherwise eligible applicant is rejected.
- Get your certificates ready. Apply at your tehsil office or through the e-District portal for a residence certificate and an income certificate if you do not hold current ones. Both take time, so start here.
- Open berojgaribhatta.cg.nic.in and select the new applicant registration option.
- Register with your mobile number and Aadhaar, and verify the OTP sent to your mobile.
- Fill the application form, personal details, class 12 details, employment exchange registration number, family income, and your bank account number and IFSC code. Enter the account number twice and check it character by character.
- Upload the scanned documents in the formats and size limits the portal specifies, then submit.
- Save the application number shown on the acknowledgement screen and download the acknowledgement PDF.
- Attend document verification. The district employment office calls shortlisted applicants to verify originals. Carry every original document and one photocopy set. Failing to appear on the assigned date ends the claim.
After verification the district office approves the case and the allowance begins from the month notified in the sanction.
How to check your application and payment status
- Log in at berojgaribhatta.cg.nic.in with your registered mobile number and application number.
- Open the application status option to see the current stage, submitted, under verification, verified, approved or rejected.
- Where the status shows a rejection, read the reason recorded and use the correction option if the portal allows resubmission for that reason.
- Check the bank passbook or your bank's SMS alerts for the monthly credit. Payment is by DBT, so nothing arrives in cash or by cheque.
Common rejection reasons and how to fix them
- Employment exchange registration less than two years old, or lapsed. Renew it on erojgar.cg.gov.in and reapply in a year when you cross two years.
- Age above 35 as on 1 April. There is no relaxation; this cannot be fixed.
- Family income certificate showing more than Rs 2,50,000. Only a corrected certificate from the tehsildar helps, and only if the original figure was wrong.
- Bank account not in the applicant's own name, or not Aadhaar-seeded. Get seeding done at your branch and update the account details on the portal.
- Name mismatch between the class 12 marksheet, Aadhaar card and bank account. Correct the Aadhaar record first, since it is the reference.
- Absence from document verification. Contact the district employment office immediately; some districts allow a second date within the same cycle.
- Another family member already drawing the allowance. Only one claim per family is permitted.
What happens after the allowance starts
The allowance is not open-ended. Chhattisgarh links it to placement and skill training: beneficiaries are referred to skill training and placement drives run through the district Livelihood Colleges and the Chhattisgarh State Skill Development Authority. Refusing a suitable job offered through the employment exchange ends the allowance, and taking up a job also ends it, the beneficiary is expected to report the employment.
Districts also re-verify beneficiaries periodically. A beneficiary whose family circumstances change — a family member takes a government job, or income crosses the Rs 2,50,000 line: is required to report the change. Allowance drawn after becoming ineligible is recoverable.
Help and grievance redressal
- District Employment and Self-Employment Guidance Centre (Jila Rojgar evam Swarojgar Margdarshan Kendra). The first stop for status, verification dates and rejection queries. Every district has one.
- berojgaribhatta.cg.nic.in; carries the grievance and contact section for the scheme, including district-wise nodal contacts.
- erojgar.cg.gov.in, for employment exchange registration and renewal problems, which cause most rejections.
- District Collector's grievance cell, where the employment office does not resolve a case.
Applying is free. The portal charges nothing, and no agent, cyber cafe or middleman can secure approval: approval depends only on the eligibility conditions and document verification. Never share your portal OTP with anyone.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the Chhattisgarh unemployment allowance?
Chhattisgarh pays Rs 2,500 per month, which works out to Rs 30,000 a year, credited directly into the applicant's Aadhaar-seeded bank account. The scheme has been in force since 1 April 2023.
What is the age limit for the Chhattisgarh unemployment allowance?
You must be between 18 and 35 years of age as on 1 April of the year in which you claim. A person who turns 36 before that date is not eligible.
What is the income limit?
Total annual family income must not exceed Rs 2,50,000. The applicant must also have no personal source of income. A tehsildar-issued income certificate is the accepted proof.
Do I need employment exchange registration?
Yes, and it must be at least two years old. Your registration with a Chhattisgarh district employment exchange must have been live for two years as on 1 April of the claim year, so registering now makes you eligible only two years later.
Can a graduate apply, or only a class 12 pass?
Class 12 is the minimum qualification, not the maximum. Graduates and postgraduates who meet the age, income and registration conditions are equally eligible.
Can two people from the same family get the allowance?
No. Only one member per family can draw the unemployment allowance at a time.
Who is not eligible for the allowance?
Anyone whose family member holds a government or regular private job (Group D staff excepted), who has refused a job offered through the employment exchange, whose family includes a serving or former MP, MLA or other elected representative, whose family draws a pension of Rs 10,000 or more a month, who paid income tax in the previous assessment year, or whose family includes a registered doctor, engineer, lawyer, chartered accountant or architect.
Can I apply offline at the employment exchange?
No. Applications are accepted only online at berojgaribhatta.cg.nic.in. Physical forms are not received, though a Common Service Centre or Choice centre can help you fill the online form.
