Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana
Jharkhand state government scheme
Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana pays Jharkhand girls up to Rs 40,000 in stages: Rs 2,500 a year in classes 8 and 9, Rs 5,000 a year in classes 10, 11 and 12, and a one-time Rs 20,000 on turning 18. Applications are made through the school or Anganwadi centre, or online at savitribaipksy.jharkhand.gov.in.
What is Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana?
Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana is a conditional cash transfer scheme of the Government of Jharkhand for adolescent girls. Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana is run by the Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security, and it pays money to a girl in stages as she moves up through secondary school and then again when she turns 18.
The scheme is named after Savitribai Phule, the nineteenth-century educationist, and the design follows the same logic: money reaches the girl at the exact points where families in Jharkhand most often pull a daughter out of school or arrange an early marriage. According to the departmental portal, the stated objectives are strengthening female empowerment, prioritising girls' education, eliminating child marriage, meeting the cost of secondary schooling, and promoting adolescent health and hygiene.
Key features
- Total assistance of up to Rs 40,000 per girl.
- Payment is staged across five school years plus one payment at 18.
- All money is paid by direct benefit transfer into the girl's own bank or post office account, not the parent's account.
- All daughters in a family are now eligible after an amendment to the scheme rules.
- The scheme is administered through schools and Anganwadi centres, with a dedicated portal at savitribaipksy.jharkhand.gov.in.
The scheme is often written locally as Savitribai Phule Kishori Samridhi Yojana, and both spellings refer to the same programme.
How much money does the scheme pay and when?
| Stage | Amount | When paid |
|---|---|---|
| Class 8 | Rs 2,500 | During the academic year |
| Class 9 | Rs 2,500 | During the academic year |
| Class 10 | Rs 5,000 | During the academic year |
| Class 11 | Rs 5,000 | During the academic year |
| Class 12 | Rs 5,000 | During the academic year |
| On turning 18 | Rs 20,000 | One-time lump sum |
| Total | Rs 40,000 |
The structure is deliberate. The smaller amounts in classes 8 and 9 cover books, uniforms and fees at the age when dropout begins. The larger amounts in classes 10, 11 and 12 cover board examination costs. The Rs 20,000 at 18 is the anchor payment, it arrives only if the girl has reached adulthood, which is the single strongest financial argument a family can be given against marrying a daughter at 15 or 16.
Who is eligible for Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana?
A girl can be enrolled if:
- She is a permanent resident of Jharkhand.
- She is studying in classes 8 to 12 in a recognised school, and is within the age group the scheme covers, broadly 11 to 18 years, with the final payment falling at 18.
- Her parents are not income tax payers.
- Her parents are not in regular government service.
- She holds a bank or post office account in her own name.
- The family is not drawing a pension benefit that the scheme rules exclude.
A girl is not eligible if:
- Her family is outside Jharkhand, the scheme is limited to state residents.
- Her parents pay income tax, which is the clearest single exclusion in the scheme.
- Her parents hold government service, since the scheme is targeted at economically weaker households.
- She has left school and is not enrolled in any of classes 8 to 12 at the time the instalment is due for that class.
- She has no account in her own name, since the payment cannot legally be routed into a parent's account.
Priority in verification typically goes to families identified as BPL and to households listed in the Socio-Economic Caste Census, though the amended rules have widened access considerably from the original design.

How to apply for Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana
- Open a bank or post office account in the girl's own name if she does not already have one, and get it seeded with her Aadhaar number. Nothing else in the process works until this exists.
- Collect the documents — Aadhaar card, residence certificate, birth certificate, school bonafide certificate, passbook copy and the parents' income declaration.
- Submit the application through the school. Class teachers and school heads collect the forms and enter beneficiary details using the school login on savitribaipksy.jharkhand.gov.in. This is the main route for girls already in classes 8 to 12.
- Or submit at the Anganwadi centre. The Anganwadi Sevika accepts the filled form and forwards it to the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office of the block, which is the alternative route where the school route is not working.
- Verification at the CDPO office. The block office checks residence, age, school enrolment and the income declaration, and approves the record using the office login on the portal.
- Track the release. Once approved, the instalment for the girl's current class is released by DBT. Check the credit in the passbook and the status on the portal.
- Repeat each academic year. The record is updated class by class, so the school must confirm continued enrolment for the next instalment to be released.
How to check your application and payment status
- Open savitribaipksy.jharkhand.gov.in.
- Use the status check option in the citizen section.
- Compare against the beneficiary lists published on the portal, which are organised by financial year, class and district.
- Confirm the actual credit in the bank or post office passbook, since the portal may show an instalment as released before the bank posts it.
Why instalments get held up
- Account not in the girl's own name, the most frequent reason a payment fails, since a parent's account will be rejected.
- Aadhaar not seeded to the account, so the DBT transfer bounces.
- Name mismatch between Aadhaar, the school register and the bank record.
- School has not updated the class for the new academic year, so no instalment is generated.
- Age record error, which either delays or wrongly triggers the Rs 20,000 payment.
- Income tax exclusion triggered by a parent's return filed for the relevant assessment year.
- Girl has dropped out of school, which stops the class-linked instalments.
Most of these are fixed at the school and CDPO office rather than online. Take the passbook, Aadhaar card and school certificate together, since almost every correction requires all three.
Where to get help or complain
- Scheme helpline: 0651-2400757 or 0651-2223544, listed by the Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security.
- Child Development Project Officer (CDPO) office in your block. The fastest route for a stuck payment or a data correction.
- District Social Welfare Officer at the district headquarters for a complaint the block office has not resolved.
- Anganwadi Sevika in your village, who holds the local beneficiary register and can tell you whether your name was entered at all.
There is no fee for applying under Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana. No school official, Anganwadi worker or agent may charge money to enrol a girl or to release an instalment.

Frequently asked questions
How much money does Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana give?
Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana gives up to Rs 40,000 per girl in total. The instalments are Rs 2,500 each in classes 8 and 9, Rs 5,000 each in classes 10, 11 and 12, and a final one-time payment of Rs 20,000 when the girl turns 18.
Who is eligible for Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana?
Girls who are permanent residents of Jharkhand and studying in classes 8 to 12 are eligible, provided their parents are not income tax payers and not in government service. The girl must also hold a bank or post office account in her own name.
Is there a limit on how many daughters in one family can benefit?
No. Following an amendment to the scheme rules, all daughters in a family can be enrolled. The earlier restriction limiting the benefit to a fixed number of girls per household no longer applies.
How is the Rs 20,000 payment at age 18 released?
The Rs 20,000 is released as a single lump sum once the girl completes 18 years of age, credited by direct benefit transfer into her own account. Marriage before 18 defeats the purpose of the scheme, which is explicitly aimed at ending child marriage.
Who cannot apply for Savitribai Phule Kishori Samriddhi Yojana?
Girls whose parents pay income tax are not eligible, and neither are girls whose parents hold regular government service. Girls who are not permanent residents of Jharkhand cannot apply, and families already drawing a pension benefit are excluded under the scheme conditions.
Can I apply directly on the portal myself?
In practice, applications are submitted through the school. The savitribaipksy.jharkhand.gov.in portal provides a school login and an office login through which class-wise beneficiary data is entered and verified; individual girls should approach their school or Anganwadi centre.
How do I check whether my instalment has been released?
Use the status check option on savitribaipksy.jharkhand.gov.in, and confirm the credit in your bank or post office passbook. The portal also publishes updated beneficiary lists by financial year, class and district.
What is the helpline for this scheme?
The Department of Women, Child Development and Social Security lists 0651-2400757 and 0651-2223544 for queries on the scheme. The local Child Development Project Officer's office is usually faster for a case-specific problem such as a failed bank credit.
