Ladli Social Security Allowance Scheme
Haryana state government scheme
Ladli Social Security Allowance pays Rs 3,200 per month to Haryana parents who have only daughters and no son, starting when either parent turns 45 and running for 15 years. Family income must stay within Rs 2,00,000 a year. Apply free on saralharyana.gov.in after updating the Parivar Pehchan Patra.
What is the Ladli Social Security Allowance Scheme?
Ladli Social Security Allowance Scheme is a monthly allowance paid by the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of Haryana, to families that have only daughters and no son. The scheme was launched on 1 January 2006 on the pattern of the state's Old Age Allowance, and its purpose is to remove the old-age insecurity that has historically pushed families in Haryana to prefer sons.
According to the Directorate, the allowance is Rs 3,200 per month with effect from 1 November 2025, raised from Rs 3,000 which had applied from 1 January 2024. When the scheme began the rate was Rs 300 a month, so the benefit has grown more than tenfold in under two decades. The allowance is credited by Direct Benefit Transfer to the claiming parent's own bank account.
Departmental figures for 2023-24 record 34,937 beneficiary families under the scheme against a budget of about Rs 113 crore, which makes it one of the smaller of Haryana's fifteen social security pension schemes by headcount but one of the most distinctive in design.
What the scheme is designed to do
- Give parents of only-daughter families a guaranteed income in middle age, so that not having a son does not mean no old-age support.
- Bridge the years between 45 and 60, after which the same parents move on to the Old Age Samman Allowance.
- Pay the money to the mother wherever she is surviving, which puts the income directly in a woman's hands.
Who is eligible for the Ladli Social Security Allowance?
Your family can get the allowance if all of the following are true:
- The family has no son, biological or adopted, only a daughter or daughters.
- Either parent is a domicile of Haryana or is working for the Government of Haryana.
- Either parent has completed 45 years of age. The 15-year entitlement runs from that date.
- Gross annual family income from all sources does not exceed Rs 2,00,000.
Note that the income ceiling here, Rs 2,00,000, is lower than the Rs 3,00,000 ceiling used for the Old Age Samman Allowance and the widow pension. Families sometimes assume the same limit applies across all Haryana pensions and are refused for that reason alone.
You cannot apply if:
- The family has any son, whether biological or adopted. A single son disqualifies the family even if there are several daughters.
- Gross annual family income exceeds Rs 2,00,000.
- Neither parent has completed 45 years of age yet.
- Neither parent is a Haryana domicile or a Haryana government employee.
The scheme is single-parent friendly by design: a biological single parent who meets the other conditions is eligible, and where one parent dies, the surviving partner continues drawing the allowance until turning 60.
Who receives the payment and for how long?
The benefit is paid to the mother if she is surviving. If the mother has died, the father receives it. On the death of either parent, the surviving partner keeps the allowance until reaching 60 years of age.
The entitlement runs for 15 years from the date either parent completes 45 years. At 60 years the parents become eligible for the Old Age Samman Allowance at the same monthly rate, so the two schemes are designed to hand over to each other rather than run together. A family should file the old-age pension application as the 60th birthday approaches rather than assume the Ladli allowance simply continues under a different name.
What documents are required for the Ladli allowance?
| Document | Mandatory | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Parivar Pehchan Patra (Family ID) | Yes | Family composition and verified income must be correct |
| Aadhaar card of claiming parent | Yes | Mother if surviving, otherwise father |
| Age proof of the parent | Yes | Must show 45 years completed |
| Birth certificates of all children | Yes | Proves the family has only daughters |
| Income certificate or declaration | Yes | Gross family income within Rs 2,00,000 a year |
| Residence or domicile proof | Yes | Haryana domicile, or Haryana government service record |
| Bank passbook | Yes | Claiming parent's own account, Aadhaar-seeded |
The Parivar Pehchan Patra is the decisive document. Haryana verifies both the family composition and the income from the PPP database, and an incomplete PPP that does not list every child, or that carries an old income figure, will stop the case regardless of the paper certificates attached. Correct it at meraparivar.haryana.gov.in before filing the application.

How to apply offline
- Visit your nearest SARAL Kendra, Common Service Centre or the District Social Welfare Office with the original documents and one photocopy set.
- Ask the operator to file the Ladli Social Security Allowance application on Antyodaya-SARAL on your behalf, the counters run the same system as the website.
- Give your OTP or biometric confirmation where asked and collect the printed acknowledgement carrying the Application Reference ID.
How much is paid and when?
Ladli Social Security Allowance pays Rs 3,200 per month from 1 November 2025, credited monthly by DBT to the claiming parent's Aadhaar-seeded bank account. The rate is flat and does not vary with the number of daughters in the family. A family with one daughter and a family with four receive the same allowance.
No annual re-application is needed within the 15-year window. Rate revisions reach existing beneficiaries automatically; the Rs 200 increase notified in 2025 was applied with retrospective effect from 1 November without any fresh form. The allowance stops if a son is born or adopted into the family, if income crosses the ceiling, or when the 15-year period ends.
How to check your application status
- Open saralharyana.gov.in and enter your Application Reference ID in the Track Application Status box on the home page.
- Or sign in to your SARAL account and open Track Application Status for the full history of the case.
- After sanction, check the bank passbook or account statement before raising a grievance about a missing credit.
Common reasons for rejection and how to fix them
- PPP shows a son in the family, sometimes wrongly because of a data entry error. Correct the family composition through the PPP grievance route.
- Income above Rs 2,00,000 in the verified PPP record β this ceiling is lower than for other Haryana pensions and catches many applicants out.
- Neither parent has completed 45 years at the date of application.
- Bank account not Aadhaar-seeded, so the DBT credit fails after sanction.
- Account not in the claiming parent's name. The mother's account is required where she is surviving.
- Domicile not established for either parent.
Where to complain if the allowance is delayed
- Antyodaya-SARAL helpline: 0172-3968400, and the email saral.haryana@gov.in, working 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday to Saturday.
- District Social Welfare Officer of your district, who sanctions and verifies this allowance.
- CM Window, Haryana's central grievance platform, for cases stuck beyond the normal processing period.
- Parivar Pehchan Patra grievance redressal at meraparivar.haryana.gov.in where the problem is a wrong income figure or a missing or extra child in the Family ID.
Applying for the Ladli Social Security Allowance is free. No official will ask for a payment, and no agent can guarantee sanction, the case turns on the family composition recorded in the PPP, the parent's age and the income ceiling alone.

Frequently asked questions
How much is the Ladli Social Security Allowance per month?
Ladli Social Security Allowance pays Rs 3,200 per month with effect from 1 November 2025, raised from Rs 3,000 which applied from 1 January 2024. The allowance began at Rs 300 a month when the scheme started on 1 January 2006.
Who is eligible for the Ladli Social Security Allowance?
Any Haryana family with no son, biological or adopted, but only a daughter or daughters, where either parent is a Haryana domicile or works for the Government of Haryana, is eligible. Gross annual family income from all sources must not exceed Rs 2,00,000.
At what age does the Ladli allowance start and how long does it run?
The allowance starts from the date either of the two parents completes 45 years of age and runs for 15 years. At 60 years the parents move to the Old Age Samman Allowance instead, so the two benefits follow one another rather than overlapping.
Who receives the money, the mother or the father?
The mother receives the allowance if she is surviving. If the mother has died, the father receives it, and in either case the surviving partner continues to draw the benefit until turning 60 years.
Who is not eligible for the Ladli Social Security Allowance?
A family with any son, whether biological or adopted, is not eligible, even if it also has daughters. Families with gross annual income above Rs 2,00,000, parents under 45 years, and families where neither parent is a Haryana domicile or a Haryana government employee also cannot apply.
Is the Ladli Social Security Allowance the same as Ladli Yojana?
No. Ladli Social Security Allowance is a monthly pension-type allowance for parents of only-daughter families aged 45 and above, run by the Directorate of Social Justice and Empowerment. It is often confused with girl-child savings schemes, which pay into a deposit for the daughter instead.
How do I check the status of my Ladli allowance application?
Enter your Application Reference ID in the Track Application Status box on saralharyana.gov.in, or sign in to your SARAL account. After sanction, check the bank passbook first if the credit has not arrived.
Is there any fee to apply?
No. The application on Antyodaya-SARAL is free. A Common Service Centre may charge only the small government-notified assistance fee, and no agent can charge for getting a family added to the beneficiary list.
